[Injury] Giannis Antetokounmpo appears to suffer a non-contact leg injury early in the game against the Pistons. He walked to the locker room on his own power.
Earpiece just told him they got it done
Lakers/Knicks about to get Giannis for a used tampon and a bag of Funyuns
If the Lakers pull off GA …. I don’t know what I amm going to do but I won’t be happy about it.
You’re an OKC boomer , a living dynasty for years to come. You’re going to count your blessings that your team is not the Seattle SuperSonics
its close to impossible unless they trade Reaves but that will upset Luka.
I dont think MIL will accept Rui and salary fillers and a bunch of FRPs. Unless they will really give Giannis a solid.
Lebron has a no trade clause.
I think Luka would get over it
Imagine if Luka have Reaves and Giannis next 5 years tho. I think thats what Luka prefer
I’m sure he’d prefer to round out the starting 5 with Ant and 2009 Dwight, but he might not be able to do all of those
Why not add in 2016 Steph Curry and 2013 Miami Heat Lebron as your 6th and 7th man. That would give the roster more depth
Honestly if you’ve got the time machine, just go grab a handful of brons. It would work
Pelinka got that Time Machine
You know that scene in the first mummy movie where the guy runs into the wall and just fucking dies 🤣
That would be me if Giannis went to the Lakers and they somehow kept their core.
I think Luka likes being apart of the greatest whiteboy back court in NBA history.
This is an insane take. You let go of AR for Giannis 10 out of 10 times. Your flair is talking to you like the fucking green goblin mask my dude
Rui Dalton Laravia Timme whatever picks we have left and a personal handshake from Magic. Who says no?
i mean if theyre going to give up GA wouldn’t they just buyout lebron and then he gets to go to whatever team he wants to.
Man why and when tf did people started calling him GA and why am I seeing it multiple times in this thread alone?
here I am thinking they talking about Greg Anthony
milwaukee bucks star General Admission
LeBron to OKC for a vet min and a final ring. Got it.
Take Russ first
Big laker fan but this is impossible. Id be super happy though 😅
How else could we possibly compete against you guys, out here looking like a dynasty.
Who’s tampon?
Jeanne Buss
Hmm
Even better she can’t get pregnant and you bust threes in her.
… Does that increase or decrease the value?
She hasn’t needed a tampon in decades so I guess it becomes vintage?
every day we stray further from god’s light
PSA 10
Vintage items are always more valuable. Everyone knows that.
Jeanie’s still hot imo. I’d crack her old eggs any day.
No, no. Who is tampon?
Miami has everything to make a deal
Genuinely think Herro is the best single player they will get. An all-star who is 24! Who else offers that? And he’s from Wisconsin iirc.
he’s from Milwaukee
I just fell to my knees in a Bodega. Just chop em off from there.
“Sorry, I misheard. It was a used bag of Funyuns used as a tampon.”
“Stand down! stand down! We’ve got an offer!”
Finally someone who sees the strings 🤫😂
All jokes aside, it does look a bit odd. If you slow down the replay from the other end of the court, he takes an awkward step with his left foot then reacts to the injury before his right foot even comes back down, then motions toward his right calf. With how it looked, I’d expect it to have been the left calf. It’s probably just because it’s slow motion but it looks odd.
I hope it’s not an achilles. It didn’t look like it, but Achilles injuries can be weird. Sometimes guys can just walk off, but not be able to run, but they have a totally torn achilles
Acute trademeitis, devastating stuff.
Bucs GM: “Your value is just too high. We can’t trade you to your preferred team”.
Giannis: >Tears Achilles out of spite.
I think Jason Licht is mostly just hoping Evans and McMillan come back healthy this season
This is why the Bucks pay those donor Antetokounmpos
Its a contingency plan
Jimmy Butler suffered with this very badly a few years back. Really tough to see.
Apparently that time in his life was the inspiration for the emo haircut
Pretenditis
Pretendonitis was right there
So much so that that’s how I read it lmao
had me searching for ts lmao
I was struggling to pronounce it and find the Latin word 😂
With how long it’s been going on for, I’d say chronic trademeitis.
Symptoms include getmeouttaherrhheoa.
Cracked up once it clicked. That’s good
We call it anal glaucoma. My ass doesn’t see him showing up tomorrow.
