[Highlight] Devin Booker makes a young fans day after diving out of bounds
Dope ass moment
Can’t hate Booker. Great team player. Seems great off the court.
As a Suns fan, I’d like to personally thank r/nba for objectively evaluating Booker this season
He seems super cool off the court and great with fans, but also I really admire the way he embraced a selfless team role with the USA during the last Olympics. Then he comes back to the Suns and slots right into the superstar spot, playing really well on a relatively “ehhh” team.
No drama with that guy. He just goes out and plays hard.
100%. Death, taxes, and Book averaging 25/4/4 while staying relatively healthy have been our only constants for the past nine years. He’s a little overpaid now, but his game will age gracefully because of his skillset and he could fit around anyone if we ever had to trade him. Hopefully not though, he’s loyal and wants another shot at the finals for the team/city. Good guy
I don’t understand why everybody underrates Booker’s stats so much. 25/4/4 is kind of insulting for a player of his caliber in the modem NBA. He averages 27/4/7.
I mean I’m not trying to pick nits, but he literally averaged 25 ppg last season. I was just trying to establish a statistical floor of statistics that he has met or exceeded every year since he was 20
A lot of folks would kill for an over paid-home grown star player. Especially one that doesn’t get traded to a bigger market team for pennies.
Yeah, i thought he was really good on that USA team, he was playing Derrick Whites role but even better.
And he can make the switch when he wants to.
I have a buddy who is super into old cars but not basketball. A few years ago he tells me that he runs into this guy getting out of this sweet old Impala outside Scottsdale Fashion Square. They talk car stuff for straight up almost 30 minutes before he finds out it’s some Suns player called “Brooker”. Made me chuckle. There are plenty of stories of Booker chatting with fans for a while around town. He definitely likes it here in the basin.
Devin Booker is humility father
He’s also a great help to the local special needs community here - good guy Book
This is specifically why I love him. Anyone who’s an advocate/supporter of the disability community has my fandom.
Ya Books sister has DiGeorge syndrome and he does a lot of work with that community. Video I remember seeing a while back showing his relationship with that community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8xDS0OES94
His contributions to the Special Olympics are just unreal. He’s a great ambassador for them.
I used to hate Booker and his game but the way he took a backseat to the big 3 during the Olympics and embraced being the role player/glue guy made me do a quick 180 on him.
Dude did all the little things that we needed and didn’t complain once about wanting a bigger role.
He’s honestly just… that humble. It goes a long way.
The guy’s had like a billion teammates and coaches in his career. He’s always had to mold himself. CP3, KD, Beal, etc etc. When Ayton was drafted, Book hyped him up and made sure he got his touches. I’m glad he got a big stage to change some minds, but it’s kinda baffling that’s what it took. Never complained and has been willing to take any role they ask him to take. That’s how he’s always been. Also has one of the most aesthetically pleasing playstyles.
Reverse Tatum
The mob is fickle
His role on the Olympics team made me a fan. Especially his off court videos, seems like a chill guy
he did it for himself, with the olympics
Spent a few hours with him in an intimate setting and he couldn’t have been more humble, genuine and cool.
Love to hear that
Steph said Book was the best teammate he’s ever had lol (Olympics)
Cool shoes too
He’s always doin this shit man it’s kinda nuts-
been an ideal franchise player. we lucked out. hopefully we dont waste too much of his prime.
He also seems to have grown from the fiasco with KD and Beal. I made a comment on a Suns facebook post about Book always saying he wanted a superteam and got it and turns out it wasn’t what he thought, so he’s gotta go back to the drawing board. Perhaps it was someone that just handles his account but that comment received a fist-bump emoji from his official account. If that was really him, much respect for owning up to it.
My favorite is him hitting a fist bump with a toddler after hitting a shot
I hate him, but he makes it difficult, especially after Paris.
I’ve always liked Book, even when he was beefing with the Raptor.
