OKC has the best perimeter defense in the league. Only thing that is better is the Celtics championship team a couple years ago. After this there is such a big drop off.

Nuggets is one team that can beat them because they don’t rely on the 3 pt game. They have Aaron Gordon and jokic that forces help and bullies chet. Rockets do well against them too bc of sengun and kd. Same idea. If rockets had one consistent 3 pt shooting guard they could exploit the help defense that shifts on sengun and kd frequently.

The warriors and Lakers getting destroyed isnt surprising. They are built around their perimeter.

I mean really consistency matters. And the 3 ball has big variance, and that ultimately cost them last year and they won’t be competing again for a while. Defense has the lowest variance. As long as it’s enough to win, no need to win by 40. Which, if we’re going by net rating, OKC leads by good margin

Celtics didnt went to game 6 in the chip season and that was with KP injured for most of the playoffs, you guys went to 2 game 7s and who knows if you win it if Hali doesnt get injured.

Last years Celtics team wasnt as good as the year before even ignoring the variance of the 3 ball.

When it hit the postseason they all kinda had the yips. Look at their age. Relatively, these guys were babies and had to get over a lot of nerves.

But turned out JDub played the whole thing with a torn ligament in his shooting hand, and KP is good but Dub was an all NBA & all defensive team player.

Should be a good season though… although from reading the Lakers fans comments, maybe they won’t enjoy it so much.

Oh yeah im not knocking you guys, it was pretty impressive you guys won last year considering the age of your roster, thought your first chip will be this year once Chet makes a leap.

Kinda hoping very much that Clippers make the playoffs because it would make league super boring for the next 4-5 years if you guys get a top 8 pick(assuming it hits obviously). Having great teams in the league is fun, having KD warriors level teams is just not fun.

I just try to be pretty objective and get downvoted in the Lakers sub because i suggest that SGA is better than Luka at this point just due to the fact i know he will give a shit in (almost) every game while you have to flip a coin if Luka will be fine on defense that night or he will just stand there like a cone.

Said in the Hawks game that a real contending team dont just come out with 0 effort and now its been 3 games where they played 1 half decent quarter of basketball all together everything else was just them not giving a single fuck.

OKC with your defense is just a really bad game to come out sloppy and not being at you 100%. Expected a loss even if they gave a shit, not giving a shit just turns 10-15 point loss to being down 30 in 3rd quarter.

But yeah its also funny reading Lakers sub sometimes :D

Luka is incredible, a very passionate guy. That being said when it’s a bad environment, he seems to get depressed and then it shows in his play. SGA might be that way except he had to live through tanking years and now we’ve created an excellent environment around him. With the addition of Caruso, the entire theme of the team changed and he’s sort of like a defensive coach in the floor.

Lakers sub… it was like a guilty pleasure as I laughed watching people melt down. Like man I like ball, but I would never let myself get to the point where I was down that bad lol

If Luka was on our team, I don’t think he’s depressed. I think he’s playing inspired ball. But he’s not, so that’s very unfortunate. I think he shot himself in the foot signing back with the Lakers, but that’s just me.

I didn’t like the KD warriors because it felt like they took on a mercenary to make it imbalanced. It’s like if Jokic came to our team. Weak.

But when everyone important has been drafted and raised up there, or played with them for a number of years, it’s a different feel. It contributes to our team chemistry a ton. And the young guys want to live that life with the boys, so guys like Ajay Mitchell take team friendly contracts.

Like I would rather compete and get some possible rings, while being in one of the top development organizations in the league, the other being Miami. The next contract will be a big one, and then he can chase the big bag with some good accomplishments and memories if he doesn’t stay with us.

Yeah kinda agree with you on the Luka points and how it differs to SGA and the culture OKC created around him.

I knew he will sign with the Lakers because thats just who he is, but its going to be very very very hard to put a team in the next few years that can compete with OKC,Nuggets and even the Spurs unless they get lucky (always a chance, they are the Lakers).

Sadly he got fucked by the Mavs where it took them 5 years to build a great team around him and then they traded him and now hes back at start with Lakers. Also kinda bad for the league because i thought OKC-Mavs will be great rivalry for years to come.

I didnt mean to suggest, that KD being a mercenary compares to your team, because yes your team was just a brilliant long term plan from the best GM in the league and with awesome player development .

What i meant was for a somewhat neutral fan like myself , (maybe in time i can be Mavs fan again - i was mavs fan before Luka cause of Dirk) its boring going in the season knowing that there is just no way anybody is beating X team unless they get injured and while i think you are the heavy favorites to get to the finals and win again this year, i wouldnt be totally shocked if the Nuggets beat you.

If you get a top pick in next draft while also having 27 Clippers and 28 Mavs picks it will just be very hard for anybody to build a team that can even compete let alone beat you in near future considering that your players are so young already and improving . (Assuming health obviously)

But even if I was a neutral, this is my kind of storyline. Most of our guys were counted out, waived, Undrafted or a late 2nd round pick. I think we have 3 guys that were even 1st round picks. Nvm, Dieng, but I hope he’s gone really soon.

Anyway, these guys bond and you can tell truly love each other. And they all had something to prove, not overflowing with talent but learning skills and grinding to get better.

I’ve never seen a team that liked each other so much, nor a team with so many underdogs.

To be fair, unless Presti is in love with someone, there’s a good chance we’ll get a solid pick and then trade it to kick it down the line. If we have a top 5 pick, how many future 1sts is that worth? We can only develop so many people, honestly.