Yeah i don’t think this is the resolution either side was looking for.
Oof
Looks like its just a calf strain. Hell be fine
Oftentimes calf strains aren’t “just” calf strains though
(Although obviously I hope this isn’t anything serious)
It does feel like in recent memory, they’ve been harbingers of the worst outcomes. Hopefully Giannis bucks the trend.
You knew what you were doing.
Oh deer.
D’oe!
The calf strain to achilles tear gateway is usually just a thing in the playoffs when they can’t afford to give the calf proper rest
I was going to say, it’s only a problem if you’re literally doing nothing to address it. He’ll be fine just in time to play the second half of the season for whatever new team he lands on.
If its announced right away it usually is. Also he looks fine for the most part
A calf strain isn’t just a strain, it’s actually a tear. NBA teams are notorious for mismanaging these injuries and it can plague players for whole seasons if not given due time to recover. Prime example, being Harden on the Nets or Aaron Gordon right now. These aren’t just minor injuries
Problem with managing all these strains is that a lot of people are already calling out players for sitting out too much. There’s really no winning scenario currently unless the games are like cut in half.
Or just ignore the dumb fans who want players to rush back from serious injuries. There’s a very small number of players who sit out for absolutely no reason and even then, there is a justification.
Harden was a hamstring but Durant had a bad calf strain before the Achilles
Durant and Haliburton both did but they were both clearly coming back too early from their calf strain because they were in the finals and their teams needed them. No need to rush Giannis back from a calf strain in early season when he doesn’t even want to play for this team
KD vs Toronto comes to mind
Yeah I’m currently suffering from my second achilles tear (yay!) and at first i was like oh shit. Then saw he didnt really push off and i DEFINITELY didnt walk that easily either time. I even have my second time on video and didnt look like that (but I knew Tyrese immediately)
(Reposted with a higher quality video)
…
No chill.
Bucks say it’s a calf strain thank god
Unless giannis is the toughest guy in the league he would’ve been in way more pain with Achilles
I’ve unfortunately had the pleasure of rupturing my Achilles and it was oddly not painful at all, mine was a complete rupture though and didn’t take any bone fragments off my calcaneus so I’m sure that was the main reason why. Prior to that I thought it was an excruciating injury.
Same. Felt like getting kicked lightly in the back of the leg.
That and the “window blinds” explanation always makes my skin crawl
What does that mean?
You feel it pull up the back of your calf like how window blinds get pulled up
r/nbewwwwwww
Idk what yall were in I felt like I got shot in my foot. I fell screaming. They came running at me and tried to rip my cleats off…spats and all
Then Another dude had the bright idea that they shouldn’t my cleats TIGHTER to prevent swelling. So that went well
Whole time I’m in tears and screaming
Mine felt like someone threw a baseball as hard as they could at my leg but was more surprising than painful
Tore both of mine very badly and it hurt like hell.
Did you have an avulsion with either?
Both. I actually had to have surgery on my left twice. So yeah that explains it. I thought I got shot in the leg when it first happened it was so loud.
Dame oddly didn’t seem like he was in a whole lot of pain but I think it was just shock. Like he was just sitting up with his hands on his knees and his legs crossed
Achilles tears on their own are generally not painful.
Relatively it’s a pretty painless injury considering the severity.
I’ve torn my Achilles and honest it was only painful for a brief second. Full rupture.
It’s not a pain thing even, you literally can’t walk
It still blows my mind that Kobe went and shot his free throws after he tore his. That pain is supposed to be awful.
That’s what’s cool about Achilles tears, the tendon fully snaps and nerve connection is separated! No way for signals to travel.
…..you do know thats what they always say right before they announce an achilles tear right?
It’s also what you have to be most careful coming back early from, and can lead to an achilles tear
Yeah after last playoffs players now are for sure going to take calf strains a lot more seriously won’t be surprised if they sit out months just to be safe
Not necessarily.
There’s a video from Brian Sutterer on YouTube (MD, guy who talks a lot about sport injuries) where he has a long talk about precisely this misconception. Not all strains are the same place, calves are a big muscle, and not all (not even most) of them interact directly with the Achilles in such a way that it would be immediately harmful for another injury.
His argument is just that there isn’t enough data - it’s happened twice in high profile cases recently, but that doesn’t suddenly mean that there’s a 1:1 cause here (or even a causal link at all).
