The Orlando Magic scored 51-points in the 2nd quarter, setting a new franchise record for points in the quarter. Their offensive rating is 10th in the league before this game, the first time they have an above average offense in 14 years.
Member when everyone on Reddit hated Bane after the first week and wanted the coach fired?
you saying that the nba playoffs aren’t determined within the first three games of the regular season?
Yup. It’s completely different than the MVP award.
fair play
Finals, you mean
Sadly puts away my championship hat and shirt
me too buddy
And when people thought the Bulls were legit contenders
Hey man, we might be competitive enough to miss the play-in the good way this year. Progress!
I think a significant number of people still want Mosley fired tbf.
They had to much talent to continue to struggle this is what most thought they’d be a top 4 east team at least
I was thinking that was premature. They were also shitting on suggs.
Reddit and overreacting, name a more iconic duo.
Plays better in a quick ball movement based system. Not too comparability with Paolo rn unless he changes his style
Remember when Paolo went down and the Magic offense became the best in the nba?
We’re not ready for that conversation yet
Just needed Peanut Butter 5 out of the way
We can…score points. Why didn’t someone tell us this years ago?
What happens when you have young energetic players on the court.
KCP never had these bursts of speed in a transition
We never pushed the ball in transition last year. Slow, deliberate pace.
Worst signing imaginable for us. Idk how they thought he’d fit but then we don’t go after Klay when we needed a pure shooter. Idk
Do you think the offense works better without Paolo stopping the ball? Pretty interesting that this little surge has happened while he’s been out
If you ask me, 100%.
I’m 100% a believer that Franz is the best player on our team and it isn’t even close. Paolo is an incredible talent and a great athlete, but he needs to learn to play WITH the team more. It helps that I am a huge fan of the Euro style ball as opposed to the iso heavy US style Paolo likes to play.
I think they are both important for our team to take the next level, but Paolo has to follow Franz’s lead not the other way around.
Paolo Ewing theory
Anthony Black breakout season
Without Paolo too which is kinda crazy
paolo ewing theory truthers might be feasting
It’s crazy because he’s a great iso/postup guy that can abuse other players, kinda like Melo. The real key to this is DeSilva, he’s like a plug and play for Franz/Paolo and I’m so glad we drafted him.
Helps that that we have a competent AB in CFL now.
I think his problem is that the ball sticks to him too much a lot of the time. He chooses to just iso and shoot too much, when really his athletic ability would be much better served being more of a rim runner that has the ball passed to him in the interior. I think part of that is bad offensive coaching, and part of that is bad habits from Paolo. Not saying he always needs to defer, I just think he should be playing off ball more and have Franz be the main one with the ball
The first 12 games though, the offense was better with Paolo on the floor than it was off it by a decent margin, and he had the highest offensive rating and net rating out of their five most played players.
I know in past years, Paolo has gotten shit for his on/off numbers so this argument would make more sense, but this year they were better than Carter/Bane/Black/Franz and the team was better with him on than off pre-injury.
Paolo was definitely playing differently this season, especially with the starters. Franz and Suggs TS% goes through the roof when he is sharing the floor with them.
The team’s defense just wasn’t holding up at the start of the season, as well as our bench players weren’t nearly as effective as they’ve been in recent games. I think a lot of people haven’t been watching and are basing Paolo off of previous years. It’ll be interesting to see how the team looks when he comes back though. If they continue shooting well while taking advantage of his gravity the offense should look really nice.
Can we enjoy something? This group hasn’t won a First round, can we wait, they are 22-24, Jesus Christ
What’s their record been since Paolo went out? It’s not crazy.
Coach Prunty and Shammgod big additions to the staff
Are the Orlando Magic seen as potential contenders again
Or was it just a lucky shooting night
We are 10-4 (assuming this lead holds lol) over our last 14. I’d like to think we are legit.
I was just wondering after social media went on their tirade laughing at Bane’s ejection + Orlando’s future
Glad i havent fully given up on yall lmao.
I was so hype after the first bane game 😂
With much better competition than many of the teams ahead of us.
