We still don’t even know wtf happened to him last year do we? The guy got sick and missed like a month of the season, came back for a month, then got sick again in the playoffs and could barely move. We just ignoring all that? This is also after load managing him for 2 straight years. Kp is a monster when he’s healthy and was the ultimate ceiling raiser for our team but we paid the guy 60mil for like 4 good playoff games

You’ve probably seen by now but basically he has a heart condition that if you’re not taking steps to treat will basically make it damn near impossible to even stand without getting super tired and dizzy. Hence why in his minutes on the court, he looked so gassed. Cause he was. Just by standing.

I did just see that. I’m no dr but I have a hard time believing he will be able to continue an nba career like that. Sucks cus he really is a basketball unicorn and by all accounts was a great teammate here, at least he got a ring.

Yeah it’s a shame. He announced they’re taking steps to manage it but I looked up what they said he has and it’s a something that you can pretty much only management. Hopefully for him, he can manage it as best as possible and get a few more years in, but I wouldn’t be totally surprised if he was done in the next couple years

Being disciplined and not overreacting to bad results could pay off for them. They were injured a fair bit last year. They could have done more but they had faith in their core and added to it.

I mean not people aren’t going to name you executive for the year for selling off your team as a salary job even if you do a good job.

You go from it being the NBA favorites to an estimated 500 team I mean… I think it’s expecting a lot that people would recognize that above teams that got better. That’s not Brad Stevens fault He’s dealing with the reality but people aren’t going to reward you for selling your team off so the owner saves a bunch of luxury tax money, set the apron etc…

If they start winning again next year or whatever then he could win executive a year again. Simply dumping contracts isn’t usually going to win you much recognition. Especially since stuff like the holiday trade ended up being worse than it looked initially.

It was for getting out of the aprons. If you’re over the second apron, there’s a lot of penalties and it makes it way harder for the celtics to get better and make trades. Also, there’s no reason to try and put all the chips on the table while tatum is injured.

Brad Stevens was somehow appreciated by a few with his offseason moves by going from $20M+ above the second apron to a few million dollars above the first apron, saving millions and avoided “basketball penalties” and still able to assemble a decent team
