[Injury] Landry Shamet runs directly to locker room after hurting right shoulder he separated last year
That’s dislocated
Shamet got called for the foul too
Dirty screen
his teammates should be shouting/warning him where the screen or if a screen is coming. Why is Robinson is nowhere near Carter in this play?
Not wrong that they should have warned him. Robinson was probably playing drop coverage as wcj is not a threat 40 feet from the rim
Explain what part of this screen is not standard?
Idk maybe dropping the shoulder and throwing his body into shamet? Idk are we playing football here or basketball?
This is it right here. He made sure to hit him with that, intentional or not.
The part where he leaned. If he stood straight up, Shamet would have seen him, but he hid in his blind spot and leaned into to hit him. Dirty as fuck.
Dude its called bracing yourself its a reflex when you see someone is going to run into you.
There’s bracing and then there’s whatever that was. There’s no way moving your shoulder into the player is a defensible move here
To me it’s the combo of leaning into him and then flopping back to sell the foul
It’s “smart basketball” but that doesn’t mean I have to respect it
“Hid in his blind spot” is peak Reddit nonsense. It’s not his fault Shamet took multiple full steps without glancing the direction he was moving.
He feet can’t be set wider than his shoulders. It’s an illegal screen but they barely ever call that. I don’t think I’d call it dirty though
I’m not an nba ref, but it looked to me wcj moved his feet, angled his shoulder into Landry, and i couldn’t see from the camera angle, but he might have chicken winged him as well.
No such thing if it’s legal.
He throws his entire body into shamet, that’s actually not legal
What clip are you watching? “throws his entire body into shamet” is a massive over exaggeration.
There is some fucking wild results-based bitchassery in this thread…
Standard basketball play where someone gets injured = dirty basketball play.
Anyone upset over this screen might as well hold up a little wooden sign that says “I have never actually watched an NBA game”.
Yall embarrassing yourselves
You dropped this: 🎀
His feet are set but he’s visibly moving his shoulder into Shamet. That used to be illegal. /shrug The NBA seems to allow a lot more moving screens these days.
Soft
This is the least moving screen I’ve seen in years lol.
Looks like the same impact angle that dislocated mine, anterior dislocation resulting in a hill sachs lesion, until I get surgery it’s permanent instability overhead and moderate to high chance of dislocating it again
So that’s it for the season?
It depends. Separations/dislocations are weird. Some people are just prone to them and it can dislocate and then pop right back in. It hurts like hell but doesn’t necessarily mean there is any ligament damage. However, they can also come with ligament damage that needs surgery. It’s just dependent on the person and how their body is composed.
I’m not a doctor.
Yup. If he’s dislocated it before it’s more likely to happen again. Depends on how far, severity of mechanism etc
Separations are different than dislocations. Dislocation is when the arm comes out of the socket. Sometimes other injuries come along with that like a torn labrum
Separation (AC separation) is when you tear the ligaments that connect the shoulder blade to the collar bone. It happens a lot to skiers and bikers. I know this because I had a grade 3 ac separation which means I fully ruptured all those ligaments.
I was advised not to get the surgery to repair it. I think I can still shoot a basketball the same but sometimes throwing a baseball really hard feels weird.
Yeah, I know they are different. I may have just phrased it poorly but I was just meaning those type of injuries are so person specific that it’s hard to tell without imaging.
I was playing pickup one time and a guy went for a steal on someone driving from the 3pt line and the guy who reached on defense ended up completely dislocating his shoulder and was just screaming in pain on the ground. He was telling us that it happens with him sometimes and was begging us to pop it back in. One of the guys ended up calling a nurse and they walked him through it and once it popped back in, the guy was like mostly back to normal. It was like night and day. He was done for the night obviously though.
I mean even with the lesion and two tears in my labrum I was back to work on “light duty” after a weekend
it could bea couple months. for a normal person it’s years but you’re not getting paid millions to do pt exercises every day and have round the clock doctors monitoring you
We’ll see him in March
it depends. if they hire Nico Harrison, he’s good to go next game
can he shamet back in?
Yeah it’s actually way harder to separate your shoulder again after it’s been surgically repaired. They trim down your collarbone so the impact area is tiny. This is most likely dislocated
Dude is always on the verge of putting some good minutes together just before getting injured. Poor guy
Fucking killed us.
