[Highlight] Cade throws up an airball with a chance to tie
I don’t trust this Pistons halfcourt offense in the playoffs at all so many unreliable shooters
They give me massive 2023 Grizzlies/2025 Rockets vibes great formula for regular season success but they’re going to need to make a move or two at the deadline to win the East
Cade has the issue that a lot of classic stars on East 1 seeds have. Their team build is so 2001 Sixers, 2002 Nets, 2005 Pistons, 2007 Cavs.
He isn’t really an elite shot maker (he probably isn’t even a good one, his touch around the basket is poor for the looks he’s able to generate) but he plays on a defensively slanted roster which forces him to take these shots over and over
In fairness though, Ivey has been out most of the year and that’s in theory a big part of your team.
I really don’t think Ivey is as good as people act like he is here. Medium volume low efficiency scorer who has way too many turnovers for his scoring/assist output, and he’s not a great defender. Unless he takes a huge leap coming off an injury he really isn’t someone you want getting significant minutes on a team that wants to win.
Down 3, this would normally be a situation where they’d try to get Robinson a look moving off a screen. He was out tonight though. We do need at least 1 more 38-40% 3pt shooter in the rotation
He’s a good shot maker lol, what is going on rn. We are the 1 seed and he’s playing well. He’s not perfect but he’s definitely at least good lol
Below league-average TS% every year of his career. His mid range and rim numbers are not good either. There’s no area of the court where he looks like an efficient scorer, and there are real questions around his touch by experts.
Most of this is how much of his shot diet is self created to be fair. I’m not saying he’s bad! He could be a lot more efficient with easier shots. It’s just that he isn’t a great shot maker as is.
He’s literally one of the best mid-range shooters in the league (49%, 45%, 48%, 48% the last 4 years on high volume).
You’re right that he’s an inefficient finisher at the rim though.
I’m aware of his numbers. He’s also usually playing w at least 2 non shooters and is by far the number 1 focus for the defence. We have to take that into account.
He has flaws fs and I wish he was better and more efficient but it’s also hard w that much focus his way when the team isn’t helping him at all
He’s a good player lol
Again, I’m not saying he’s bad, and in fact I’m extremely amenable to the idea that the team makes his efficiency worse. He has to carry a huge offensive load and create his own looks way more than he could. it’s just that as a volume scorer there are real limitations.
I’ve always viewed Cade as more of a Jason Kidd than a Luka Doncic, you need a real 2nd option for him on the perimeter imo
I kinda agree w that. He has real limitations fs and we could use a good scorer badly as a 2nd option
I think he still is a great playmaker and helps our team a lot. We literally have 0 good offensive players without him at times. When everyone missing and Duran is passive it’s hard for him to do much. I’ll agree he should be better as a scorer tho
Ig time will tell how good he can be as a 1 option
They are just not that good, their best player is an inefficient streaky player
Think you’re spot on with Cade. He’s really one of the streakiest players I’ve seen this year. One game he goes off and another game with ton of crunch time turnovers and airballs
He hasn’t had a year of average efficiency in his career, his fans think it’s hate but he’s a flawed player, don’t get me wrong he still still very good
When you get to All NBA level and people expectations are higher, he needs to be better
Even when he goes off, it’s on very high volume. He very rarely has highly efficient games.
This is why Scottie > Cade.
Defense matters and he almost never had too many shots in a game
Scottie Barnes is not better lmao he would look way worse if he was the first option on the team like Cade too
Id rather Scottie as an elite #2 than Cade as a low mid #1
and what if they’re both getting paid the same amount?
ones having a 50/40/90 season with DPOY level defense
And one’s ranked 5 on the MVP list, CPOY favorite, and leading the team to 1st seed in the East… like are we forrreal lmfao
Put Scottie on that team instead of Cade and he’s none of those.
I mean sure but that’s a completely different argument, don’t think you can compare the two at their current roles
Ik this thread is anti Cade but come on lol
Scottie is nice especially on d but Cade does the most for this team. Our shooting sucks Cade takes tough shots and doesn’t hit them like id love but he’s still pretty good lol. He also plays great d.
Scottie would struggle as the main option to focus on like Cade is.
lmao
Cade is an elite playmaker and a truly mid scorer (for a starting-level PG). He needs to be surrounded by shooters, like Beasley last year. When those shooters are not scoring, the whole team is pretty mid.
Yep guy averaging 28 ppg is a mid scorer wtf are you even talking about
TS% nerds are calling Cade mid now
Dude I can’t deal with this. He is a top 5 passer in the game and the offense often falls apart without him.
he is very inefficient. He scores a lot because he takes many shots.
45% from the field while having no other consistent options on offense and while being the offensive engine is fine. His three ball is down to start the year but it will get better.
45% from the field while having no other consistent options on offense and while being the offensive engine is fine
Sure, it’s fine. Which is why the Pistons are still first in the JV conference.
But is he inefficient because he has no other consistent options on offense and is forced to take many shots? Or would he be inefficient even with another good second option on offense?
Last year, he had Beasley that was one Ant-heater away from winning the 3P title, and he was still very inefficient. Until we see Cade with a star-level teammate, the only hard evidence is that he is inefficient.
Are you fr bringing up Beasley rn. Cade does not have a legit stable 2nd option at this moment.