He’s always showing love to his young fans, reminds me of the video of him stopping at the lemonade stand
Used to think he had the most punchable face, but ya know what? I’m comin around. Seems like a stand up dude
I really wish he would have dipped on the suns. Then again I only hate the suns because of him. Weird catch 22
Security even tried to shoo away the kid
Then started laughing with the other guards when Book dapped the kid up lol. Vibes are improving in Dallas already
I love Booker. He seems cool as fuck. I really root for him and the Suns to do well bc he truly deserves it. Has gotten way too much disrespect and not enough flowers his whole career.
I’ve never understood the amount of hate he’s gotten over the years. With most of the hate stemming from a few petty incidents that got blown out of proportion.
I STILL see people bringing up the “we’re not doubling in a pick up game” thing in 2025 as a reason to hate him. 🤦🏻♂️ Like damn… move tf on. It’s just an excuse to be a hater at this point. I’m sure Devin never imagined people would still be hating on him over half a decade later over the fact that he didn’t feel like spending all day passing out of double teams in a pickup game. Not like he hasn’t been one of the most double teamed players in the NBA for the majority of his career. I didn’t really blame him at the time for not wanting to spend all game doing the same shit in a meaningless open gym game.😂
Besides, he’s matured a lot since then and doesn’t get caught up in his frustrations or other emotions on the court as much as he used to.
Lucky he is not O’Neal.
Agreed, Book really is a humble guy. Man of the people. Loves what he does and his fans
Is Booker THE Phoenix Sun?
It’s Barkley and Nash in the conversation right? Both of whom left for another team at the end of their careers?
Booker is absolutely THE phx sun
Nash better
That wasn’t the question. Kawhi is a better player than Lowry, but Lowry is still THE Raptor.
I’m sorry but Vince Carter is THE raptor
Boi have you lost your mind cause i’ll help ya find it Lowry is the GROAT
Yeah Vince never did anything negative towards the raptors lol
He most definitely is not
This whole thread is Morris Peterson erasure smdh
We don’t love him as much as people think
Yes but when we look down to the fine details, Nash retired in gold and purple. Love Nash but Booker embraces the valley at the same level as Kenny Dillingham
Right, but we haven’t gotten to the last couple years of bookers career. He could very much end up somewhere else (and I say this as a suns fan who doesn’t want him to)
If Book retires a Sun, even without winning a chip, he’ll probably go down as their GOAT. Something about superstars only suiting up for one team that carries a ton of weight in sports.
It’s all generational though. If you asked fans that grew up watching Nash, I’m pretty sure many of them would say he’s the greatest Sun of all time and I wouldn’t argue against it.
I’m old. It’s Alvan Adams.
Jk it’s Booker.
Grew up watching Nash while booker will never win a mvp let alone 2 booker is the greatest sun of all time just considering the situations he has been in and stuck with the team through it all means more that is if he retires here
We still got like 4-5 years before we get to a similar point that Nash was at. Dudes back was failing him and his teammates his final season as a Sun were Shannon Brown, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley, Gortat, whatever was left of Grant Hill, Kieff, the other Lopez twin, Hakim “Dollar General STAT” Warrick, and the room temp remains of Micheal Redd.
Nash was all about winning a title and I don’t fault him a single bit for leaving that trash can to join forces with Kobe, Pau, Dwight Howard, and World Peace. Especially when he got zero commitment from Sarver about improving the team.
Every single soul on this sub would have done the same.
No. Fuck the Lakers.
No. It’s fuck the Spurs.
I still think it’s Nash by a hair but by the end Booker will have passed him.
In the grand scheme of things, Barkley was here for a cup of coffee. Nash and Booker also were around for much longer
I can’t hate on Nash for trying to get a ring at the tail end there. Left all of it and then some blood on top of it for us. I will cry if Booker does the same thing in like 5-6 years but dude deserves it as well.
