[Highlight] Cade misses the game-tying FT
He was 14-15 from the line before this
Ouch that’s got to hurt.
The other miss was also in the clutch bro was clearly gassed
Mustve been a really long clutch to extend to the 2nd quarter
Clutch is defined as within 5 points in the last 36 minutes of the game, duh
Always clutch, time is
Is time clutch?
never heard of the space-clutch continuum?
Growing pains
Tbf it’s the hardest free throw of them all
CHOKE JOB! I’m kidding. Statistically speaking he was bound to miss this one lol
also that call was pretty trash.
I’m biased in this instance, but I also do think that it’s good for them to call these borderline ones so as to discourage fouling up 3 as a completely bulletproof plan.
Should be one that you have to time up right.
Law of averages
It was a bad roll too, I feel sorry for him
No bad rolls
I was honestly hoping for a miss followed by a stuff from JD or Stew. The fact we didn’t get the rebound is almost as bad as the miss. We’re a young team, though. This stuff is going to keep happening. Which is good. Gives more opportunities to learn and improve
Great players also miss. He’ll be aight.
jesus christ.
The only two highlights from this game posted on this sub being two Cade lowlights is quite comical
Yeah what’s up with that this game was electric and absolutely no highlights.
The Celtics games generally have very few highlights posted this year because we are considered “ass” and “not contenders for anything” compared to last years
Celtics highlights in general don’t do well in r/nba
true, people do not like the celtics. i am one of those people.
Ironically its not even the players fault. I dislike the Celtics. Their everything.
that fkin leprechaun i swear
damn i dont know what to do with all the honest and yet negative comments here. happy thanksgiving i guess
i have no problem with you, your team or any other fans of yours
the lepprechaun just pisses me off, hes too smug for no reason
no reason
I’ll give you 18 reasons
Fr tho it has nothing to do with the players. Ppl hate them as an organization lol
Yeah not only highlights but national media and even podcast coverage doesn’t cover the Celtics as much as other teams in winning positions would have. I think it’s also the Pats dislike bleeding over.
I’ve never seen many even when they were on their championship run or last season as the reigning champs.
It is so funny from seeing the Celtics go from probably top 3 in highlights posted last year to bottom 5 this year.
There will still be some good plays too, but I’ll check the subreddit, and there will be zero highlights the entire game. Guess that’s the price of being mediocre.
We never had that many even the last 2 seasons tbh
Derrick White went insane, which should’ve warranted its own highlight reel.
Also, was stoked to see Scheierman have a nice game.
No one wearing a lakers jersey so you won’t see anything about it in this sub
Sorry I would’ve but I was watching the 2023 Mystery/Horror movie “Thanksgiving” with the game on my second monitor. Was actually better than I expected
Peak adhd
Great game. Was rooting for yall to break the record.
Electric? Did you watch the final~15 minutes of real-time? It was all free throws and nothing else
It’s been said so many times but they ideally would try to come up with a solution for those situations.
Prob cause it physically hurts to look at that bright ass court 😭
It’s abysmal.
It’s always been like that at least for Detroit and Boston games from what I can tell. Also the general lack of highlights in this subreddit
Because the East is shit. Half the teams are tank jobs, the other half are mediocre.
The sub needs more highlights in general. It’s now mainly agendas. Does Cade really have that many haters or are these just the most important possessions of the game?
Cafe barely has any haters. Players screwing up have just always gotten way more engagement than good plays in this sub
Be the change you want to see
There’s games like this where people only push agenda highlights, and then there’s other games where people will spam post every single thing that happens
Do you mean every Lakers game?
I didn’t want to say it out loud lol
Only highlights allowed on this sub are from Jokic or Luka
More like theyre the only players with fans dedicated enough to spam the plays
SGA, Steph and Lebron as well
sga’s gotten like one highlight posted here in the last 2 games
SGA gets very little highlight-wise, just statlines.
Western conference games get a ton of highlights
A lot of people say stuff like this, like a lot, but not 1 person among those group actually starts posting other highlights so idk what that’s all about.
Umm why can’t pistons or Celtics fans make the highlights and upload them?
