It’s crazy that this team had one of the all-time worst seasons just 2 years ago. They immediately turned things around with a playoff appearance last year and are now off to a very hot start this year even with several starters missing multiple games. It’s not even like they signed some superstar to turn things around. Their top 3 scorers in ppg so far were all on that 2023 squad (Cunningham, Duren, and Thompson). They just let their young guys develop and picked up some great complimentary players to fill out the roster. Truly an incredible franchise turnaround.

Yeah honestly we knew what we were getting into this year then it just spiraled into insane injury luck to the point where I guess we are ethically tanking? To be frank, the length of injury is irrelevant to any individual game. It affects the season, yes, but each individual game it is no different than a minor injury keeping him out. Hali could’ve been out with a twisted ankle and he wouldn’t have been in the game.

If I were talking about our records and our future this season, that’s a valid point. But looking at a single game, that’s not really relevant. We were missing 6 guys, with our star being one of them as well. It’s a lame excuse in terms of this single game, and only works if you’re talking about a stretch of games.

Havent paid attention to the pacers at all but its really weird seeing them go from finals to a lottery team. You’d consider the other players would be able to get at least a sub 0.500 or 0.400 record even with injuries.

They are leading the league in total games missed due to injury.

TJ McConnell missed the first month.
Benedict Mathurin got hurt in the second game of the season and has played a total of three games.
Andrew Nembhard injured his shoulder in the second or third game and has only played in seven games so far.
Obi Toppin got injured in the third game and is out until probably the All-Star break at the earliest.
Aaron Nesmith injured his groin and is out for at least a month.

Those are all major rotation guys from last year’s Finals run.

Johnny Furphy injured his ankle early and has only appeared in three games.
Other players who you have maybe never heard of have also been injured.
We also basically have no centers.