To be fair, that’s why he ended up on the suns in the second stretch. Early aughts Mavs were never going to be a contender in hindsight BUT the Dirk Finley Nash days were a whole lot of fun. Now I don’t blame him or think negatively of him at all, even as a conflicted former Mavs fan
Nash left the mavs over money though, not to ring chase. Cuban wasn’t wiling to pay him what Colangelo and the Suns offered. Basically the Jalen Brunson situation.
Quite a bit different than the Suns quite literally calling Nash the “Sun, the moon, and the Stars” and a guy so loyal they couldn’t see him playing anywhere else. Nash saying he could never see himself playing for the Lakers. And then Nash being traded there at Nash’s request.
I’m over it now lol, but at the time it pissed me off more than you can imagine. I was all for him leaving to ring chase, I just thought it would be New York or Miami. When he went to the Lakers on the 4th of July it hurt real bad lol. The disastrous way it ended up playing out took the edge off relatively fast though.
NBA Champion Steve Nash (Coaching Staff)
He was only here a few years, but he’s still in the conversation. The city was electric during that finals run. He owned the city
Book’s been in Phoenix longer than Nash did in two stints. Crazy how I’m watching 11 straight years of Book.
Booker has been THE Phoenix Sun since the finals run. KD and Beal muddied the waters in some peoples eyes last few years but its always been Book since the finals.
Imo he’s been it since the bubble
He has been the Sun since Dragic left actually
Which is his entire career
You think the bubble run put Booker over Nash?
I’d think you’d have to include his next few years for that.
Nash could lift the whole team up and make them play above their talent and as much I love Book he’s never done that. He’s got that chance to do so this year and the next couple of years.
Barkley had the best peak as a Sun
Nash is the best player as a Sun
Shaq is the best player overall who has played for the Suns, even if it was just fat Shaq.
Booker is the greatest Sun
Eh, I know he was not a good fit for the Suns these past few years, but I’d say KD is the best player overall who played for us. Suns KD would wipe the floor with Suns Shaq.
I 100% agree on your Barkley/Nash/Book takes, though.
Shaq and Barkley had higher peaks all time in my opinion but he’s definitely up there though.
Overall rank. MJ is the greatest player overall for the Wizards, but he ain’t Mr. Wizard
Barkley wasn’t here long enough as great as he was. It’s between Book and Nash and I think Book is now the most beloved Suns player ever and if we have a competitive season he’ll be recognised as the great ‘Sun’ ever though not necessarily better than Nash or Barkley all time.
Barkley didn’t last as long but I think the 90’s nostalgia and his continued embrace of the city keeps him in the discussion for people. Nash had a better time as a Sun, but you’ll never hear any new stories of Steve Nash kicking it in Phoenix.
What the fuck? Really? I wasn’t born yet but ngl, I thought Barkley had the longest tenure on a team when he played with the Suns. Did he stay longer in Philly/Houston compared to Phoenix?
He only played 4 years on the Suns but peaked here. Went to the finals against MJ and won an MVP. Played 8 seasons in Philly and was kinda washed in Houston for the last 4 seasons of his career.
Was only a Sun for 4 seasons, it was our best team ever at the time arguably still is but yeah 8 years in Philly then 4 years suns 4 years rockets
He was in Philly twice as long as any other team. He just hit his peak in phx.
At this point he is. He’s not the best player we’ve ever had but he’s the greatest Sun of all time. Got us as close as we’ve ever been to a ring, broken pretty much every suns record and has stayed loyal through it all
He’s going to hold all of the important franchise records by a mile and helped lead us further than Nash did (no shade just it what it is) and was drafted here. Nash you can always argue because of the two MVPs and how strong of an identity the SSOL suns had. I think people who grew up watching Nash will have him still, anyone later than that it will be book
Nash was drafted here too!
