The Sacramento Kings have started the season 3-12, their worst start in over 35 years.
For a franchise that has mostly known losing since moving to Sacramento in the 1980s, this is their worst start since the 1990-91 season when they started 2-13.
That’s saying something
Tooo beee fairrr… the Kings so far has had the toughest schedule out of any team. So far we’re at a .592 SOS and that’s mostly because we’re playing multiple games against the Thunder, Nuggets, and Wolves. And unfortunately we’re doing that without Keegan Murray, who is 1 of 2 guys who plays good defense on this squad.
And you know the funniest part? After losing to OKC tonight, we will play the Nuggets again in a few days. And then we gotta play the Wolves again after that. We’re getting combo’d by the schedule makers.
7 of our losses have been to OKC/Nuggets/Wolves. We have only played against 1 team that’s below .500, and we beat them at least.
Scary part is after this stretch, our schedule becomes a lot easier, hopefully these morons don’t stumble on a win streak.
hilarious part is that you will blow it up during the easiest stretch and so you’ll stay losing
Tl;dr kings suck
Booo, that was a pretty reasonable explanation. Just for that:
monkey paw curls
LeBron loses all his basketball abilities and never scores more 9 points for the rest of his career
Sorry, LeBron James ^Jr, you’ll have a mediocre career.
A mediocre career would be a success for Bronny lol
Having a career at all once his dad retires would be a massive success
well played 🤣🤣
Indeed, the Kings have the easiest remaining strength of schedule in the league right now.
Stop it… the warriors have had the toughest schedule and its not close, warriors have only played 5 home games, have played the most road games, have had the most b2bs and are the second oldest team in the league. Dont cope that hard
He was talking about the teams they faced not the ampunt of back to backs or road games tho.
You can have a hard schedule because you play a lot of games in a short amount of time or you can have a hard schedule because youre playing the best teams all the time.
Any non playoff contender wouldve probably lost as much as the Kings did looking at who they played.
just fuckin blow it up god damn
for once just suck for like 3 season and draft high
December 15th is when contracts signed this offseason become tradable. We’ll see some action then, surely.
They tried trading Demar and Monk. Just no real value on the roster outside of Sabonis and Ellis
I sincerely doubt Sabonis has notable value beyond filler and maybe a bad first rounder.
A center who can’t block?
Who is a zero as a rim deterrent?
Who can’t really space the floor (He’s on very low volume in the few above average seasons he’s had)?
Who we’ve seen fail to elevate their team time and time again despite otherwise impressive counting stats?
And they’re making over 40 million AAV?
Just no real value on the roster outside of Sabonis and Ellis
What about Murray? I’d take him on my team.
True. I didn’t really count him since they just extended him. Probably the only player who they wouldn’t trade.
That wouldn’t help either, this is the team that drafted Marvin bagley
That’s genuinely impressive in the worst way possible. Kings really said hold my beer to their own history of bad seasons.
They have their own pick. Tear it down and rebuild. Scott Perry is a capable GM, it’s time to let him do his thing
The pieces are an aging scorer who’s never done anything in the playoffs, an aged scorer with a terrible playoff resume, and a center with bad defense who’s never done anything in the playoffs.
You won’t get any value from that. Schroder genuinely might be the 3rd most valuable player on the team.
Still makes sense to unload at least one of those for something before the deadline. Ideally sabonis for something expiring.Â
Get rid of everybody old and see what the young guys have.
If only. Sadly at least half of the guys that are old have little to negative value, so moving any of them will be difficult let alone all of them.
If we could somehow jettison Sabonis, DeRozan, LaVine, and Schroder for literally nothing except cap space, I honestly might do it lol
We’re most likely keeping Zach, cause no one wants him or that contract.
Sure if they can.. as a bulls fan, you know it won’t be easy…Â
Russ will make a good tank commanderÂ
Schroder genuinely might be the 3rd most valuable player on the team.
….. what?
Schroder might be the least valuable player on the team lol. Or 2nd only to LaVine because of contract size. He’s playing below replacement level while being paid $15m/yr.
… sorry, did I say that? If any NBA FOs are reading this, what I meant to say is, he’s a heady vet that can do a little bit of everything and a team that needs a PG should definitely trade for him! (Please.)
The “most valuable” players on the team trade-wise are all the guys they shouldn’t be trading. Their rooks, Keegan, and Keon. But aside from those guys, Monk and Sabonis have probably the most trade value of the vets, and I’d also say DeRozan has more than Schroder and LaVine. Especially since DeMar’s contract isn’t fully guaranteed next year so he’s kind of an expiring right now.
Sabonis has value, derozan less so but he’s movable. At this point they probably need to ride it out with lavine and try to move him after he opts in.
The point is that they need to move on from this core and hit the reset.
There are some dumb GMs in this league who you can talk to. With Nico gone I think the next stupidest one is whoever runs the Pels.
