Just watched Locked On Celtics where the main topic was Celtics toughness and who is going to emerge as a pain in the ass, hard fouling, take no bs player. Maybe it’s because he’s not a rotation player yet but just by his ejection in summer league and his media day picture where it looks like he’s trying to mean mug the photographer out of the building, I think Jordan Walsh has it in his head that he can be that guy. Can he be that guy?

I am not saying it wasn’t. I just think he is very much trying to be that guy, which is interesting, because the Celtics do need someone out there who is just a pain in the ass irritating get under your skin player. I am not saying he’ll be successful, I’m saying he is the only person trying to fill those shoes.

Yes, Minott is far more developed and has a skillset that fits a well defined role (baseline maestro). Hugo is the developmental do everything forward. Walsh needs to become a very good perimeter defender, hit open shots, and convert in transition, and most importantly, nothing more (know your role)! A lot of if’s, as to be expected by a 2nd round pick.

I listened to that show this morning and wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that the team is “too nice”. DWhite, JB, PP are all aggressive defenders and intense competitors. We haven’t seen Queta get more than spot minutes, Minot looks to be a real gamer and I agree that if Walsh can get rotation minutes he will earn it through tough play. Honestly, last year’s team was “nicer”, with Jrue, KP and Al actually making their names by being good guys. OKC won the title last year with a bunch of really good players that acted like school boys…so yeah. Let’s go Celtics 🍀