Even if he does leave I think hes still THE Sun to me
1000% he is. I worshipped Nash growing up but Booker has definitely taken the spot from Nash. Like others have said, as fond as the memory as Chuck as a Sun and going to the finals in 93 is in our minds, he wasn’t here all that long in comparison
If he sticks out this contract 100%. Barkley was barely here, and Booker already has more seasons than Nash did in phoenix.
People gonna sleep on Walter Davis and Alvin Adams in this conversation, but it’s Book for sure.
Took way too long to find this answer. Just look up all time Suns numbers
Most folks don’t know the history of every team, but I’m shocked more Suns fans don’t know about Sweet D and Alvin Adams.
I’m rocking my Connie Hawkins jersey all the time
Not just for having the Suns all time points, but just his loyalty, how good of a dude he is, the Olympics, taking us to the Finals. He’s our dude more than any player we’ve ever had for sure.
Yeah as a Suns fan, I’d say Book is the guy. Went to the finals and pushed the Bucks to 6, and mostly lost due to Paul breaking down against a super underrated Jrue and having no backup plan. Nash probably should’ve gone to at least one but ran into roadblocks. Barkley had an incredible mvp season but Jordan. And arguably a super team in 94-95 but hinged on Danny Manning staying heathy, which yea…
Booker clearly wants to be in Phoenix for his career and I like the way this current team is playing as a team, even without Jalen Green
Shades of
Plot twist, it’s the same kid four years older
This is who told Luka to hit the treadmill in ‘24
Thats a hard 4 years
Right before he pulled his hammy after a 30 point first half
That baby was cursed…
Send da video
Is that that little Russian kid that Mike tyson kissed cuz he thought it was a baby
He seems much happier this season, you can tell the vibes are great in Phoenix
Phoenix and Tucson… great vibes. Amazing weather when half the country is freezing their butts off in November - February.
Walking my dog in a tank top and shorts rn in Tucson. Absolutely loving it lmao
Stuff like this probably holds extra weight for nba players. They’re flying to cities across the country all winter, and probably experiencing the shitty weather basically everywhere, but then you get home and it’s super nice. Probably makes you appreciate the weather even more having to go in and out of it so much.
I was in Phoenix this summer when it was 119. I’ve been in really hot weather before but I legit knew I would die in like 15 minutes if I were forced to stay outside in that temp. Brutal.
same but wasnt expecting it to be humid. rolled down my car window and i was confused for a moment why my engine started blowing hot air, then realized its the fucking city
Literally nothing in Tucson but ok buddy.
Like Oklahoma City is any better
OKC wishes it had the natural beauty Tucson does, they’re lucky Tucson doesn’t wana make them their bitch 🤣
Don’t live there and don’t disagree with you
Tucson is literally one of the the oldest continued inhabited places in the world.
100%, its night and day. last year was HARD for Book.
People will understand how great he was in the future
I remember 2022 playoffs him single handedly taking 2 games off of the Nuggets. I think Durant played well too but he literally could not miss that series. Dude just gets buckets
Edit: yeah his stats in 11 playoff games that year were 33.7⁄4.8⁄7.2 on 58.5⁄50.5⁄86.6 insane numbers
I’m glad he got to show in the Olympics how good he can be in serious games.
lol buddy is just John wall of the west
Average no IQ Celtics fan
That’s crazy because the Boston fans I’ve met are sport obsessed guys who have encyclopedic knowledge on all 4 sports - baseball, basketball, hockey, and football. This must be the breed I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting.
This breed doesn’t go outside.
Did John Wall make it to the finals and win two gold medals?
Room temp IQ
He’s still bitter about the 70 piece in the TD Garden.
lol bitter about a win?? Imagine celebrating that many points in an L. You’re bitter our franchise lightskin dude led us to the promised land.
The guy who got benched for booker on the olympic team?
I can assure you I do not care about you at all.
Where did I say you cared about me? You said I’m bitter about something that happened in TD garden and I said you’re bitter about something that also happened in TD garden. Keep driving Uber Eats cause your reading comprehension ain’t there.
