[Caught in 4K] Side-by-side video of NBA commissioner Adam Silver blatantly lying about not knowing anything about Clippers sponsor Aspiration.
Dude tried to Eurostep his way out of that one, but looking at the replay it was a clear travel violation.
Absolute unforced error too. No reason to deny any knowledge so hard to start.
Remember when Brady said he’d never thought about the amount of air in the football and then someone immediately found an interview where he said he loved when Gronk spikes the ball because it lets air out and gives a better grip? We live in an era where people just say stuff that’s obviously untrue
I mean that’s also just a wild claim to make. High school QBs prep their balls and you’re meaning to tell me an NFL one never thought about it?
It’s like the Chapman interview where Buster Olney says he never thought about locating his fastball. It’s just a ridiculous comment
Jomboys response was as respectful as one could be while saying “are you fucking dumb?”
Ya props to Jomboy for taking the highroad on that. Even backed up his claim showing video of Chapman shaking off catcher signs and gave an out for Olney about what it actually might have meant
Olney made it even worse with the whole “day x of asking jomboy to respond to this” like he’s a kid trying to get some money from Mr beast and not an industry peer he has a working relationship with. The decline in journalistic standards is so sad to see.
We live in an era of moral hazard, where there are no consequences for bad actors, so there is only an incentive to act badly. There used to be rules and decorum, then the generation that own and control everything decided to rig everything in their favour.
That’s every era In history. Just so happens we’ve now got video evidence of everything.
If the last 5-10 years has proven anything it is that those in charge of government, business, sports organizations did not get there because they are competent at their jobs. CEOs, presidents, senators, are some of the most incompetent people on the planet, that are only in those positions because of their cruelty, greed, and nepotism.
He did the “Ty Jerome against the Pacers in round 2” version of the Euro.
I agree, go Cavs 😭
Good thing the NBA doesn’t call travels
Luckily for him this is the NBA where they dont care about travels. It is a highlight league afterall…
Pablo lights the green light. Let’s go to replay in Secaucus.
Lmao
When last two minute report
He also blatantly lied by saying he didn’t say that people who can’t afford League Pass should just watch highlights instead, yet there is a video of him saying exactly that.
fr man be acting like receipts don’t exist 💀 you can’t just gaslight the whole fanbase when clips are right there
He understands, as many fellow politicians do, that the vast majority of people consuming his comments don’t care to do any fact-checking and aren’t intellectually curious. That’s why so many people ask questions and rely on AI chatbots that “hallucinate” half the time.
When your audience is unconcerned with history you can rewrite it right in front of them as often as you like.
Of all the playbooks that work, Trump has shown the vast majority of Americans are cheaply bought and will not use any critical thinking if it casts doubt on a “certain” reality. People latch upon this confidence (even when it is blatant lying) because it further suppresses any personal anxiety, insecurity, or lack of understanding.
There is a reason Cuban, who has eyes on running for office, has entered this conversation. He gets to witness who follows or can be persuaded by his brand of confidence or “reality”. I’ve already seen comments on this subreddit that reflect people becoming “tired” of following the story themselves and just want someone to summarize. Well, insert an ultra wealthy (“successful”) and confident voice, why wouldn’t you take his word?
Educate yourselves!
Those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past control the future.
Haha, Clips

Unfortunately that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s the playbook nowadays in life. Hypocrisy in 100% receipt form and nothing happens.
He’s taking the trump approach that has been very effective
Receipts don’t matter anymore. The greatest gift that the shameless, ignorant masses have learned is that they can just say they didn’t do what everyone knows they did, and no one will do anything about it.
You can absolutely gaslight whoever you want once you realize no one cares enough to take action and hold you accountable. If you don’t care what they think about you, it’s a ticket to immunity.
He absolutely can. We live in a world where the rich and power routinely gaslight large swaths of the population on a daily basis in the most blatant ways possible because it works swimingly on many and they rarely see anything even resembling negative repercussions.
May this time be different, by the power of the Torre. 🤞
I mean nothing bad is going to happen to him because of it. He’s just a puppet for the owners. I wish silver had gotten fired years ago but it’s never going to happen.
Highlights are right there
Exactly! On day one the reporter asked about expensive prices to consume nba games. He said (paraphrasing) if you can’t afford it just the highlights that’s all this league is to begin with. Then yesterday, he tried to walk it back and spin it saying “oh, that’s not what I meant. It’s how do we make the highlight viewer a game viewer”. Frank and Scal on their show “The Starting Lineup” on NBA radio Ch 86 on Sirius xmradio said it would cost just short of $1k a year if you bought all streaming services to view NBA games. That’s absurd.