Because only karma farmers bother to post highlights in here and nothing gets karma quite like endless laker and Luka highlights.
“Why are there no clips?…Oh I can post them? No no no thats the karma farmers job. Im just here to complain” They really dont get it
Had a good game too. Hit big 3s and ik he’s not known for his 3s.
The court is ugly as fuck
I hate how obsessed this sub is with lowlights and bad stat lines, corny af
You’re going to get a dozen Luka highlights every game and you’re going to like it.
That plus the turnover he had before were brutal. I know that’s eating him alive
i really hope not, like i know as insanely competitive people it probably is the case..but i hope he/the team can see it from a broader perspective: you went from record breaking losses to nearly breaking a franchise record of WINS!!! like that’s awesome stuff
Cade is surprisingly mature/chill for all the pressure he’s under at such a young age. I think he’ll be ight…
if anything he will use it as motivation, there’s still like 60ish(?) games to play so plenty opportunity for another winning streak
Nothing for Cade could probably compare to the pressure of him becoming a dad at Junior High.
That was a really smart defensive play. One of those moments as a pro where you realize the top players are also gonna know your tendencies and make you pay for them if you aren’t careful.
People were focusing on whether Walsh fouled Cade before or after the shot attempt, but it looked to me like Minott fouled him before both. Glad it didn’t impact the end of the game.
Even if the Celtics got screwed by that, that tactic is so anti climactic that i wouldn’t be surprised if they change something in the next few years to kill it. People wanna see games decided by shooting not free throws ffs
Yeah I hate that tactic. The last 2 min of this 4th qtr took a half hour
It’s been going on for awhile. I’m surprised it hasn’t really been discussed. It’s kind of similar to the transition take foul, which got reworked. But as far as I know there hasn’t been much talk about changing the late foul up 3 (or more).
It’s far too complicated to set a rule around this foul compared to a clear path.
Rules based on intention end up as complicated judgment calls to make, especially in a split-second decision.
I think the easiest thing be a rule like this “With 30 seconds or less left in the game a defender while up 3 points can not intentionally (refs disgression) foul an offensive player. If a player is intentionally fouled it is ruled a one shot technical and the shooting team retains possession.”
Obviously the intentional foul is the hardest thing to rule. But it wouldn’t be nearly the most subjective ruling NBA refs have to make. It might get worked around at times, but it would certainly limit the ways you could foul up 3.
IMO you don’t even need to introduce ref judgement. Just make any non-shooting foul outside the 3 pt line in the last 30 seconds either 1 shot + the ball.
Even if you play too aggressive on D and foul on the perimeter, you’re still up 2, and this would basically guarantee a shot to tie for the team that’s down.
Rules shouldn’t be different based on who’s winning and losing. Just make it so that for all non-shooting fouls in the bonus in the last 30 seconds, the team can decide if they want 2 FTs or 1 FT and possession.
That swings the other way to benefiting the fouled side too much
Just make it only apply to non shooting fouls outside of the 3 pt line. Even if you foul being too aggressive on perimeter D, you’d still be up 2 with a good chance to win.
team shouldn’t be punished for having a lead in the clutch, any rule change should go both ways
It was such an awful ending
Yeah, they gotta do something about it. Same as how they got rid of the take foul.
Completely agree. Especially now that it’s getting to the point where every team is doing it pretty consistently
Yeah shit was a lame way to end things. I hope a change comes soon. My least fav thing in this sport is how the last two minutes can take half an hour. It’s even worse than the NFL imo
Maybe it’s more controversial, but I’d try to kill the fouling when you’re down too.
Obviously that’s a lot harder to do when a team will defend more physically in that spot even if they’re not trying to foul. Doesn’t make it any less annoying though, and even if there can’t be a perfect solution to it there definitely could be steps taken to make it less common.
But the Pistons were fouling too. So some fouling on purpose would be ok, just not that other kind of fouling on purpose?
More commercials at the cost of viewer enjoyment? I’m sure Adam Silver is going to get right on that as soon as he’s done figuring out how many more streaming services he can lock games behind.
