But that’s one series. He’s had a few bad series, but he’s also had some good ones. Crazy to let a player like him go because of one series, and decide that a declining, older Brad Beal of all people was a fit replacement.
To be fair to every other team that traded him besides the Clippers, he was perhaps the most one-dimensional walking bucket in the league until only the last season or so.
His thing was he’d give you 17-21 a game on very good efficiency, but with only OK defence and just about the fewest assists and rebounds you could imagine for a guard getting that many minutes (since 19-20 he’s averaged 30 mins a game with just 3.1 reb and 1.8 ast, which is laughably low.)
Sadly, as a Raptors fan, Gary Trent had that same weakness, while also being a less effective scorer and a worse defender.
All of this plus he doesn’t really create his own shots.
This is probably a perfect storm and place for him. Spo’s system is so egalitarian about shot distribution and the one thing Norm does better than anybody(Maybe even consistently better than old Steph now) is move his ass without the ball.
