That is the advantage of a large voter pool, it helps filter out anomalous voters, he still got the top spot which is where he should be as the best player of the century.
You also need to appreciate that the way LeBron has manufactured his career since his initial failures with Cleveland has not sat well with a lot of fans. There is a large amount of prejudice that clouds judgement. Again, it’s why we should have the largest voter pool we can manage…

Eh, every other guy on the list seems to have at least 6-7 all-nba caliber seasons within that 25 year timeframe, and Shai only has 3 so far. He obviously peaked higher than Melo and will almost certainly be considered above him by the end of his career, but I think he’s just being ranked there now cuz he’s comparatively early into his career

Tatum being 23 seems even more egregious. If you are going to dock SGA for not doing it long enough, then Tatum shouldn’t be ahead of him saying as SGA has an MVP and Finals MVP over him.

I’m pretty surprised by Luka over Russ tbh. Obviously Russ has fallen off hard, but the longevity and accolades favor Russ heavily. They’ve both made it equally as far in the yoffs too

Big difference I noticed is shai much higher and above Tatum AD and Paul Pierce on the readers list. Which I would honestly agree with.

Most of the players on this list only have 1 championship and several have 0 championships. Some of the players on this list are still active and could win 1 or more in the future, which makes sense as it is not an all time list, but a list of the past 25 years.

Call me even older fashioned but if you weren’t even the best player on your team for at least half your championships you shouldn’t be using “rangz” as an argument over an MVP-level player who’s never had an All-NBA teammate.

I feel like this list is separated into those who have actually watched the 25 years and those who haven’t.

Nikola Jokic has won 3 MVPs in that timeframe. Shaq and Kobe combine for 1. You don’t have to agree, but it’s silly to call this rage bait. That’s a perfectly defensible list.

I feel like I am missing something. Kobe has more 1st votes, more 2nd votes, more 3rd votes and more 4th votes than Jokic but finishes behind him? I dont understand the scoring in the ranked choice vote.

What’s interesting is the placement of the top 5 all coincide with what position they got the most votes… except Jokic and Kobe. For example, LeBron 1st got most 1st place vote, Steph 2nd got most 2nd place votes, Duncan 3rd got most 3rd place botes… then it gets weird. Kobe got the most 4th place votes while Jokic got the most 5th place votes yet Jokic finishes 4th and Kobe 5th. Additionally Kobe got more 1st, 2nd, 3rd place votes but somehow Jokic finishes higher?

Edit: wait, Kobe and Duncan’s first rings were both prior to 25 years ago. There’s literally 0 argument for anyone outside of LeBron.

The main thing you have to keep in mind here is they’re not counting anything Duncan did before 2000

TD post 2000 has one championship less, hence his movement down the list. TD and Steph are comparable in the totality of their careers, its not crazy to put one over the other.

I’m fine with it. I will say though that he won 2 championships with possibly the worst supporting cast of all time. Not one player on that team was worth two shits after they left the Lakers and Kobe. Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic, Lamar Odom, Josh Powell, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher, Luke Walton, Shannon Brown, Trevor Ariza. Pau Gasol was awesome, but he was soft as butter before Kobe toughened him up. Stat wise, sure he’s going to suffer in comparison, but the dude was a winner. Period.

Edit. And the 2008 Olympic Gold medal. Watch the redeem team on Netflix and tell me the rest of those guys would have pulled it off if Kobe didn’t lead that team.

LeBron, Kobe, Duncan should be firmly top three, with Duncan and Kobe depending on your preference but I’d put Kobe first since Duncan loses his first Finals MVP and ring.

And I know Jokic’s stats are usually just as nutty, but Shaq’s finals averages during that 3 peat were 36 points, 15 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3 blocks.  Insane performances.

Personally I’d have Shaq as #2 on this list.

For me he s on the same level of giannis almost identical resume, and if i had to rank them i would put giannis higher for the defensive factors and i guess his ring was more impressive. I would put both of them above KG though