Worse part of the game imo. Every take foul should be 2 ft and the ball, enough of these 10 second free throw contests that last 20 minutes
Also happened way too quickly. The foul with 9 second to go is crazy.
Yeah I don’t think it was a shooting foul
The whole fouling meta endgame is evolving and refs giving obvious attempts to bait 3 point fouls instead is just another way to squeeze potential points out of the end of the game.
It’s getting really annoying when the game has 10 seconds left and you know that means it still has 20 minutes…
I’m at a bar with no sound so I’m a bit lost. Did the refs review that call on their own? Looked like the girl ref called it on the floor
Tony Brothers overruled her as the crew chief, and then it seemed like they looked on the monitors very briefly after
I think the monitor was just to check the clock. It went a little crazy on the broadcast for a minute there.
I don’t think they reviewed it. I think one ref overruled the other one.
Ball don’t lie
Dude carried tonight. Loss isn’t on him
yall got a legit superstar. must be nice.
He one of the brightest young players in the league rn.
every time he went sit, the bench couldn’t keep the lead. he balled out, he is only going to get better
Cade scores 42 and yall post his miss nice bias
It’s not a conspiracy. People tend to focus on the make/miss that ends the game.
It’s the inversed highlight to lowlight ratio for every team other than the Lakers or Denver
I mean the most important ft miss of the game will obviously get posted. Now I have no idea why no other highlights from the game were ignored.
What? One of the best players in the league lost the game on a FT of course people are gonna post it. Bias has nothing to do with it. Some of y’all are hell bent on having a chip on your shoulder
It’s the most important play of the game, I mean no one is saying damn Cade you suck in this thread, everyone’s talking about what a good game he had lol
Minott absolutely got to him before he started the shooting motion. Ridiculous that this was deemed 3 shots. Ball don’t lie, I guess.
I think that’s the first time I’ve seen a ref call the half court heave a shooting foul in the clutch ever. I know Jokic has been trying to get that call for 2 seasons now and they always call it on the floor no matter what until tonight
Yeah, a lot of stars try it and never get rewarded for it. As usual, Brothers is a fucking agent of chaos.
Cade’s so ethical he knew he didn’t deserve that extra free throw.
I don’t know man. Felt like the right call. He was gathering and going up
If it was just Walsh I’d agree, but Minott was there well before he gathered.
Minott got to him before Walsh did
Agreed, that was 100% a foul during the “shot attempt” and also a lame way to end the game. I get it’s smart but NBA needs to figure that out or every close game is going to end in a free throw off
Gg though
No one is denying Walsh fouled during the attempt. Minott fouled him well before.
It doesn’t always work. It’s not a powerful weapon. I agree it’s boring. I hate it. I feel like players could draw more unexpected 3 free throw shooting foul from it like Cade did tho.
But yeah. Not a fan
I’d like to think that call evened out the suss no-call for the 5 second Celtic inbound earlier (it was close and the broadcast feed made it difficult to tell when Brothers started counting)
that’s the fatal flaw in basketball rules.
It must be hate on Cade night. Only two highlights posted from the game and they’re both bad looks for Cade
it’s a shame. a couple rough spots late but overall he was nasty tonight
As someone that roots for a team that has players that seem nice but get hated on by this sub at times, you get used to it after a while.
this sub doesn’t give a fuck about a good play or game unless it was by Jokic/Luka/Steph/LeBron lol
Is it only mods who post highlights?
Ball dont fuckin lie
That was hilarious that he got the first two and then missed the last one
Thanks Magic
9x out of 10, he makes that. unfortunately, this is the 1x out of 10 he misses
Tony Brothers tried his hardest to bone the Celtics as usual
If he wanted to he couldve just called the fouls on Duren everytime
Brutal to miss the last one
Shouldn’t have gotten 3 shots. Ball don’t lie!
Dumb last minute of timeouts and fouls, disgusting
People lie but the ball doesn’t
Cade is a star. What a game.
So sad that BS free throw fouling didn’t cost Boston the game. Teams need to be punished for that crap. It’s unwatchable..