Tbf, I also took that quote as Long John Adam Silver promoting all his buddies that sail the high seas
Lol! Well when you put it like that
Sirius xmradio said it would cost just short of $1k a year if you bought all streaming services to view NBA games. That’s absurd.
Not to defend the NBA, but when you put it in context, that’s cheaper than what most of us were paying for cable before. I’ll break it down monthly to give a comparison that we’re all used to. To get all the national NBA content, you need Peacock Premium (\(10.99 a month), Prime Video (\)8.99 a month), and ESPN Unlimited ($29.99 a month).
So in total, you’re spending \(50 a month to get all national NBA games, plus access to watch everything else on ESPN, Disney, Hulu, Peacock, and Amazon. Some markets will have an additional cost (usually \)20 a month) associated with watching their team’s local broadcast, but some have them free over-the-air.
Before streaming became what it is now, I was paying $200+ per month for DirecTV.
I understand that DTV was expensive at the time but I think both the argument could be made that a TV package gave you more options than just buying it for NBA plus the fact that in a time when games should be way more available due to technology the availability is arguably worse because it’s been divided so much among the different services that it does become more frustrating for the average person
Man is coming for Pam bondi’s job
Haircut lookin more like Stephen Miller though
Please someone make a video of this. Silver is such a bum
For someone who’s a lawyer by trade, he’s pretty fast and loose with his words.
That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a sports commissioner say
Tied with Rob “the world series trophy is just a piece of metal” Manfred
He’s a slimy lawyer after all
A slimy lawyer would know better than to say these stupid things.
doesn’t mean he’s a good lawyer , just slimy
lionel hutz for example
I’ve argued in front of every judge in this state — often as a lawyer.
No! Money Down.
I’m not wearing a tie at all
Works on contingency?
Mr. Silver, are you aware you aren’t wearing any pants?
Oh, I thought that’s was just a figure of speech? Case closed.
Lionel Hutz no longer exists. Say hello to Miguel Sanchez!
He’s genuinely 10x worse than David Stern. Hate Stern all you want but at least he had a spine. Silver is just a bitch who could not care less about NBA fans. Always on his knees for the owners.
Stern’s legendary spine led him to protect the most bigoted owner in pro sports, suppress an FBI investigation into referee corruption, and blackmail Seattle out of a team.
Suspended Stephen Jackson 7 for opening fire outside a strip club. Who was also apart of malice in the palace.
Meanwhile Silver gave Ja 33 game suspension for flashing one on instalive.
This revering of Stern like he was some hardass is fucking insane. These young bucks weren’t even alive back then. Stern was weaker than Silver, he was just a giant asshole so it came across as tough. His actions however were weak af.
The Stern worship is ridiculous. He’s been lionized into this benevolent dictator.
For the record, I think he and Silver are about the best commissioners you’ll find in American sports. That should tell you how messed up the job really is.
Pretty selective to not include the Gilbert Arenas suspension for 50 games. Or how Silver has enabled Draymond Green to get away with so much on court violence.
It’s laughable to suggest Stern was weaker than Silver, anyone who has lived through both knows that’s a complete fabrication.
I remember how harshly Stern treated Bill Laimbeer, who repeatedly assaulted the faces of the league. Suspended a handful of games. Karl Malone, who sent people to the hospital with elbows. Only a handful of games. Bruce Bowen, who undercut every star who shot a jumper on him. Just a couple of games.
But Silver is enabling Draymond. Give me a break.
Gilbert literally brought a fucking gun into the locker room over a gambling dispute. Today under Silver he would’ve caught at least a season. Dude had to plead guilty to felony weapon charges.
Draymond is an asshole and caught an indefinite suspension and forced to go to therapy. He’s never done anything CLOSE to malice in the palace. Also he caught a game suspension that likely cost them the 2016 finals.
Look Dray is a bad person and I agree Silver should’ve been tougher, but if you think Stern was going to punish a super important part of the most popular team in the league worse than Silver you are wrong.
Those are his bosses.
They were Stern’s too
I’m aware, but it’s possible to have your own opinion on things and not just do whatever the owners want.
A good commissioner takes the owners wants in consideration but also knows how to make decisions that are unpopular with the owners for the sake of the league. It’s like they’re a chaperone for 30 or so children…yeah sometimes they’ll give the kids Cookie Crisps for breakfast but they’ll also make the kids eat vegetables too
Silver just has looked weak during his run
if you don’t do what the majority of owners want, then you will not have that job for very long my dude. Billionaires do not take being told “no” well at all. Especially a group of them.