My guy, you’re so upset you had to dig through my post history to try and shame me. Fuck me for working to pay for my dog’s cancer treatment right? Just keep proving what shitbags Boston fans are.
Honestly you’re just getting rage baited by 1 guy.
You have to work on reading comprehension honestly. I didn’t shame you for the work you do, said nothing bad about Uber Eats. I shammed you for lacking comprehension skills. Very big difference.
Celtics fan are just upset Tatum has zero aura and is the most boring personality of any star in the league
Something about Tatum just has a ✨ring✨ to it
Got carried by Jaylen brown
Lead in points, rebounds, and assists in the finals but got carried. The Water in phoenix has to be contaminated.
Very stellar performance 26% from 3 and 38% from the field. He got robbed of finals mvp right
You said it not me
Not even a good comparison lol
This is why he’ll have a statue in Phoenix when he retires
Or a hot dog
Or some cold cheese and nachos
Hmm traded to Lakers instead.
SadMavsFan
My own head canon is that this is the same kid he dapped up in that pelicans game a few years back
He aged 12 years in 3 years?
That’s what skin to skin contact with a legend does to you, it makes you a man
Those combination of words should not be put in one sentence my guy.
Reminds me Ricky stanicky when the dudes kid is born
Thats what Bradley Beal basketball does to a mf
I’m ded
To be fair all Suns fans have aged 12 years in the last 3.
bookers always seemed like a nice dude off the court like when he gave out shoes in paris or bought some lemonade from kids for like $100
Does a lot for charity too and is a special Olympics ambassador, he’s just a good dude and a great player which has always made the hate he gets a bit weird
That double team video still has this sub in jail sometimes
He gives out the shoes all the time around Phoenix by stashing them around town, or really anywhere he is traveling.
A man of the people
I just have the biggest smile on my face how good is this, the valley loves him and he gives the love back
Adorable
Hell yeah
Book the man.
That’s awesome
Valley hero
“You little rascal!”
Common W, Book is for the children.
In 6-7 years, this kid will look back at this highlight in delight
6 or 7 huh? What does that mean?
W Book and Ant for being cool to the young fans. Lifetime memories made.
You love to see it
This is making me cry
They can never make me hate you Devin
My empathetic ass has always been sad at the book hate on this sub but what us real fans know is how he’s been to his sister his entire life, fame or not. His character was built loooonnnggg ago, and has held it his whole life. You can pick and choose what parts of his nba career you wanna judge, but that’s Devin Armani Booker. A true Sun
Dude is a class act
The lil fella is gonna remember that for the rest of his skibidi life
if this doesnt tell you booker is a suns lifer i dont know what will
He’s as ride or die for us as we are for him
Probably the only dude who was immune to the Kardashian curse lmao
Man , Booker is such a class act and a hooper. I’m not a Suns fan , but I wish they were competitive , but it is what it is ig
I think we could be a sneaky good season, not title contenders or anything but we’re looking alright
He should never wash his hair and that hand
Test
Booker has always been a great dude.
That’s some wholesome stuff, nice work Book
It’s moments like this that truly define a player’s legacy, not just the stats. The way he made that kid’s entire year is pure class. He’s absolutely building a case to be in that franchise GOAT conversation alongside Chuck and Nash. This kind of connection with the city and the fans is what cements that status.
That was genuinely awesome!
I wish more of these types of positive vibes happened more often!
Made his day? Made him a moment to remember for life. Such a cool thing to see.
Oh it’s cute when the kid does it but when I try to do it I get escorted out of the stadium and labeled as a weirdo
Ehhh.. the kid is probably rich
How can you dislike this man. Thanks for the Olympic gold champ
Not a fan of booker but that’s wholesome
Why aren’t you a fan of Booker?
Bro dw if he was on my team I’d be a big fan 🤣
Little brat
Careful you don’t cut yourself with all the edge.
Suns always trying when there’s nothing at stake
Should just go 0-82 so true