We get to catch up in January
To offer some objective set of eyes, this Magic team is really good, but the shooting can look iffy still and cost them games. Literally back to back against Boston they once shoot 17⁄36 from 3 and comfortably win the game, the next game they shoot 7⁄30 and lose the game.
I know that shooting=important is not a big revelation here but it still costs them games and will do so. All of that said, they are still a really good team, and even with their shooting they do manage to win games but imo thats gonna be the difference vs good teams , when you can’t shoot it’s highlighted even more in the playoffs
Maybe because that second game you mentioned was a b2b on the road? Anyone with eyes could clearly see their energy was shot that game and our center rotation was dog water.
Although watching Jase, Penda, and Jett on the court was super enjoyable
Champions fix that though
I have them as the 4th best/likely in the east. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go on a deep run
When Paolo is out they are scary
Edgecomb, Embiid, PG, and Oubre were out tbf.
That said Magic are legit. And they’re not fully healthy. They took care of business and didn’t fold to “easy” competition.
When are PG and Embiid NOT out…?
This current stretch of bad offenses is pretty insane by the way, I’m looking through and no team really comes close in the last 15 years. Every franchise had at worst a 4-6 year stretch with a good offense to break it up.
For example Brooklyn: LLLWWLLLLLLWWWLL. The Ws are years from the Boston trade and KD.
or the Kings last 17 years: LLLLWLLLLLWLWLWWWL.
The Pistons are their only match, from 2011⁄12: LLLLLLLLLLLLLWW. Last year’s Pistons stopped this from going the same 14 years as the Magic.
The answer is gambling
Zach Lowe is gonna be beside himself
Why
He has been praising the Magic.
I’m saying he’s gonna be ecstatic because he’s been noting how long it’s been since they’ve been top 20 for years.
Oh, okay agreed lol.
The Paolo discourse over the first 5-6 games of the season was crazy.
He wasn’t playing today.
A different kind of Paolo discourse rages on.
This season with Paolo they’re 6-6…. w/o they’re 5-2 and last season with Paolo they were 21-25 and 20-16 w/o
And the crown was going nuts because Drummond wanted to fight Carter as they’re down by like 30 in the first half. Typical Philly fans would rather see a fight than win. Perpetual losing franchise
Can’t help but notice they play way better without Paolo
I got download to shit when I said the magic play better without Banchero. Then Banchero went out…
Sports betting used to be cool when it was illegal. Now that everyone and they mom is betting. It’s so obvious that they’re rigging games.
During the cup games you would hear the announcers talk about “oh the point differential matters. Blah blah blah.”
They only say that to get you to be that these games would be close.
Instead they’re making them all blowouts
Sports betting was never cool, it’s always been a cancer that continues to spread.
I completely agree that it’s a cancer
Boy this is not going to look great for the Paolo defenders that the team has been this amazing without him again
Most normal people would be like holy shot this team looks awesome, and they don’t even have their best player.
Who’s that?
Paolo
Hard to say he’s definitely better than Franz - I feel like they’re 1A and 1B.
Thats not a criticism of Paolo though, I just love Franz and think he’s a great player.
What’s the discussion regarding Paolo? I thought they wanted to reinforce the Duo of (Paolo + Franz) with Bane?
A third body to help whenone of Paolo/Franz is off the court.
The discussion is that Paolo and Franz don’t seem to be as good of a pair synergistically as they should be, and the offense pretty much does just as good with both of them on the floor as it does with just Franz on the floor. Paolo tends to be very ball dominant and slow the offense down, but he gets a lot of buckets, while Franz distributes more and the team as a whole when he is at the reigns usually plays better and with more pace. So a lot of people would prefer if Franz was the definitive leader of the team instead of Paolo right now
i mean he didn’t say he’s definitely better than franz
Shut up man enjoy the blowout
You know we were 4-1 with him in the starting lineup before he started missing games due to injury. It’s not like him being out was the impetus to the team winning.
Come playoff time they gonna need Paolo
They beat a team with most of its starting lineup missing. Take a chill pill.
“Is Paolo Banchero the worst player in the NBA?”