The league needs to change the rules. It’s like the take fouls in the open court. Till the league decides to fix it, it’s the right play and it’s terrible for the product.
Agreed 100%, I understand why it’s done but it’s not fun for fans
It’s terrible and honestly I don’t know the best way to fix it. I guess give teams the option of 2 FTs or 1 and the ball under 2 min? Idk… but it would also end intentional fouling (which honestly I’d be fine with). The end of NBA games are generally awful.
I don’t understand how the league gets so much hype over buzzer beaters and then doesn’t try to push back against this type of scenario.
It’s generally shenanigans like this that has increased the rate of buzzer beaters over the years though so if anything, that’s the exact reason they don’t want to change these rules.
Fouling down points to get the ball back increases buzzer beaters, fouling while winning prevents them.
I mean
Celtics kinda punished themselves for that strategy. It doesn’t always work
I’ve felt that way for a long time now. Someone needs to come up with something to stop that strategy. It turns exciting end-of-game down-to-the-wire action to anticlimactic unbearably slow viewing.
What if, when in the bonus, you got 3 free throws if you’re fouled in 3pt territory
I hate it too because the Celtics actually did lose a game doing it last year
Why are we ok with the losing team fouling, but not the winning team?
That foul was so stupid. Cade was clever
That might have been a goaltend on either team.
Good game but nba should not have timeouts the final 2 min or 1 only. Disgusting final 2 min to watch killed the game for many of us.
Also nba should not allowing take fouls at the end.m to stop a 3 pt game tying attempt. We wanna see game winning attempts man with no stoppages
No timeouts the final 2 minutes would be deranged
That last 20 seconds felt like an hour. Jesus.
rule needs to be if you follow on the court while shot clock exceeds game clock its three free throws if its past three point line. It just kills the game and fun
Yep something like this needs to be done. How the hell does the nba keep ruining tight games at the end. Just. Dumb
JB taking beef stew for a lil dance, otherwise Stewart might’ve got that rebound.
Brunson would never! (jk, i’m terrified whenever our stars shoot FTs)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen, at least not in a very long while, the refs give 3 FTs in that situation where everyone knows the defense is purposely trying to foul. Usually they just wave off the attempt immediately, even if it seems like it was ‘in the act’ of shooting.
Great there goes my 100 vc in 2k thanks Cade 😡
I fell to my knees in the middle of Walmart when he missed
Refs really tried to make this go to OT smh.
crazy
Damn 😔
that’s rough, buddy
Refs: We going to OT and a 14 game streak!
Ball: Don’t lie
Cross post it to r/WatchPeopleDieInside
I was surprised we got the rebound
I know I’m beating a dead horse, but those floors are asinine.
Charlotte is the only one that isn’t an assault on the senses.
He’s going for 60 next game
Bro’s gonna be sleeping in the gym after this one
I can’t give shit to ANY player who misses that free throw.
Like god damn what pressure.
Especially with that ugly court.
I’m gonna pretend I didn’t have a full-on heart attack in that split second the ball left his hand
Fuck
BDL
Credit to Jaylen Brown for not only boxing out but full on forcing out a ready to murder ISAIAH STEWART
Free fries baby!!!!
Should the clock start ticking once the ball touches the rim?
Guys i jinxed this one. As he was firing off all 3 i was talking about how he’s a future hall of famer. Sorry pistons fans.
The writing was already on the wall with that second ft. What a brutal stretch for him man
I hate these courts
O this cade and them???
They need another star that can close out games!
Please note how ready Jaylen was
If they missed. They give us a chance to rie the game. If they miss… they are wayyyyyyy more likley to rebound and put it back.
Court is putrid
The only important part of basketball is the last 5 minutes
Gotta shoot free throws underhand, Rick Barry style
He was given that shot to by ol’ Tony Brothers’ bitch ass. Kudos to the kids in the front row chanting ‘NOT ABOUT YOU’ to Brothers in his face. Great moment.
It’s insane that the NBA is so blatant about allowing referee bias - and it’s been YEARS!!!
ROFL dude is a fucking loser and the NBA is trying to center him as the next major thing.
