Dwyane Wade interviews Lebron James before the game
This is gonna be a historic artifact one day
To my grandkids if u see this i want you to look up the Heat 2012 playoff run
bron will still be playing by the time it’s time to show them
His grandson will be on the same team as him
til he’s 90!
Heat vs Celtics 2012, game 6.
Why not the 2011? 😅
Bc the heat celtics series is classic
video games will have this video recording as a relic to empower future civs
It already is fam
Look at this thread from 10 years ago people generally didn’t even believe this to be possible. Amazing
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/4q09pq/lebron_has_a_legit_chance_to_break_the_all_time/
That thread is so funny to read now lol
I love the comment of “will he ever develop a jump shot” lol
Or “I don’t think he’ll play 8 more seasons, maybe 6 more” (from 9 years ago)
Thankfully this f*ckery isalmost over
That take was already bad at the time. He shot 40% fron 3 in 2013 or something like that
His jumper had shown legitimate improvement already at that point, but some of this could be recency bias because of the 2015 playoffs being his one weird down playoff year in his prime where his jumper was out of wack for 20 games, followed by shooting 31% from 3 for the 15-16 season (his midrange looks normal that year though).
Otherwise, the upgrade was already apparent. He was, in the playoffs, a 33-34% mid 32% on 3 in Cleveland 05-10, to a 39% mid 35% on 3 in Miami. Those are pretty big jumps.
Notably his late prime (16-20) was even better, 41% mid and 37 from 3.
Come on, bro. He shoots 37% outside 3 feet for career.
Wasn’t and still is not a bad take.
Y’all really hate data and facts.
So, above every single season 3P% average?
He shoots below average from 3 for career.
37% is not below average so you’re either wrong about the number or you’re wrong about your assessment.
While ago I was reading some article from 2011 about the MVP and the writer said Rose deserved the MVP because he actually works on his game and LeBron still doesn’t have a jumper.
Even funnier is the goal posts have moved again. Now people say that record is just cuz of years played and that he’s stat padding.

This comment was great, crazy to think that playing with Bronny actually worked out.
Crazy to think that Austin Reaves somehow managed to give the father and son the alley oop he was pertaining to.
What’s crazier is that AR is still underage when that comment was made lol.
It was probably Austin who made that comment
reaves was famously a kobe fanboy and not a huge lebron fan, so if hes in that thread its probably one talking shit lmao
everyone in that thread is completely rational too. lebron is just that great
Just goes to show some things are above what is rational
Like the Luka trade.
ikr…like imagine how looney tunes you’d look if 10 years ago you typed out that he’d be dropping ~25ppg and throwing down reverse lob dunks in 24/25…is just automatically think that person didn’t believe it and they were just trolling lol
Yet we still don’t know if he could do it in sandals
Damn that’s crazy. Overwhelming sentiment was lebron had no shot.
wait…so the fuckery did last a bit longer? 😄🤭
Went down from 65% TS to 58% (worst since 07/08). Naturally they expected it to continue dropping but he’s a 60.5% TS over the next 10 years lol
Cool read, thanks for linking this.
And now he’s done it and even extending the record out of reach, some dumb-asses are still treating it like it’s no big deal. “Oh all he has is longevity”.
dude averages 27 points a game for his career sure needs more than longevity!
u/matthitsthetrails your prediction was pretty spot on lol
What did he say?
the guy never gets injured. i could legit see him playing into his early 40s if he wanted to, just for sake of crushing all the previous records. he’s obviously not a volume scorer, but i could see him slowly transitioning to becoming more of a finesse offensive player
Damn, yeah that comment aged gracefully.
god we didn’t even know he would do it with a covid year
Then top comment is “Can LeBron play 21 seasons though? We thought Duncan was age-defiant and it became very apparent this year that it was significantly impacting him offensively.” aged like fine wine lol.
Doubting lebron to play at year 21 is now funny.
Year 21 he is still top 5 in scoring hahaa
There are quite a few comments that believed he could do it but they were getting a lot of push back and people weren’t believing in him to be able to do it.
r/demonicdimples “I don’t see Lebron playing 8 more seasons. More like 6 more. I think he’ll finish 3rd, possibly 2nd. It’s really up to his kids.”
This is so good
Most of the comments have aged like fine, fine…milk.
It makes sense, in 2016 the previous generation of stars fell off hard as they hit their mid 30s. Dirk looked stiff as hell, Kobe was a shell of his former self, Tim Duncan and Vince Carter were averaging single digits, and KG was doing his retirement tour in Minnesota. Even his fellow draftmates, Carmelo and Wade, were clearly past their peak. In fact, the oldest all-NBA player at the time was already 31 year old LeBron.
Nowadays we have Steph, Harden, KD and obviously LeBron still playing like stars at 36-37+ years old. It seems obvious now that LeBron would maintain a high level of play, but at the time their line of thinking was very logical.
The comment of him being maybe a 19/4/4 guy at 36 is so understandable and then you look at him getting his 4th ring, 4th FMVP averaging 25/10/8 (career high in assists) when he was 35 and then 25/8/8 when he was 36. He’s an anomaly. He put up 24/8/8 last year at 40 and we’re looking at him now thinking he’s finally starting to fall off a bit
damn I remember that thread, it did feel like a stretch. I feel so old now lmao
Man. r/nba and Reddit in general was so much better 10 years ago (and beyond). Light humor with lots of discussion. It definitely flip flopped over the years
yep
Wow imagine if these two ever played with each other
LeBron is the quintessential G-League success story. Happy to see good things happening for him
Much credit to the Lakers scouting department for spotting this late developer.
The Akron Champion! A lot of fire in this youngster. He’s been in a lot of these type matches, Brain.
