[Highlight] Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ends the 3rd quarter with a behind-the-back dime to Isaiah Joe for three. SGA finishes the 3rd quarter with 30/5/9 on 68% TS
People really made up fake narratives about him because he foul grifts lmao he’s just that guy sorry to say
That mvp back to back will cause so much fuming
It’s easier to hate then to appreciate
I’m not gonna lie I was mad salty after he hosed us in 5 in the conference finals lmaoooo
Mad respect for yall though. Some of the best opposing fans that knew how to have good banter without going full stupid.
Wolves fans were the most fun to deal with
I would have said Nuggets were the worst, but Pacers backed up by their Avengers (28 other teams worth of fans) were hell
Pacers were an unusual case though. That incredible underdog playoff run meant every neutral was on their side (except for knicks fans) but yeah r/nba was not a fun place to be 😂
Bucks fans hate them even more than Knicks fans lol
Yeah, man, I’d just go to the Bucks sub and be like, “Pacers fans are worse than Cholera” and get 100 upvotes. It felt nice in those dark times.
Cavs fans ain’t like em much either. They went from talking about sweeping the Pacers to then coping horrendously. Was very funny to observe.
Facts it was us vs everyone
We had the Knicks and Bucks too lmao. But other than that…
Raptors bros always got us too
That finals was always gonna be a win win for Canadians
Either Siakam gets a 2nd ring or Shai stamps himself as the GOAT Canadian player
(which obv he did & I’m grateful to say I’m witnessing the greatest to ever come from my country while he’s just hit his prime)
That pacers squad was backed by buzzer beaters, overrated allegations and voodoo memes. It’s hard not to cheer for when the other side was expected to win (not discounting the Thunder here).
Wolves series was easily the least toxic fanbase we faced during the playoffs lol.
Is it really?
I find that so hard to believe.
People who bitch about Shai NEVER watched D wade or Kobe and it shows
Been saying this since he started dropping 30 a night every night, if they played in the modern NBA this sub would HATE them so much lmfaoo. But for some reason they get a pass while he doesn’t. I think it’s all the Jokic fans that do this predominantly.
In fairness, both of those guys notoriously got hate for grifting as well
They did but social media is drastically bigger than it was in the 2000’s and early 2010’s
No question about that
Not like this. I think them being on big market teams saved them a little. They had more defenders than the entire population of Oklahoma
Oh they definitely had their Stans, no arguments there.
But I remember getting into a ton of arguments with those Stans back in the day over calling Kobe an inefficient chucker and overrated defender. And for calling dwade a shameless grifter.
Yeah, for sure. Same. I just felt like the number of stans or fans of those teams made it better for them compared to SGA
Things got HEATED (no pun intended) when Wade won the ‘06 NBA finals with a parade of free throws
The original 9⁄11 for Mavs fans.
[deleted]
Dog they got beat by 73 by the grizzlies
Losing a regular season game, compared to losing your first ever Finals appearance is a pretty big gap in tribulations.
Plus I think only Dort was part of that squad. So not really an experience for the current core.
You should stop thinking and start checking. Shai, Wiggins, Kenrich all on the team
I checked before I commented, none of them played but Dort. What else am I supposed to check?
Or was there another game where they got smacked by the Grizz, that I forgot about.
they lost as the 1 seed to the mavs the literal year before with the same squad minus caruso/ihart
Lol right? People have a short memory
No one has a short memory, these are not the trials and tribulations people are expecting young contenders to have.
I even mentioned the Mavs series.
If losing a playoff series as the 1 seed with an MVP contender doesn’t suffice… then what?
Losing 1 playoff series in the 2nd round is not the trials N tribulations I am referring to and not what enrages haters.
I am referring to seasons like the 1990 Bulls, the 2006 Mavs, the 2008 Lakers, the 2011 Heat and more recently, the 2019 Bucks, the 2022 Celtics.
These are all teams that made it deep into a deep run, several of them Finals teams and all failed. Only to come back at a later stage with that same core and win it all. These are the trials that young cores usually have, a great run that ends with immense heartbreak.
OKC never had this. SGA has his 2020 season with CP3, ending with the bubble. Then later lost in a close 2nd round matchup against a similar level team. After this they were all time great Champs.
