I had lost hope when Vanvleet went down, but Reed is even better than I thought he could be this season.

He’s started these last two games with KD out. Ime might just keep him in that role when we get Easy Money Sniper back.

If you’re that confident in the player, you always go BPA, but the idea of pairing Trae and Reed together long term had to have been scary.

Sounds scary, but man defensively that sounds like a real headache. At least for the rockets you have Amen and Reed. If Trae were a little bit more accurate they prob could have jumped the gun.

This is the best part. He can drive well. That move on Podz near the end of the game was great.

He’s still too weak and needs to improve defensively.

FVV is still more efficient in that regard.

Fred raises the floor. Reed raises the ceiling

Defense is still shaky. His hands and timing have somehow continued getting better, but he still gets blown by or misses an assignment a few times a game. It’s still just experience stuff though.

He can’t stay in front of players like FVV. FVV also controls the pace of the game better but that’s likely due to way more experience. I’m still a bit concerned of Reed on the defensive end against top talent in the league in a possible 7 game series, Murray was hunting him and scoring at will a few games ago.

FVV is a great defender and runs offense pretty well despite being an inefficient scorer. Thus he always makes a big impact.  I would say Sheppard has already clearly surpassed him in terms of scoring but I would not be surprised if FVV still has more impact atm. But Sheppard is clearly going to keep developing so you probably look to move FVV. 

If he continues at this pace he takes FVV’s spot by season end imo.

POA defense, ball handling, and limiting turnovers

Ball security (he can fix that) and functional strength (idk if he can fix that).

I think it’s just the trajectory of his career and not your team’s fault this time

Me too, I was actually starting to buy into the “We screwed up passing on Castle for Sheppard” narrative. Glad he proved me and many others wrong and finally putting that rest. Both players are perfect for the teams that their on 

He is a better shooter. But FVV is legit floor general and better defender. Reed can only get that with time. He will get there.