I’ve seen that guy’s videos before. Tbf, a lot of it is indeed anecdotal, but there’s been a few BIG profile cases that have made it hard to ignore as a possibility. KD had a calf strain before he came back in the 2019 Finals, Hali had one before he came back in the Finals last year. Klay had a hammy strain in the 2019 Finals before he also went down in that series after coming back…
The fuck are you talking about with Klay? You insinuating that his Hammy strain and not Danny Green was the reason for Klay’s ACL tear?
He tore his Achilles a year later. Saying a 2019 Finals Hammy strain had anything to do with his Achilles injury is like saying, “I farted two weeks ago, pretty sure that’s the reason I had a heart attack.”
He was moving his foot to walk off so its just a calf strain. Achilles tear means your can’t flex your foot to walk
You can pull your foot upwards, but you can’t press down/gas peddle.
doesn’t look like an achilles tear though, and he’s had a similar calf injury in the past. Granted they can lead to each other.
Probably the last game he plays for the bucks then tbh. Calf strain could take a few weeks to return from.
If that were the case they would say “lower leg injury” an achilles can be diagnosed basically on the spot…
This is true, but sometimes it is just a calf strain. Sauce Gardner like a week ago had something that looked like it could have been an Achilles and was called a calf strain, people said “that’s what they always say”, ended up being a calf strain
Remember a few years ago KAT had a really bad strain that looked way worse. Seemed like he just narrowly avoided the worst.
Isn’t that what Halliburton had before he tore his Achilles?
That’s why you can’t rush back. Happened to KD too, with Klay it was his Hammy
I think Hali’s calf was sore for a while though, like for a round or two. Then he had a bad scare Game 5. Fine in Game 6. And then obviously we know what happened in the end.
yeah it was known that Hali was basically playing on a time bomb but no one on earth would’ve sat him since it was finals. and not just finals, it was late in the finals series. ultimately can’t blame anyone for playing him in game 7 but it just sucks that what everyone feared actually came true.
also my opinion but if the refs didn’t pull shenanigans, iindy would’ve won in 6 and Hali would be playing right now
For any number of reasons, it’s always Fuck Scott Foster
God still so heart breaking for it to happen in game 7
Athletes get calf strains all the dam time. Doesn’t mean they’ll tear their Achilles.
It’s a cover
Past few hours have been like speedrunning through the depths of hell for bucks fans
atleast we have ryan rollins
And KPJ and Sims and Green
Bucks commentators said ruled out with a right calf strain.
Well he’s gonna be held out for a while out of teams being cautious of calf injuries leading to Achilles….
His calf has a recovery time that immediately begins and ends when he touches down in LA
I don’t know, he’s a bit young for us
Does being an old soul count though?
he did somehow magically regenerate his knee the year they won the chip
More like ruled out with Tradeitis.
Giannis has honestly had an absolutely cursed career since winning in 2021
Like it’s easy to say “everyone thought he was on a potential top 10 trajectory what happened” but he hasn’t even really done much wrong since then the dice have just consistently come up snake eyes
Every single thing the Bucks have tried somehow ended up going the worst possible route lol
yea lol
the dame trade looked good in paper and hindsight is always 20 20
If Giannis/Dame don’t get hurt in the playoffs and Jrue doesn’t end up in Boston we probably view that trade totally different
They only played 2 playoff games together in 2 years. Oof
If my Grandma had wheels, she be a bike
even the jrue trade very nearly backfired for them. Yes they won in 2021, but they really needed a bit of luck with that one and a monster performance by giannis because jrue was absolute bricks for them that year and the entire time he was on the bucks
Still one of the best. It’s insane how good he is, but this kind of workload he has to do to possibly get another ring with Bucks is so much it makes my head spin.
I still think they couldve repeated in 2022 if Khris didn’t get hurt. He pushed the eventual ECF champ Celtics to 7 on his own, and the Warriors would have had no answer for him inside and got eaten up like Phoenix did.
Yeah, that was the one most of us fans were most upset about. We had plenty of other years filled with injuries, but give us a healthy Khris for those whole playoffs, and we have a real shot at repeating.