Perry is legit but he’s not the one calling the shots unfortunately. The last 12ish years there’s been one constant decision maker and he needs to sell
If reports were to be believed, Scott has full reigns to do what he has to. The issue is, will Vivek let him see it all the way?
I doubt it. I have a theory the beam team season was built by Monte and he got ALL the credit for finally ending the drought, along with Mike brown and someone up top did not like that. We proceed to run it back but go HARD after Sasha even though brown does not want what he brings to the court because he’s slow and cant keep up on defense. Everything goes sideways and the exec and coach of the year eventually dont have their jobs anymore and we’ve went back to the shenanigans we all know. Just my tin foil hat brain but if you look at all the moves of the vivek era it isnt thaaaaat crazy to think after him continuously blundering away seasons with 4 on 5 and jazzy basketball lol
Tear what down? It is torn down.Â
Two Words: Vivek Ranadivé
The Kings having picks doesn’t mean anything. They’d just keep drafting Marvin Bagley instead of Luka over and over.
The Kings have been in Sacramento for 40 seasons. We’ve only finished above .500 10 times.
I’m still happy we get the privilege of watching bad basketball in Sacramento! Glad they’re not in Anaheim, Vegas, Virginia Beach, or Seattle.
As fans this is crazy. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a full on revolt from Sac supportersÂ
This is why Vivek knows he can run a shit franchise and we’ll still show up to games. I don’t think any owner can do this in any other city.
Why are you trying to speak a Virginia Beach franchise into existence lmao
surprised it’s been that many times tbh, would have guessed less
tbf their schedule has been brutal
yea. for scale, we play the thunder, nuggets and wolves 9 times in our first 18 games. half of them. we have such a front loaded schedule.
Feels like they are playing you guys every other week
It’s a rough schedule for sure but 3-12 is not a good look no matter what.
7 double digit losses in a row (and counting.)
Blow it up, this team is never winning anything in my lifetime.
They collected a group of losers. The 2023 Chicago bulls but older
Impressive considering this team had both halliburton and fox
They could’ve drafted Curry and Luka. Instead they ended up with Evans and Bagley
The Chicago Bulls minus a point guard
I remember how good the Kings were from about 2000-2004. Just couldn’t get over the hump. Tbf though that hump was the Shaq and Kobe Lakers and the KG Timberwolves.
dont forget about tim
And the refs
I assumed he meant Tim Donaghy
That’s still ongoing.
I love you for acknowledging this lol
Damn that’s wild I’m so glad my team isn’t underperforming
In our defense, There is no defense.
Don’t think the beams ever gonna be lit again at this rate.
The beam will be lit again if they land the first pick
Honestly, probably a good thing considering they own their pick
They saw the Bulls and said this would be better with Sabonis
Their worst so far
are the other 8 or so bottom teams in similar positions? cuz the bottom of the standings is as ugly as I can remember
Honestly, good for them. This is the draft for it
hopefully both of our teams are in the top 3
Dat boy westbrook is nice.
New billionaire owners as they rake in the nba revenue share
Gotta love this new era.Â
someone out there saw the Derozan, Lavine Bulls and decided Sac should copy that
Help
Light the beam
Worst ownership in all of sports
Let Russ be Russ
Nice to have a rest game when you play themÂ
lol definitely feels like there have been worse ones in the past
Just when I thought there was parity within the league
I think Zach Lowe said on the last pod that this was organic tanking
Free range, cage free, non-GMO tanking.
Riding the tank til it all burns to the ground babyyyyyy
Only the Kings could follow up a playoff breakthrough by speed-running a 1990s throwback season. Painful start, but man… this fanbase deserves better.
I didn’t think we could get worse…
I tell people I’ve been a kings fan for as long as I’ve been alive to let them know I’m loyalÂ
Terrible badly run team. Sry Kangs fans
Who cares? Westbrook is playing. That’s all that matters.
No one is surprised. DeRozan and LaVine are great if the goal is the play-in every year. That’s their ceiling.
This sub has them as a meme, but not as bad as their record shows. Their schedule has been vicious.
Granted I’ve only seen them the 3 times OKC played them, but I didn’t walk away feeling they were hopeless despite the scores.
As a kings fan I’m weird we about to win like 4 of the next 6 bc of KeeganÂ
Sabonis averaging 0 blocks a game
These are the Kings I remember!
Hell yeah, let’s tank babyyyy
Dougie aint makin’ it to Turkey Day.
Nah he’s fine. He’s cheap and only signed to a 2 yr deal. He is the tank commander.
We big bro’d them into mediocrity after that game 7 Steph 50 point performance lol
Meanwhile Bulls are killing. The Demar / Lavine effect lmao.
Mike Brown was the problem lol
You catch those games prior to him being fired? His second half adjustments/lack of calling of timeouts when teams would go on 15+ point runs were miserable…
The roster was bad, he got everything he could out of them the prior season. If only Monte did something, besides just get DeRozan.
The mavericks shooting themselves in the face distracted from the kings amputating their legs