He has one bad game and these guys are talking insane lol most likely destroyed their team.
Lol yep I bet you’re right. People just overreact too much on here.
I saw this and immediately went to reddit LMAO
Rollins simply has too much dog
Bro got CLAMPED by KPJ and Rollins
3 non shooters in the starting lineup and i’m supposed to take this team serious?
Since Ivey came back the lineups have been ass
Duncan Robinson has been starting.
Not his game tonight geez
Bucks really needed that one.
Let’s just get to the extra time off since we’re not in the cup
I’m losing faith in this team’s ability to play basketball in the fourth. How do you come out 19-4 and then tank so badly? And the Bucks didn’t have one of the best players in the world all gd night??
I’ve never seen a fanbase so obsessed with a team they beat in the first round. I hope New York guts their team for Giannis and still wins absolutely nothing like they have for a majority of their existence and destroys their future. Biggest loser fanbase in the league
I posted his layup on the Hawks the other night. I’m an equal opportunity hater
ive hardly seen any knicks fans actually hating on the pistons. i have however seen a lot of pistons fans like you who start frothing at the mouth any time someone voices even the slightest criticism of cade and who seem particularly offended when the criticism comes from a knicks fan
you’re trying to act like pistons fans are sensitive but i see you - a knicks fan- in every single pistons/cade thread.
why?
Pistons need more shooting and a better second offensive option than Harris
Harris went off
Harris is a mediocre player for the most part. You can’t count on him playing like in the playoffs enough for them to make a big playoff run.
You need a better 2nd option to contend when going off is 20 and 5 inconsistently.
Tobias is a good guy to have in that 4th option. Not 2nd
Just want to say that rollins played incredible defense on him all quarter. He’s the real deal
Our guys keep bricking 3s when we know theyre the best at scoring in the paint. Either we gotta get better shooting or find new ways to score inside. Disappointing loss since it felt like we had it but gg bucks
Tired af you can see how he steps back
Pistons what did I just watch
Trash
lol, lmao even
I think he’s a phenomenal player but his jumper is beyond streaky. Also didn’t really create separation on that one, surprised he opted to just shoot over the defender tbh, the bits I’ve seen of him, he really works hard to get in favorable positions.
So Cade gets to push off and then also gets the advantage of defenders not being able to land close to them while shooting? At what point are we just going to make perimeter defense illegal?
Cade has had some soul crushers in the clutch. Just cannot get those plays to fall often seemingly.
The irony lol. He’s leading CPOY odds right now.
How is it ironic?
Pistons play a lot of close games and they have the best record in the East, so it’s not surprising if he’s leading in the odds currently. Not really the point I’m making though. I’m just talking about how in a lot of these “free throw/shot to tie/take the lead” he’s had some brutal misses so far this season.
Damn I checked this and you’re right. Over Shai is very interesting though, I guess him being the current favorite for MVP is priced in there.
Shai doesn’t play fourth quarters is probably why haha
Yeah, maybe try actually watching games. His play in the clutch is not the problem. If anything it’s the opposite. He takes forever to get going. But I wouldn’t expect a Knicks fan to actually watch basketball
I didn’t call it “the problem”. Cade is a beast. I was just saying that every couple days there’s a play where Cade just barely misses the big one to tie or take the lead. String of bad luck.
But I wouldn’t expect a Knicks fan to actually watch basketball
You wouldn’t expect fans who have stuck by a team that has been notoriously bad for decades to actually watch basketball? I’m not sure what you’re even trying to argue here.
Brutal lol we’ve all had those that felt good leaving your hand, only to miss badly haha
Most overrated player in the league (I didn’t post this under the clip where he dribbled through an entire team and scored though).
Pistons need to Get Michael Porter ASAP, and they will make the Finals, He is their Missing Piece!
why is it not talked about that pistons went about “fixing” his shot a couple years ago and his 3pt percentages have been worse since then, another case of fixing what aint broken
He shot 35.5% from 3 the past 2 seasons vs 30% his first 2 seasons. Are we just making things up now?
ok i was wrong about the numbers but the numbers dont tell the story his shot is worse
You’re getting downvoted but I agree with you as a pistons fan. His 3 point shot has looked bad for a couple years now and it’s not getting better.
it doesnt really make sense either cuz hes perfect at the line and in the midrange i wonder if its a mental thing, sometimes players get in long slumps, like this shot being an airball seems equal parts nerves as it is tired legs or lack of separation or whatnot
For years we (pistons fans) have believed it’s due to his strength and conditioning. His shot is always flat and he always misses short hitting the front of the rim. He takes on a huge load offensively and gets little help so it’s understandable that he is always gassed and his legs are dead but it’s been going on for years now and I don’t see it changing unfortunately unless we get another 25-30 ppg scorer who can really take the weight off cades shoulders.
This and those missed free throws in the clutch. Last place in Clutch Player of the Year voting
What about 2 nights ago? Or the back to back 19 point 4th quarters?
They put this guy on the same level as Brunson
Hahaha
brunson is legitimately one of the worst defensive players in the league
gets picked on in the playoffs routinely
Cade keeps proving he’s not a clutch player, he was a disaster vs Orlando in the last couple of mins
He’s been great in the 4th this season
