The stats are flawed, its “efficiency based”, I think Jokic is the best player but I am pretty sure the advanced metrics would put Jokic’s game today over Luka’s game, but that’s just ridiculous when he shot 10 and was passive when he needed to be more aggressive. Luka is going to be doing all sorts of shit, sometimes things that won’t work or will result in TOVs, hurting the advanced metrics, but his level of impact on the offensive end can not be explained with stats. Today he had so many possessions where he didn’t even get an assist but it allowed his team to score some easy buckets.

There’s no stat that beats the eye test. e.g. advanced stats won’t tell you that Luka is double teamed at a much higher rate than anyone in the NBA

Id say last years mavs team at the start of the season was better. However Luka was just hurt and injured from the start due to the long playoff run to the finals and wear and tear that season prior. Grimes - NAJI - Klay - PJ - Kyrie - Luka - Gafford - Lively - Exum - Williams was a killer team.

I think the Mavs team worked better for him, it was a good fit, this Lakers team is weak defensively and that will cause issues in the postseason. The offense looks fine for now, but will AR score like this against playoff OKC defense for example? Idk