On the bright side he’s rich af. I’ve always liked him as a player though so I hope it’s nothing serious
Same. Clippers legend lol
I specifically remember the game he cooked the warriors in the playoffs in 2019
I was quite sad when he left Philly.
i agree hes rich but man could of earned way more then just 33 million hes gotten trapped in the only worth min space
I fucking hate playing the magic, dude
It’s basically prison ball with them
Pistons fan here we don’t agree on a lot but fuck cole Anthony and the rest of em Ivey missed a year for their bullshit
Suggs nearly did that to someone in the Hawks game the other night. Just threw his entire body at the ball and it was only the Hawks guy thankfully lifting his leg that didn’t result in it getting folded.
Hawks fans hate them too because they injured people last year also.
Come has t been this way since joining the Bucks, but I agree, that shit last year was fucked.
When was the last time a Knicks player got hurt that wasn’t against the Magic or Heat
Embiid
Mitch rob by embiid
Sixers 100%
Damn I had no idea fans of most Eastern conference teams felt the same way. Someone always gets injured playing that team.
Just ask a Celtics fan about their first round match up last season. That’s where Tatums wrist injury derived from
Don’t let their fans see this, they’ll call you soft and a conspiracy theorist for pointing out how many players get hurt playing against them
It’s fine I wasn’t planning on having a good weekend anyway
As soon as Thibs goes, so does all our injury protection
…Ironically enough.
We were historically healthy with Thibs aside from 2 seasons ago when the Heat and sixers kept injuring us. Goes against the narrative though so people don’t want to hear it
Injury bug catches everyone at some point
2 seasons ago was crazy. It’s like the basketball gods to a player in exchange for Knicks making it a few more games and series into the playoffs, til it was almost all bench vs the Pacers.
But yeah things turned around, idk if it was after Dallas/Nico got rid of that one medical staffer to the Knicks that y’all killed it last playoffs.
They werent out there trying to injure you. Just playoff basketball either a bit of contact.
Hopefully neither was he.
Fuck man, right when he starts hitting his stride.
Magic injure players… been that way for a while
Landry injured Landry.
Magic being the magic
Lol he just ran into a screen you big sook
Seriously, with the way the NBA officiates screens, that’s not even close to being illegal. I don’t understand this comments section lol
These people would call Carter’s dunk on Weis a flagrant foul on Carter if they saw it today
He definitely throws/leads with his shoulder into Landry right before contact
He leans closer to Suggs to close the gap on the screen and braces because he is about to be hit. Hes not really throwing himself forward into it.
This is not even dirty, just a hard screen that shamet should’ve saw when he turned his head.
Probably the same guy complaining about how soft basketball has gotten in the last two decades.
I’ve done this before - popping it back in took multiple towels and several men to hold me down while I screamed bloody murder. That sentence sounded bad.
How was the recovery? Was it the second time you dislocated
Recovery honestly wasn’t bad besides lingering effects.. I was a pitcher and so it ended that dream. I’ve never done it again but have felt it get close a few times
So just the catcher now? See your previous comment. I’m sorry
Bwhahahahaha. Thats fucked up. Lol
My shoulder popped out like 10 years ago. I still feel it threatening to go sometimes when I put dishes on the top shelf.
…towels?
You seen the AD Kentucky locker room video? Kind of like that
Biting one and another was under my arm pit rolled up when they finished, not sure why exactly
what were the towels for
Biting one and one was under my arm pit if I recall, not sure why
Part of the method for relocation. The towel provides countertraction.
There is an alternative where u can put your foot in the persons armpit for countertraction but it feels abit less refined to me haha.
Relocation
Person holding arm provides traction, towel provides countertraction
Prob to bite down on (?)
Shoulder checks should be illegal screens.
Pretty sure it’s supposed to be
Pain tolerance must be off the charts.
For real dude my shoulder does this from time to time and I can’t move until it rolls back in by itself. I would be screaming at the aid not to touch it 😭
It has happened to me multiple times but the worst was when it popped out while I was sleeping on my stomach.
I was in agony trying to stand up to pop it in for what seemed like 4 hours while in reality it was 8 minutes.