Curry core just has 2nd round loss to Spurs, 1st round loss to the Clips and then boom they were 65+ win all time great champions. People were super mad about this and that’s why the injury nonsense came up constantly, to disregard Curry’s achievements.
Tbf, the general vibe of that game 7 before Haliban went down was that Indy was going to put them through it. Haliburton was heating up and looked primed for a 30, 40-point night and the Thunder were rattled all of that first half.
okc was up (by 1 i think) when haliburton left the game. OKC wasn’t rattled, it was a back and fourth game
And then they continued to go back and forth for two quarters, until the second half started and OKC put belt to ass after the Pacers offense stalled out. The game had barely started but Haliburton looked ready to go off fo 40.
I’m not telling you OKC didn’t deserve that win, I’m just saying that as a casual observer who had neither investment in either team, it’s pretty obvious losing Haliburton took that game from must-watch TV in the first half to watching LeBron’s 2018 Finals series from Game 2 onwards in the second.
Hali was 3-5… Not really primed for a 30 or 40 banger at all.
Siakam started 3-6, where’s his 30 banger!
Whoever is disregarding Curry’s greatness is a dumbass, and I couldn’t be less interested in their discourse regarding the Thunder
Okay cool, doesn’t stop the fact that this is what people expect teams to go through and where Hate can come from it.
In 2024 playoff they are 1 seed and they are beaten by mj washington right? I think thats their only trial?
Pretty much, they lost a 2nd round series in a close battle!
Most upsetting thing that happened, was that SGA fouled on the last three instead of just letting them shoot it.
It’s just one of those things that makes them so special. They didn’t even need the heartbreaker to sharpen them, they were just pristine.
The other thing is not having any real vets. That’s immensely unique.
They are an unlikable team, they have a lot of games were you go… “that’s not fair”(and that has nothing to do with talent disparity between whoever they are playing)
They’re an immensely likable team of young hungry guys, not sure what is unlikable about them.
you obv haven’t seen the post game interviews with gallo
That is what I love most about the squad, they seem fun!
Honestly the only thing I’ve disliked is Chet’s cringe posts hahaha, but honestly they’re still funny.
Honestly think him/Thunder not going through any real trials or tribulations as a upcoming core, enrages haters more than anything.
Curry got the same. People were seething that the 2015 Warriors didn’t have the usual, failure before success run. Like Lakers, Heat did before they won a title.
OKC got the same. You could see it on threads as they made the Finals, just this inherent expectation that a young team, with a MVP who has only played 1 non-first round series ever couldn’t get it done.
They went from an under .500 team to champion, in the same time the Kings were a playoff team to a non-playoff team. 3 seasons.
Not true people loved them in 15 only the next year did they start getting hate.
It’s gonna be a two man race between him and Jokic again. Considering that you have to think the gap between those 2 and the other top tier guys is of significance
I think Wemy will be in the mix as well
Giannis still exists, and is dragging a lottery roster to a top 4 seed
neither giannis or wemby will win enough games to be seriously considered
A second MVP is gonna add some real spice to the burgeoning “better than Kobe” discussion
i think if we have a mvp race similar as last year and shai wins again. doesnt help him at all. becuase hes an outstanding player but jokic its just better and more valuable to his team
He’s obv good but he also foul grifts to an extreme. It’s not mutually exclusive.
IMO the most annoying thing is that the thunder are allowed to more or less play football on defense but if a light breeze touches SGA they protect him.
I don’t blame SGA, he’s just the head of the snake and he’s playing the cards dealt to him
Ima be real jokic deserves it the most.
ew no more. Shai back to back pls
Jokic or Luka makes that pass and its 5k upvotes. Simple as that
Luka had the most basic dunk two days ago, and it got more likes than our Champions post
Edit: Jokic scoring lay-ups in his massive game will get more likes than this pass
jokic being gifted a horsehead crafted out of his shoes got more than the post announcing SGA won MVP
Don’t forget the dramatic Jokic titles when he does a simple play. Some shit like “Jokic somehow makes the impossible layup through contact!” And it’s a normal ass contested layup
Yea cus no one likes your team, your star, your playstyle, or your fans constant crying about how no one likes you.
