What time should I get to a Celtics game?
I’m going to my first Celtics game tonight. What time would you aim to get there? I’m going solo.
Last year, we got in an hour early. I’m not sure if they’ve changed that this year, but let me tell you, even an hour before the game starts, the place is buzzing with excitement! People were everywhere.
I would look to be out of your transportation method (either parked your car or off the T) an hour before tip. You have time to walk around and just enjoy the energy.
I’ve gone solo a few times and had a great time. Enjoy the game!
Is parking free?
Parking is not free
Nope, not unless you get street parking outside the stadium (meter parking.) You can get those if you get there around 5PM, as people leave work around then and free up some spots. As soon as you get closer to 6PM, it’ll be slim picking.
Would you spend \(200 on seat in the first section behind the basket, or like \)130 on an upper-most section but has a side of the court position?
Hmmm. Depends on the type of experience you want. I’ve done both and had a good time in both. I think you get to enjoy the actual game better on the side. I will often try to get a lower row in the balcony, somewhat in the middle & I’ve always had a good time with that.
The closer you are, you feel the energy a bit more, but maybe can’t see the game as well. They both have their own perks, but I usually go for the game if I’m solo, so you’ll find me in the balcony, somewhat in the middle, on a lower row. If with a few friends, maybe less paying attention to the game and behind the basket.
Where are you coming from? Take the nearest subway train in, or if you’re not near the subway take the commuter rail. TD Garden is attached to North Station. Parking in Boston will suck and be expensive.
\(200 for seats right behind the basket against a quality team isnt too bad. \)130 for balcony seats a few rows back center court isn’t too bad either. Some people want nearly \(200 for those first few rows on the balcony, I personally would not pay more than \)150.
I’m in Dorchester.
Way better than parking @ TD Garden if you don’t mind not having access to a car.
Pretty sure the subway is easily accessible from Dorchester if you can find parking nearby, I’m not familiar with the stations there though. Commuter rail usually has guaranteed parking but riding it into Boston compared to the subway is like 4x the price.
Take the red line to Park Street and walk over. It’s like a 15 minute walk. Just walk through city hall plaza and you’re basically there.
From what I remember you can’t actually get into the arena until an hour prior
See you there!
Do you think the upper balcony seats are worth it for the savings?
There really isn’t a bad seat in the house, imo. I used to attend games in the very last section of the nose bleeds and still saw everything okay. If you’re going tonight the crowd should be good regardless of where you sit!
Not a bad seat in the Garden. I almost always go with the Balcony to save money, just try to get on the side of the court rather then behind the basket. But even that isn’t too bad.
Thank you!
I’d say a good hour before hand so you can watch the fellas warm up. Have a great time!!!