It’s not typically all that painful, but just super uncomfortable and you feel very vulnerable. Done this many times, it hurts but is more just traumatic and weird.
I agree. It’s a strange feeling and you don’t want to look at it…..but the pain is not bad.
The surgery/recovery/physical therapy to fix it on the other hand……it’s absolute misery.
Have you gotten surgery for this? I’ve separated both shoulders so they constantly pop out, even with strength training :~| been thinking about surgery but not sure yet!
Yes. Arthroscopic labrum repair after a dislocation. It was about 7 days in a bed at home half propped up and unbelievably uncomfortable, with spells of awful pain and limited sleep, then 4ish weeks in a sling, still hard to sleep or be comfortable anywhere. Then a few months of PT working back to full mobility. Still don’t have full strength 5-6 months later, but getting there.
I went to rent-a-center and rented a comfortable recliner that I could sleep in post surgery. That was the best investment I made for recovery.
Screw you for not telling me that before I went in.
I have PTSD from having 5 pillows propped up and then slipping down on them and having to re-adjust while trying not to move my shoulder or arm at all, only for the new position to be worse than before.
Might not be worth the time and money, but rock climbing really helped strengthen my shoulder after I popped it out.
Had surgery on both shoulders because of dislocations, although I get soreness and stiffness sometimes, it’s been great. It’s been about 2 years since I got the surgeries and it’s been life changing. Don’t really think about the dislocations anymore because of it.
lol. As a 4 time dislocator, hard disagree. Shit hurts like a shooting pain at any sudden movement
Completely different for everyone. I’ve seen people who don’t have high pain tolerances say it doesn’t hurt hardly, while other times people are screaming
Adrenalin is magical.
Dirty from WCJ driving his shoulder
This sub is weird because every day y’all moan about the league being soft and this hefty legal screen got y’all in a funk
https://i.imgur.com/P9FyPA5.png Shamet played that so badly. No idea what’s going through his head right here, who the hell speeds into a screen like that?
Lol people pissed off about a “dirty play” for the screen. Like cmon it’s a screen.
Yeah, it wasn’t dirty. There are a handful of similar screens set in every single NBA game. Definitely an offensive foul (which wss called here I believe), but not dirty.
It wasn’t called an offensive foul, it was a foul on Landry. But yes, worst case it’s an offensive foul, but a fairly common variety that happens a handful of times in every game. It’s unfortunate he didn’t see it and his shoulder was already prone to separation. I hope he recovers quickly.
Knicks gotta have the biggest mob in the league because they be calling everything dirty, then you got guys like “yep that checks out” and it’s a normal play
Third of the league is dirty according to them when thye lose a game
You can see Carter clearly throw his right shoulder into Shamet at the end. Dirty af
Hate to see it but this wasn’t a dirty play.
You’re gonna get screened if you pick up the ball 3⁄4 court. If your teammates are not calling out screens and your head is not on a swivel, then someone is gonna get hurt unfortunately.
This thread is so funny lmao it’s a fucking screen. If you can’t handle that you are better off watching a non-contact sport
Exactly
They’re all such pansies. It’s pathetic.
Like basketball is one of the hardest sports out there haha
It’s literally bottom of the barrel in contact sports and you’ve still got dudes in here complaining about the softest shit
That shit must have felt like such a shocker THIS is why it’s so important to call screens for your teammates when you can
literally leaned his shoulder into him why do the magic do this man
Magic took out 2 of our players for weeks within one minute of game time last season. Including literally breaking Vit’s back on a dirty play.
Lost Ivey for a year
Guess we have our differences in the east but we can all agree- fuck the Magic
That sucks to see, he just played out of his mind against us a few days ago
What the hell was that move by the magic?
The league lets the magic and rockets play like this with minimal consequences so it’s par for the course
Like what? I swear this sub is full of a bunch of dudes who never played competitively in their lives.
That is absolutely true haha
It’s a bunch of soft gen z fans lol
Maybe. But it just seems like a bunch of people who have never played competitive basketball in their lives. Basketball is a physical sport. People will get hurt sometimes. It doesn’t make anybody dirty.
These guys are going to hate when Moe Wagner comes back.
I never played basketball competitively, but did football so my idea on contact is a bit…well…different. (i was a SS and RB).
?????? we aint the ones setting illegal screens tf?
