Yea, there was an interview with Dell Curry that got taken down. He made it pretty clear that the Nike presentation pissed him off.

it kind of was - he assumed that… jet? material was okay, and that he was thinking outside the box for using it, not comprehending or caring that it got weaker over time instead of stronger over time like some options he could have used (but wouldn’t have been as cheap).

He’s probably just good at selling himself in job interviews. You don’t need to be charismatic to do that

It’s more like ordained by Kobe in this case. I think it was the combination of Nike mystique + money and his relationship with Kobe and others from that generation of Nike players and agents.

He’s not charismatic or good on media. He just had some relationships that were highly valued in NBA circles. And he seemed to be good at getting his bosses to like him. That combination is how he convinced Cuban to give him the job.

The fact that he had a good relationship with Kobe, convinced him that his bad relationship with Luka was a fatal character flaw on Luka’s part.

Dallas local here. They brought him in because he was said to have been pals with a bunch of players due to his time at Nike. He was a “players like him” type of personality first GM. Cuban fumbled his exit away from the ma s big time.

Im not gonna say what race, what people, a doctor….

i grew up doing debate in high school, and playing devil’s advocate was fundamental. if you want to understand your own argument, you need to be able to argue the opposite. i’m hesitant to have political discussions w/ 20somethings at work bc they assume that if i take a position opposite from theirs, that i agree w/ that position. or if i say something that is in slight agreement w/ someone who is their polar opposite that i agree w/ the entirety of that opposing position.

that said, playing devil’s advocate (similar to libertarians who are just asking questions) have justifiably gotten a bad rep lately from guys arguing in bad faith who not so furtively actually hold those positions but are too cowardly to admit it.

It’s just a way to justify bad behavior. They want to be able to act egotistical and narcissistic, and pretend like they have to do it because they’re chasing success.

Look at people glazing Kobe and MJ’s abuse while conveniently ignoring everyone else who got there without being an asshole. “Mamba mentality” means abusing those around you.

Sam Presti wrote a letter apologising to the whole OKC fan base for blowing it up when the Harden/KD/Russ project ended. I really don’t think Nico could do anything of the sort. And he did it because he didn’t think OKC were ever gonna win once KD left. I think seeing how Harden’s and Russ’ careers have gone since then - he was justified 

Not really outside of the box. OKC back then needed a defensive anchor at the paint and Perkins fits the bill.

Harden got the axe because some of his skills overlaps with Westbrook’s (quick, small guy who can score).

If anything, choosing Perkins was inside the box thinking. At the time, everyone thought you need a big to be successful.