OKC fans are the new Warriors fans
“Oh no nobody likes how unlikable we are”
Professional victims
Nobody owes anyone upvotes. Also, people are free to like other players more than other players regardless of their achievements. Maybe Luka and Jokic just more charismatic and simply more interesting public figures.
Nobody is disregarding Shai’s achievements. He’s a legit champion and mvp which he has won fair and square. People just like him less than those other guys.
Nobody is disregarding Shai’s achievements.
I swear some of you straight up in denial about the obvious bullshit that goes on in this sub lmao
This place still upvotes dudes claiming the NBA is rigged in his favor brother, of course people disregard his achievements
What is this obvious bullshit then? People just like him less. Deal with it, your team won a ring. Stop crying about stupid upvotes that nobody owes to anyone.
Can you read? Do you think stuff like “the NBA is rigged” is normal commentary?
You’re just fucking salty this stuff is getting called out in this thread, cry me a river
And yeah the team won a ring, they might do it again, what does that have to do with the way part of the public acts online lol what the fuck are you on about
Called out what? Lol. You’re the one crying about some shitty internet points about your best player.
It means enjoy your team’s championship and stop pathetically complaining about receiving less upvotes about your best player. People like Jokic and Luka more. I am one of those many here who will upvote them even more. Deal with it.
Are you daft? No one gives a fuck about who you like more, that doesn’t mean you have to play blind to the bullshit spammed in this sub. Apparently liking Luka or Jokic means you have to pretend you’re stupid and can’t read how people hate on SGA for absolutely nothing? “o I just prefer both of them and it’s just internet points”, lmao sure buddy, now to look for a hug from some other circlejerker or something
So fucking ridiculous, pretending it’s somehow shocking a team’s fanbase doesn’t like blatant bias against their star player
We like him less than the other guys. You just have to accept that.
Jokic sitting on a bench while drunkenly watching his horse race or Luka playing overwatch will always be more interesting than any SGA layup. It’s called being charismatic and interesting.
My suggestion is accept that and move on. Enjoy your team win some games and don’t give a fuck about sga getting downvoted here because we all have biases and we are free to express that on the internet.
>Jokic sitting on a bench while drunkenly watching his horse race or Luka playing overwatch will always be more interesting than any SGA layup. It’s called being charismatic and interesting.
Cringe shit, I don’t give a fuck if you enjoy whatever fluff you enjoy about Jokic or Luka dude, I find them likeable players too, it still doesn’t explain why you’d play blind to the hate SGA gets and pretend this is just “oh these two are just more charismatic I swear” lmao, that’s just denial. I’ve already brought up the upvoted comments that go crazy about shit like the NBA being rigged in his favor and shit, you just ignored it and pretended this is about how you like Luka and Jokic.
>My suggestion is accept that and move on.
I don’t think you realize you’re the one not accepting shit here bro, people can speak about biases they see, they don’t have to shut down that discussion just because it bothers you for whatever reason
This pass is nothing to them, you just bringing up their name for no fucking reason
Don’t act obtuse. There’s a huge double standard in this sub
Hell no it’s the always the dumb motherfuckers saying “if this person did it, it would have way more upvotes”. If the pass was actually that impressive it’d be there
Luka had the most basic dunk two days ago that made the front page of this sub.
Your argument is dumb on all levels. Is Taylor Swift better than another artist because she has more top songs? No. It’s subjective and star power comes into play. Dull pencil ass
To quote your username, reallymothafucka? You’re being obtuse
Luka and Jokic are making this pass in their fucking sleep you dull pencil
They also get bounced in the second round in their sleep or?
This generations defining player is playing for OKC
Glad you recognize Mitchell’s success
They deserve it
If this guy played for a big market he would have been hailed as the new Jordan a long time ago. But because he plays for OKC he’s just gonna have to make everyone accept that label forcefully
The new jordan?? 😂😂😂 Y’all gotta stop throwing around jordan’s name like that
SGA is doing right now in the most competitive era what Jordan was doing in the plumbing era
You mean OKC. OKC just won a title. OKC is dominating the West. SGA is easily their best player and arguably best in NBA. But this isn’t some all time carry job.
I don’t want anyone saying shit about Jordan winning 6 rings than
Fine by me
No we don’t mean OKC, we mean Shai.
