He’s never not been the year long favorite. Ironically, there’s never been any point where he would have won if the season ended right there but in the year long projections, he’s always been the favorite. He’s even the favorite over Kon Knueppel right now despite the fact obviously Knueppel would win if the season ended now.

It’s due to understanding larger sample sizes and the fact that he’s the youngest player gives him the most growth potential for a full season. To be fair, Kon Knueppel has closed the gap to now be almost even favorites from the beginning of the season.

Reminds me of the trajectory he had in college. He was good but not outstanding the first month of the season, then he got comfortable and dominated conference play. Wouldn’t be surprised if he averaged 20+ the rest of the season.

Not saying he will, because Luka’s rookie year was an all timer, but at this point in his rookie campaign Luka was averaging 18.5/6/4. So not entirely far off to say Coop is trending that way, at around 17/7/4 now, and his averages will just keep going up as he gets more comfortable. His assists won’t ever reach Luka levels, but they’re entirely different players.

Still a whole lotta season, but man Coop has future star written all over him.