Sciatica survivor, LeBron James.
they could probably win one, or two, or three, or four, or five, or six, or maybe even seven championships!
i can’t wait even imagine the number of chips they’d get! not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4….
This has to be the first time a player has been interviewed by a former player turned commentator who was drafted with that player, no?
Jay Williams maybe? I don’t have any data, just seems plausible given his situation
maybe Landry fields
Jay ”FMVP” Williams in my 2k Knicks save
Wade is already in HOF
That’s my childhood right there
Seeing him melo and bron go 5, 3 and 1 in the 2003 draft brings back memories
Don’t forget Heatles legend Chris Bosh at #4.
don’t forget the underrated legend darko milicic at #2!
And that veteran of ESPN morning shows, y’all’s favorite, NBA champion Kendrick Perkins.
I’ll never forget when Lebron announced he was switching his jersey number after playing the heat. That’s when i started to dream
We’re getting old man lol
Dwyane Wade rigged the 2020 dunk contest #NeverForget
i love hashtags they have become so underrated #facts
#Fifteen9/11s
PoundMeToo 🫦
Worst moment of his career
I remember that lmaoo
Who cares
I CARE
Stop caring
YOURE NOT MY DAD
Are you sure?
That dunk was MAYBE a nine, but an eight was absolutely a fair score
If you’re going to jump over a player, I don’t care how tall he is, Tako having to duck his head that low makes it look worse from an aesthetic perspective
AG deserved to win it when he did the under the legs dunk over Stuff
Lebron still has his Joy
Wish his toes looked normal. He’d be perfect if they did
Ayyooo
I legitimately believe that him getting Luka and Austin is going to result in him playing a little bit longer than even he expected
Man, it must be surreal for Wade, mustn’t it?
They were in the same draft class, went head to head for several years, then became teammates and won rings together. Then they went their separate ways, and Wade eventually decided on 2019 that he was done. A year later, LeBron wins another ring and gets named FMVP. Then half a decade later he still makes All-NBA. And now Wade does and interview with him on the sideline, and the guy is still throwing down alley-oop dunks.
Insane.
I can say it looks similar to Nadal - Federer rivalry. Rivals > teammates > friends. Just talent recognize talent.
Dwade and Lebron are my favourite duo of all time.
That’s crazy considering 2013 has gotta be an all time heart breaker
It hurt at the moment but 2014 made up for it. I have a lot respect for the Heat as an organization and consider them my East team. Those Finals match ups were peak basketball. Legends against legends.
Right? I don’t understand people who put down their rivals.
We didn’t lose to scrubs in 2013. We lost to the greatest player of all time in his prime together with at worst the third best shooting guard or all time who were being coached by someone who will go down as one of the smartest coaches of all time.
Theb in 2014 we didn’t just beat them, we swept them.
You didn’t sweep them in 2014
We won by 15 points in each win lol.
Look man you beat the pants off them but nobody in the world calls 4-1 a sweep. Words mean something. Swept is four nil. At most you can call it a “gentleman’s sweep”
I did not respect spo in that equation enough. I thought it was all star power (and obviously that was a giant factor) but only as the heat teams changed did I realize how good spo is
2013⁄14 season gave it all back
wild coming from a spurs fan lol
We whooped em.
When they were in their flow every single game was just a highlight reel. Must watch basketball every time they were healthy
All I know is lebron and BJ Jr is the new duo
while i won’t say they’re my favorite, i have a massive admiration for timmy-tony-manu and pops. i don’t know how anyone who loves basketball doesn’t love those teams. i hurt less if they beat you, and meant so much more if your boys beat them.
Hell of an interview.
Why is Wade constantly reminding Bron that it’s his 23rd season lol
Close friends giving each other shit, probably?
Win lose or draw have fun
Great interview
Wade washed up over 10 years ago man… holy fuck lol
He’s like three years older and had a couple bad surgeries from what I remember, but yeah, LeBron’s a tank.
this is the king’s 12th season since leaving miami. that’s buck wild. he played a whole career and then thought let’s have another career too. what about second career?
We all come from playing the game for free so why not go out and play freely; that’s all i can give em #FREEGAME #TRIPLEDOUBLEENTENDRE #LEBRONYEARINMY40s
Hey Bron, in year 23, how do you feel, after 23 years, in year 23, about being on a contender again, in year 23?
Surreal
Butler and Morant catching strays
Wade has been retired for six years and was inducted to the Naismith Hall of Fame three years ago and LeBron is still playing somehow.
41 years old and still grinding.
My Hero!!!
didn’t Wade retire like 5 years ago? Damn
D gets paid a bonus every time he mentions to Bron this this is his 23rd season.
All Lebron’s other cohorts are long retired and here he is still in the NBA. Insane.
It’s impressive that he’s still going, but even more so that he is much better than most of his peers
That last question was rambling and insane lol
I remember when we lost to these guys and then evened it the next year, amazing battles we had.
Thanks for posting Ashy Larry. This lit me up
He won’t stop until he throws a lob to Bronny and Bronny throws one to him in the same game.
Its crazy how he makes Dwayne wade seem short
No one’s catching his point totals. And… he may play one more year if they win a chip lol.
How many years has he played? Wade didn’t mention it so I’m a bit confused
shorts idea:
‘it’s all about he joy. Once you lose the joy of game nothing matters, it’s all irrelevant….’
camera cuts to sad and joyless looking AD.
cue to Curb end credits.
The longevity of LeBron is insane. Wade’s been out of the league for years. LBJ still trucking along.
DWade made him a champion
Bro just gtfo of the Lakers, you’ll cost Luka the championship.