Nobody said or even implied it was a carry job…
This entire post/discussion is specifically about how good SGA is
nah if the thunder B2B in the parity era of the CBA, he’s gotta be in some uncomfortable conversations.
like what conversations exactly?
Best of his generation, best guard since Kobe/Jordan. Those ones.
Wild. He is the best player on a stacked roster, in a parity era caused by CBA rules which make building a stacked roster almost impossible.
Trying to argue this point when Kobe wasn’t even the best player on his stacked roster is wild
He has the same play style. Not as good as MJ on defense, but offensively he isn’t far behind where Jordan was at this age.
not nearly as explosive. more similar to kobe than jordan. also im pretty sure op is talking about accolades/starpower
New Jordan doesn’t mean literally the new Jordan but it means 1 of the best guards of all time
Last year was irrefutably an all time great season for any guard in history.
A scoring title, MVP, championship & finals MVP is up there among the best seasons a guard has ever had.
if he has another season like this (mvp by a huge margin, leading no1 seed to championship) he is in discussion with jordan as the GOAT
Chill dude lmao.
Yeah they might actually be the first team in the 2020s to be back 2 back champs
Hope so
First in 10 years right?
2017 and 2018 Warriors were last to do it. So 8 years. Ridiculous amount of parity.
Shai is an elite playmaker. Anyone who doesn’t think that because he averages 6 assists a game just doesn’t watch basketball. This guy creates advantages for his teammates like its nothing.
You double him and he either splits the defense for a lay, draws a foul, shoots over 2 people, or dishes an assist- simply unguardable
Belt to ass
If Shai hadn’t dared go against this sub’s darling Jokic for the MVP he would be so much more appreciated it’s crazy.
If Shai hadn’t centered his game around drawing fouls he would be so much more appreciated. People hate his flopping and hate the fact that it works.
This sub loves Luka though?
Broadcasters fluffing a washed Smart. Jfc.
They’ve been doing it all year, gassing up his DPOY win as a guard like it isn’t the worst DPOY awardee ever.
I quite like how he’s played so far, but goodness the national broadcasters feel built for a non-NBA audience at a point. So much lying haha.
Not to trash on you, but they are for a non-NBA following audience. Just like the NFL ran with Taylor Swift during big games last year. They were going to gain way more watchers than they would lose. People who are already fans are going to watch, unless you literally have base-boosted Joe Rogan commentating.
Side quests
Mvp
…… that was smooth
The dap to Joe was so crisp you could hear it on the broadcast.
What in the Globetrotters is even going on right now with the Thunder
Like showtime
Sheeeeesh. Imagine if dude actually played 4th quarters. 3rd in a row he’s gotten to sit because the spanking they’ve been putting on teams.
reminds me of when jordan used to sit out the 4th quarters often in a season after giving buckets
He’s now sat 7 4th quarters
2014-2019 Curry Warriors vibes
He’s going to demolish that record he was already only 3 games off of it last year.
Such a pleasure to watch, just effortless. So glad we’ve got an old school offensive Jordan/kobe esque player in the league right now
GG EZ
my daddy
Showtime Thunder
Chuck was sure right when he said the game meant nothing to the Lakers.
30 in 3 quarters again? Blowout win again? Mannnnnn this guy is special lol
This team was so ass a couple years ago, im impressed. Coming from a Laker fan. First legitimate chance a team can repeat this decade
Shai can’t be the MVP since he always sits out 4th quarters.
30 FTs in 3 quarters is impressive
Did they play the 4th or invoke the mercy rule?
Lakers ass
SGA finishes the 3rd quarter with 30/5/9 on 68% TS
Pretty good… for him
Fake mvp
Dudes just nowhere near a leader/team superstar
yeah booker >
I watched two quarters of an NBA game tonight, which I rarely do, and it’s absurd how many three pointers teams are doing…. One game, they attempted a combined 74 three point attempts, which is one every 40 seconds of play. Ugh. But I guess most fans love it.
I like when my team put ball in bucket
What the fuck are you yapping about? Yeah, it’s obvious you don’t watch. If a team makes 14 3s on 37 attempts, that’s average shooting. What, you just want teams wasting two-thirds of a possession just to clear out a side and let their best player take a worse shot that is worth less?
