[Highlight] Luka Doncic makes the corner 3 and then tries to give lowfives to the Pelicans bench
This is a hell of a contrast from last season. We got a depressed Luka for a good while after that trade, which made sense, but now he’s much more integrated with the team and he’s clearly having a lot of fun and it is great to see!
Depressed and confused a bit, and also maybe not at the fitness level that he is now.
Yall gotta stop Buying into the fat narrative lol. The dude Has cooked every second he’s played in the nba
While I agree, I also think him taking his fitness/nutrition more seriously will help his longevity and make him less prone to injury, the latter of which has been an issue during his otherwise dominant career
I really think it was a false narrative- Luka was not not fully healthy for the past 1.5-2 years- he was dealing with a chronic knee injury since early 2024.
I mean not being fully healthy could have somewhat been related to his fitness/weight. It’s definitely not a false narrative. He got in good shape though, good for him
Or the other way around. It’s kinda hard to lose weight when your knee is fucked up
It’s also hard on the knee recovery to be overweight and not taking good physical care for yourself.
I also imagine it’s a lot harder to get into shape when the GM fires everyone that was adjacent to Luka, medical and fitness staff, causing him to require getting his own on his payroll.
Mavericks always seemed to rush him back from whatever issues he’s had health-wise because they simply didn’t work without Luka. Also look at how they rushed AD back after the trade and how they ran Kyrie into the ground, both resulting in worse injuries.
Fitness isn’t a binary, genius. I’m a Luka fan.
I don’t think that comment was even about the fat thing, he was also returning from an injury when he first played for the lakers. Now he’s had some gametime and a full offseason, so it’s to be expected that his fitness is higher than last season
Nico couldn’t let him cook
I mean, think of it like your fiancé who you thought of as the love of your life and your forever person kicking you to the curb out of the blue and then trashing you too on the way out. Of course it would depress anybody.
Meanwhile the kids are acting like you died, leaving flowers and coffins and beers at your old house
Probably got an endorsement deal with a local tree planting company
Vibes merchant
In fairness to Luka, DeAndre Jordan has never met an NBA player he wasn’t ready to dap up. Dude may know the most other players in the NBA. I still think he got the Brooklyn contract purely based on his social skills.
DeAndre may be known back then as the posterizer but teams actually acquire him as a mentor for bigs. Did that with Jokic and now with Zion
He did some insane mentoring with Jokic turned a 2nd round pick drafted during a Taco Bell commercial into one of the best in the world
Which clowns on the Pels actually dapped him up?
It was Deandre Jordan (his old teammate)
The dap up king!
I thought it was less “good job bro” dap up than “you son of bitch” type of slap.
“Why I oughta…”
I think it was a mix between a conflicted dap and a “get you dirty ass hand off ma face”.
The phrase “fraternizing with the enemy” comes to mind
As requested by u/SubjectLibrarian8059
I would sell the entire team if I saw this shit happen
imagine buying the Pelicans
He was messing with DeAndre Jordan
Imagine if their whole bench dapped him up
Absolute demon time lmao
bro is taunting g leaguers lol
Dudes a prick