Always on his knees for the owners.
And Chinese communist party
I’m a slimy lawyer. No, this is a dumb fuck insurance executive being impeached on the stand about his deposition testimony.
Fun fact : snakes are in fact not slimy
He should have asked ChatGPT to write that speech with the prompt:
“Pretend I’m not completely aware of these organisations or incidents, without admitting I know nothing about it in the most subtle guilt free compassionate approach. Also then make it sound more like David Stern.
Now totally convinced he’s going to let them get away with it and may have been aware all along
Yeah this league is blatantly fucking rigged. They’re absolutely shameless about it nowadays.
Over the last ~30 years the league has had a serious integrity problem and the FTX and Aspiration deals (combined with the cap circumvention) is a dreadful look
I love basketball but I’m starting to really dislike the NBA
The league office doesn’t seem to care remotely about basketball or integrity. It cares about money. Also money. Finally, money.
Honestly, they are not alone and it’s is where the US mindset has got to. Greed is good has never been fought
No reason to change anything as long as we, their revenue drivers, continue to watch our basketball.
you forgot what else it cares about.
just wait for coinbase to unravel
Wait what is up with coinbase?
It’s an unregulated company in an unregulated industry rife with fraud, peddling an unregulated product used by international criminals to illicitly fund their activities, and that’s run by the most immature, tech-browy clowns that Silicon Valley has ever spit out?
A lot of that is true, but Coinbase is a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ since 2021. So I wouldn’t say it is “unregulated” at this point. Though you could make the case that they aren’t regulated enough.
But it’s chances of going bankrupt is significantly lower than FTX because they have to provide quarterly earnings reports and accounting information that regulators and investors dig into looking for signs of fraud or mismanagement. Meanwhile FTX accounting was a Quickbooks account hidden behind closed doors.
True. “Unregulated” is a bit of an overexagerration but given the fact that they spent millions to lobby Congress to let them choose their regulator - the CFTC, which doesn’t have criminal enforcement authority, and DOGE just chopped their already meager staff, I don’t put much stock in the crypto industry facing any accountability.
You can’t expect much when the US president that lacks accountability himself is backing the industry that’s lacking accountability in general. A match make in heaven even lol
Yeah it is absolutely true. The players aren’t innocent either. We’re at a point where nba fans make up a smaller portion of the domestic population than I can ever remember it being, and the majority of the remaining fans I knew already believed, at a team success level, the league was basically athletic theatre like the WWE. And that was true years ago, before the doncic trade and draft lottery situation this year.
The only reason I’ll say it hasn’t affected their bottom line to the point of the top line going down is the incredible growth in China that has dwarfed the domestic viewership/attention losses. But at some point what’s the fun of cheering for the Celtics, lakers, warriors, mavericks or the rest of the in-group teams when you can’t lord your teams success over the flyover states and smaller markets? Are you gonna lord your team over a bunch of Chinese people who are up at 4 AM their time? I think a day of reckoning is coming.
I played basketball daily for around 25 years - I didn’t watch the NBA for almost all of that time, specifically because of all the cheating.
It’s hurting their bottom-line. Imagine what a daily player would have spent on their product.
Nico Harrison sighing in relief that this will overshadow any sketchiness of the Luka trade from being found out
Have to wonder if the NBA is allowing some teams to get away with more salary cap tomfoolery if they’re in LA, or NY or other desirable locations. Not saying it’s happening, but these answers are opening that door imo
The league showing they would look the other way about getting Kawhi to LA makes it more likely, not less, there were lottery promises in return for Luka to LA tbh.
IF the lottery promises for a Luka trade were proven to be true, I almost think that would be bigger than the Kawhi stuff? The Kawhi stuff is obviously huge and needs to be handled, but (and this is going to sound dismissive but it absolutely isn’t) he was almost assuredly going to a big market team regardless, and was never going to a lottery team.
Lottery tampering though? That’s a HUGE deal that directly impacts underperforming teams vying for a good pick in the lottery.
what 3 borderline playoff teams getting picks 1 2 and 3 wasn’t enough for you to figure that out?
That’s what I’ve been asking dude.
I mean the NBA has been blatantly rigged since Stern took over
This MFer has been blue balling Sonics fans for a decade saying “expansion is around the corner” only for our city just to be used as one big fucking pawn for other owners to leverage city’s to finance an arena for them with the threat of moving.
David Stern would have gone off on these scammers
Bro mavs give up Luka have a 1.6% chance to roll #1 pick in the lotto and do 🤌🏻
Lakers get there product to sell for the next decade plus.
