It was Chris Paul doing Chris Paul things! He’s not exactly a steady hand role model type, he’s a firebrand, very vocal and opinionated person

It’s also different when said veteran coworker is no longer really contributing all that much. Like when CP3 was on OKC, he was a vital part of that team and was around a bunch of young players who were willing to learn.

In LA, he’s on a team with guys like Harden, Beal, Batum, Lopez, etc. I can see those guys getting by tired of his shit really fast.

I don’t agree with this - he consistently overachieved in the regular season and playoffs with the PG / Kawhi clippers given how unavailable either or both were during their tenure. I always felt Ty Lue got the most out the supporting cast while playing to his best players strengths - this year is a weird aberration to me and deserves the benefit of the doubt although the cp3 stuff is weird

Lue is a great floor raiser, good at X’s and O’s, and managing egos, or at least he had that rep previously. Maybe this locker room is too much even for him. There are some similarities with Doc, it’s not a terrible comparison. I honestly think it’s just too much of a disaster of a locker room, them in the tankathon without owning their pick must take a massive toll on everyone. They were expecting to compete for rings, as delusional as that does seem in hindsight.

That’s incredibly wrong. Ty’s teams have overachieved many seasons since then, given realistic expectations from his stars missing time.

This is the same franchise that had the F.U.C.K.(because I can’t be assed to look up what they stood for right now) t-shirts during training camp to “hold them accountable” for their loss to the Nuggets last playoffs. 

Yes, the blame does lie with the Clippers. They can have an assistant coach make up cheesey t-shirts for accountability, but when one of their few legendary players is brought back for his retirement tour and does the same thing, and then they fire him in the middle of the night, it is fully on them. 

This also reminds me of the Kawhi airball story that PG told on his podcast a few years ago. Essentially, anytime a player airballed a shot in practice, one of their coaches would call it out and that player would need to run lines. Kawhi did it once, and said “nah”, and the coach backed down. I imagine CP3 was not going to put up with shit like that, and got on Kawhi’s bad side, thus the franchises bad side.

I could see why it would be hard to lock in when the owner (allegedly) committed financial fraud to pay one player way more than anyone else, and your coach is getting visits from the feds because he was tight bro’s with Albanian Rob and Black Tony.

Meanwhile CP3, the guy who brought the Clippers out of the Sterling scandal, finds himself in another Clippers freakshow, when he joined for a last chance at a ring.

Upside? Sponsorship deals with non-existent requirements bankrolled by cash calls from the owner

Downside? They dump a 20 year vet on the tarmac like a lost Dopp kit