I wouldve hated it for grayson allen that year but loved it for giannis
I mean if we’re going to go down that road, doesn’t that apply in reverse for 2021? KD pushed the Bucks to OT of Game 7 without Harden for half the series (essentially all of it) and Kyrie for the other half and was still a toe away from winning. This stuff usually cancels out over time.
He’s snake bit like AD but he actually got to prove he’s a bus driver many times and got 2 MVPs and 1 title
since winning in 2021
Wasn’t he already hobbled on his way to the championship with a hyper extended knee?
He’s accolades at 27 where Insane. Tbf tho he still has a chance for top 10 imo. But he would need to change team
DNP: Hegoneitis
Looks suspect ngl. But if it’s indeed an injury the timing is certainly wild after all these reports.
Bro just sat his ass down lol
Look, I’ll leave the most minute wiggle room possible for it to be real…
But that looked like the most casual low-effort fall I have ever seen in my life 😬
Such a sudden and instant event, hopefully it’s not an Achilles
Good news is that it’s not. Calf strain
It’s neither. He’s faking it lmao.
Thanks for the inside scoop
Yeah just heard that, still not a good injury for a big man who relies on his athleticism so much.
Gotta heal that all the way or else you risk something much worse.
I mean if he is really looking for a way off the team then losing him now versus losing him in a month or so while negotiating is not really that big of a difference.
That looked like some bad acting wtf
Because it was lmao. This is crazy he did this. Right at the beginning of the game too
And league can’t really do anything I guess, can’t prove it’s not strained
That looked fake as fuck lmao, dude is playing the Bucks.
Such a fckin weird way to go out after all these years, just plopping and sitting down, but Giannis is 1of1 for a reason I guess lmao
4D chess being played here by Giannis ngl
Buddy needs to quit the league for a year and go to acting school before he gets traded.. there’s no way that’s a real injury
This is WWE level acting. I kinda like how bad it is.
Exact same injury as vs Celtics a couple of years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW7l0hTABl8
Pretty normal reaction, about 2-3 weeks out. Not a very serious injury
I said the same shit. He will be miraculously healed when he is traded to the Knicks or Warriors.
CJ McCollum should’ve banned injuries in the last CBA instead of adding the second apron. Injuries are awful to see
Wearing a second apron sounds super uncomfortable anyway. Tf was CJ thinking
Prob calf strain tbh. But ofc everyone gonna speculate
Objectively hilarious timing.
Doctor says he needs a backiotomy
He’ll be out for four to Knicks weeks.
Giannis final moment as a Buck
Precaution time until a trade, I’ve seen it before
Rob Pelinka: He old, skinny and made of glass, the only reasonable price we can offer is Reaves and a pick
Pelinka: I’m doing you a favor here taking on that injury risk. Here I’ll even throw in another cold white boy Knecht.
Lol
He looked like he got shot. Not great at all.
If this is the last time we see Giannis in a Bucks jersey I’m going to be bummed
You guys seriously think he hurt himself?
Lot of nut jobs on here who like to run with any conspiracy
Nope, faking it
I take no pride in saying this, but he gone
So this is how Giannis era in Milwaukee ends.
He’ll rehab and get traded afterwards
The league is doing nothing to avoid the “scripted” allegations
He just pulled his tradetotheknicks 🙏
Pelinka called it in told him take a dive
Such an unserious league. What a joke.
Silver made the call.
Why does bro look like he’s lowkey faking it
He gone
I mean, a bunch of players aren’t eligible to be traded until after December 15
Def cursed in Greek “gamo tin …”
Remember when Kyrie gave up on the Celtics. This reminds me of that.
The tinfoil hatters are going to love this one
Kash Patel is watching
Hope that isn’t the last time he’s in a Bucks uniform…
Trade-itis strikes again?
Bruh!! Come on man… That was some of the worst acting Ive seen. 😒
Now AD for Giannis seems a much fairer deal now…
Go for it Mavs! lol.
[deleted]
If I speak…
oh, thats not good
To those saying it’s just a calf strain, that’s what they say initially before testing for an Achilles tear. Hopefully it’s really just a calf strain but the injury didn’t look good.
Rarely ever do athletes just walk off like that after an Achilles tear.
Fake as shit
When he gets to NY he’s gonna rub some Icy Hot on that thing and be ready to play.
In the wise words of Sir Charles: “oh he got traded, his healthy now”. We are just in the pre trade times here.