To be fair yall traded Brooks so maybe it’s different this season but him and amen just reach in a lot. Which isn’t dirty but the refs literally can’t call every reach so it’s to their benefit. But again that’s more of a last season thing
you cannot be serious you can’t call a reach in the same as illegal screen that just dislocated Landry Shamet’s shoulder, Dillon is one of the best defenders in the league, he knows the limit and knows how far he can reach in
Exactly. Stevo is the only one on this team who even sets screens and he don’t need to throw a shoulder to lay you out.
It was a screen
Knicks fans soft in here damn
That was not a dirty play. Lots of soft & clearly biased NBA fans in here.
He didn’t lean into him and dip his shoulder maliciously. He stood still and tried closing the gap on a normal screen. Watch it back however many times you need to. It’s just a screen, the foul was called on Shamet.
Everyone talks about how the league got soft.. what’s bout the fans? A lot of ya’ll acting like babies.
It’s clear he didn’t hurt him intentionally.
Shamsanity run RIP 😢😢😢
there is nothing wrong with that screen. there is everything wrong with Shamets teammates not letting him know its coming. you can’t hang a guy out to dry like that when he’s picking up full.
Eh the screener definitely lifts his foot and steps into it and leans his shoulder too. Not the worst of illegal screens but a bad look when someone gets injured when you put a lil extra sauce on it
Hate to see it
Legal screen.
That looks painful as fuck goddamn
I’m not an athlete, but I’m dealing with a separated shoulder. Shit sucks.
That sucks but calling this dirty is hilarious. Y’all mfers are a joke
ppl piling on Carter for dipping the shoulder like it doesn’t happen on almost every screen and is almost never called
Poor dude. He was one of the few good things going for the Knicks this year.
Until you’ve experienced shoulder injuries you don’t compare them with ankles and knees. They’re far worse and wake you up at night.
Back vs neck is a real debate
Bro why did the trainer grab his arm lmaoo
It’s unironically the best thing to do. The faster you set that shoulder back the better the outcome health wise. So if it is dislocated they need to get it back in before it swells then check for soft tissue damage
There was one that happened in the last 2-ish years where the head coach angles himself to have standing bodies to hide behind and pushes it back in himself
Yea it gets to a point where if it keeps happening as long as you don’t tear anything you just pop it back in and keep it moving
Are people really calling this a dirty play!? wtf
Shoulder dislocation
Oof
Tough
My GOAT 😭
As a guy whose dislocated the same shoulder twice in basketball, I felt that big time.
The Landry Shamet face he has on says it all.
If Shamet didn’t get injured on that play, people would be gassing the screen…
He needs to Mel Gibson that in the locker room he’ll be right back.
Knicks fans calling this dirty when Brunson pushes people off every time he has the vall is hilarious
On a cheap shot where he somehow got called for the foul. Wonderful insult to injury
dammit not again…
Kolek time
Its all those Thibs minutes.
Shamet face goes extra hard when he hurts his shoulder!
It’s a shame he got injured has Shamet always looked like Count Olaf?
HOF Brickwall
Brother I have horrible shoulders everytime I fight my right shoulder goes completely out like this. It fucking sucks lmao 🤣
That looks exactly like the way Randle ran off after he dislocated his shoulder
They called this a foul on shamet lmfao
Man I know that fucking feeling Hate it. Get well soon
Why are 2 magic players on the ground? Then they wonder why people call the league soft or unwatchable.
I see it!!!
This exact thing happened to me.
Best case scenario is just dislocated, worst case scenario torn ligaments and rotator cuff.
Speedy recovery nonetheless.
Shades of Landry Fields
God shamet
Kevin Love flashbacks
Fuck Kelly Olynyk
Oh your shoulder’s hurt? Let me pull on it all the way back to the locker room
Dammit Shamet
Feet are supposed to be set shoulder width.
Landry Damnit!
When ya know ya know !
I miss Coach Thibodeau. CB has this 2025-26 Knicks players playing poor defensively and he is not playing the right combination of bench offense unit. CT would play the core 4 together most of the time.
Orlando being dirty what a fuckin surprise
dirty ass magic
Moving screen.
I mean…. He should’ve seen him standing there as soon as he started moving towards him. Looks like he tried to bullrush him
