Most OKC fans who watched through the tank years would tell you Giddey was a good player and would be around for years just didn’t fit our time line or style of play.

If we don’t draft Jdub a core trio of SGA Josh and Chet would be a good contending team, but we did draft Jdub and getting Caruso in the trade launched us to a whole other level. Getting Giddey to a team beginning their rebuild/retool and looking to play fast was the best thing for him.

During his rookie season I had something like a 18pts/9 assists/8 rebounds kinda peak for him, it took a bit of a dip after the Mavs playoffs but since the trade and subsequent trade of Lavine he has been exceeding that

he was always good, just on okc he was relegated to being a 3 & D because sga & jdub, which were arguably his two biggest weaknesses.

now he has a very consistent 3 ball & his defense is more than serviceable.

I don’t think anyone knowledgeable about the game thought OKC fleeced the Bulls. Both sides got what they needed and both sides are probably more than happy with the trade at this point.

He put up 17/8/6 as a 20 year old playing second fiddle to SGA, he was always a super talented player, it’s just that JDub showed up the next year and Shai took another major step, josh got squeezed out

Most okc fans were trying to explain that this wasn’t a fleecing. He was always able to do this. He was just a bad fit next to SGA who also needed the ball

The other replies to this are right about him always being able to put up good counting stats as a lead guard, but he also got way better at shooting and way better at using his height as an advantage off the dribble. He’s also stepped up his defense after kind of getting in Donovan’s doghouse over it during the first half of last year.

Dude was a 31% 3pt shooter averaging 2 FTA per 36 in OKC. Since the LaVine trade, he’s been a 42% 3pt shooter averaging 6+ FTA per 36.

He finally got to play his role on offence plus our team was a mess last year. It was just pass the ball to LaVine and wait for either him, Coby or Vuc to pop off.

He showed this on the Thunder. The problem on the Thunder is he sucked when he shared a court with SGA which is kind of a big problem. Games SGA was out he’d have some monster games but they could not share a court and I don’t think it was an ego thing I just think they may be incompatible players.

Giddey improved all of last year. He was working on attacking the basket, finishing at the rim, handling the ball in traffic and shooting the 3 from his first game with the Bulls. (I know I have Sonics flair but I’m a Bulls fan now, I watched almost every game last year). We’re seeing the results of hard work and dedication.

I remember seeing a stat that Josh Giddey has one of the fastest triple doubles in history. He’s a very good player, but between his whole scandal leading to being the butt end of every joke and the fact that he wasn’t on teams he could excel in meant that he ended up being quite overlooked.

He played the last year at OKC as a PF after JDub became the 2nd offensive option. A lot of people assumed the drop in numbers was because he was getting worse when he was being played out of position.
