Due to Several Injuries, the Grizzlies are Starting Vince Williams Jr at PG. Over His Last 5 Games, He is Averaging 11 Assists on Just 27 MPG

One of the most bizarre developments this season is Vince Williams randomly becoming a point god. He is our 5th string PG and normally plays a ²⁄₃ hybrid, but apparently he figured out how to move like prime Chris Paul. He has the defense too, but still needs to work on his shot consistency. He was a tank year darling in the 2023-2024 season but struggled with injuries himself last year.

He tied Ja Morant’s team record with SEVENTEEN assists in Wednesday against the Pelicans.

17 assists to 6 turnovers last game is still a great ratio and he had two games with 9+ assists and 3 or fewer turnovers in each, so i think he could be the league’s newest full time PG

It’s a testament to this system that Iisalo runs when your PG is looking to pass first. As soon as everyone is in motion and Edey gets set for a screen, if you’re looking to pass for a quality shot instead of looking to score yourself, there’s bound to be someone open. In that last game, Vince only had 6 FGA, good for 7th on the team on a night where he logged the second most minutes.
