Dude was the best scorer in that Knicks series against the Hawks and was tremendous off the bench for a good few years after that terrible Cavs stint. Had a great playoff series in Minnesota too.

At Jas age Rose had missed around three seasons worth of games. Nobody is taking 26 year old Rose over 26 year old Ja.

They’re right that Morant has been injured and now his rim scoring is down. Two point %age and attempts are down, both could be related to first step quickness and jump height.

He complains about not getting calls, but I don’t think it’s necessarily injuries OR refs.

The 3 point shooting is the real red flag here. His free throw makes went up but not 3 pointers, which makes no sense for a short veteran PG/SG. That should be an effort stat. Time away from the team doesn’t help obviously, but clearly he has a hoop at home.

He shouldn’t be, nor should Drose. Outside of being hyper-athletic slashers, Morant isn’t really that similar as Rose and Wall are.

For one the comment “smaller gaurds” doesn’t really apply to Wall or Rose. They were both 6’3” 200+ lbs at point gaurd. Wall listed at like 210, Rose i think 200-205. Compared to a power forward or center yeah they are small, but for a point guard that’s pretty average to a little beefier than normal (since they heavily relied on explosive moves through the paint to the rim they had to be strong).

Ja Morant is listed as like 175lbs. So he can’t do the same things the other two can just by lack of size. But Morant has more agility and bounce because of his lighter weight.

It’s also disrespectful to compare his decline to Rose or Wall’s. Their bodies just straight broke down on them because they played so hard. Ja Morant doesn’t give two shits and wishes he had even half the work ethic of Rose or Wall.

They make no sense? Their on the court skills and stats are almost identical. A paint attacking 6’3 point guard with above the rim finishing, no outside shot, and good dish-out playmaking? Relies heavily on vertical athleticism, first step, and top speed in transition? An All-NBA talent at a young age? Got a season ending injury in his early twenties and was never the same since?

It’s not sad because it’s completely Morant’s decision.  When someone works hard and does the right things and they get hurt then it’s sad.
