You spoke, we’ve listened. Let’s talk highlights.
Hi r/baseball redditors, MLB social team here! Earlier this week, we made the decision to shift our content focus to more unique/original content and let the community take the lead on posting highlights.
Our mod friends shared that update so that there would be no ambiguity, and you all had some thoughts. This might be the most united we’ve ever seen this sub. You like the speed and quality of our highlights, and you don’t want to see a change.
When we made the decision to shift content focus, it was inspired by two things: we heard feedback that our account was dominating the front page, and we saw an opportunity to add more to the community by focusing on content you won’t see anywhere else. This is your community, we just love being a part of it, and so we never wanted our posting volume to feel like a takeover.
Our bottom line is that we’re here to add value, and you’re the ones who dictate what that means. That two-way street is why we love posting here.
And while we thought the best way to add value would be to take a step back on highlights, your response to the update made it clear that that assumption was wrong.
You’ve spoken, and we hear you. Starting with Game 1 of the World Series, u/MLBofficial highlights are back! We aren’t trying to be your exclusive highlights source - the mods here treat our posts like any other user, which we think is important - but we are here to post highlights in the highest quality as quickly as possible.
Thank you to everyone who shared your opinion. In the offseason, look for some follow-up posts to poll what you want to see more of from us. Until then, enjoy the World Series!