This league is salami it’s not real it’s a illusion of meat with hella fake shit
Said this from day one. It’s going to be a slap on the wrist at best. Ballmer is too powerful, Silver is too slimy and clearly rigging the league, and the Clippers are clearly not the only team that did something like this.
We’re seeing this play out at a macro level to in the US. The idea that the rich and powerful keep each other in check so they’re all playing by the same rules. But that’s not how it plays out. Even when they get screwed over by someone they don’t want that person punished. Because they want to do it too.
They don’t want an even playing field. They want to carve out their own individual fields where they can’t be told what to do and answer to nobody.
Yup regulation and oversight is the responsibility of those who benefit from non compliance for gain. It’s what allowed the corporate money into everything, and eventually to a sold out supreme court enshrining it.
This is the true cause of the US slow death. Corruption. Corporations realized they weren’t getting punished and if they were it was less than they gained. So everyone started doing it. Everyone has been juicing stocks for years at the expense of the future. Don’t train staff. Don’t invest. Cut safety measures. Smoke any unions. Yada yada. Any morality has been crushed under greed.
You’re exactly right, corruption has undone this country
It’s highly likely that he would prefer that outcome. He is close with Ballmer, and bringing him into the league was one of his signature accomplishments.
But it’s not up to him. The decision here is really simple: is a majority of the other owners OK with undoing the salary cap - at least as it applies to star players - and also letting Ballmer steal money from them via dodging the luxury tax.
Maybe they are! Perhaps the second apron is too strict and rich endorsements for basically no work would be seen as a pressure release valve. Ballmer is building a huge new arena and rehabilitating the Clippers will put more money in owners’ pockets than if he wasn’t around.
Whatever the case, it’s up to them. Not the commissioner. Not the investigators. Silver is going to do whatever a strong majority of the owners want him to do. Otherwise he’ll be gone.
I’d really like to know what would it take to get this disingenuous slimeball out of his position as commissioner. Dude is absolutely destroying the game
“Yeah I remember grinding my feet on Eddie’s couch” type quote from Silver lol.
You can buy a new couch. What am I gonna do about my league??
He’s rich
“Buy another team you rich motherfucker”
I was just getting ready to comment this. lol!
Cocaine is a hell of drug….. hehehehe.
I’m so confused why he’d even lie lmao. Is he really this desperate to cover up for Ballmer? I know he’s the richest guy associated with the league but this is a layup.
Implies Ballmer has more influence than expected, probably more off the books deals going on somewhere.
Being one of the richest people in the world gives you influence that almost no one can contend with. They usually sweeten the pot if you do what they want, or financially threaten you if you don’t
Yup. There’s a reason Ballmer keeps mentioning the new arena. He’s done plenty of “favors” for the league.
Yeah this was always going to be a test of how much does Silver bend over backwards for Ballmer. He has the same net worth as owners 2-9 combined, and Silver doesn’t want to scare away other rich people.
I don’t think it’s that complex. Silver wants the league to make all the money it can, all the time. Trying to sweep this scandal under the rug was the best path to keeping money flowing. Appease the other owners in the background, shut the cap circumnavigation down or put some kind of controls on it, and never let it see the light of day.
However many clicks and views it is getting right now, the scandal will hurt the NBA long-term. Trying to make it go away was (in an ethics-less, revenue-driven view) the right call for the commissioner to make in that moment.
He just didn’t know Pablo was holding onto 10 more layers of receipts and proof that would make them all look like liars and idiots multiple times over.
Gotta imagine a new commissioner will be one result of the fallout of all of this.
Yep.
What Silver doesn’t want happening is half the teams getting pulled into this, because you know it’s not the only or first time this sort of situation has occurred.
It’s also self-preservation. Silver can be ousted at any time if the owners vote him out. The quickest way to get voted out is to do things the owners don’t want you doing.
Ballmer took a franchise plagued by cheapness, racism and indifference and pumped in a liquid IV drip of money and enthusiasm. I’m sure he loves Balmer, and this sucks for him, but he needs to do his job.
His job is to hug and kiss the owners, stroke their hair, and tell them it’s all going to be okay because mommy will fix this for them.
stroke their hair
I have good news!
Ballmer could save his reputation if he came clean. People want to like him, but this could change that quick.
Yes, Adam Silver has never cared about the league or the sport.
It’s so consistent every time you hear this guy talk that he has never once cared about the actual game of basketball.
I think there’s also a small chance he was telling the truth in the first clip and lying in the second.
After saying he had never heard of them, there was a surge of “don’t you personally sign off one every single partnership?” comments. It’s possible he completely pawns the responsibility off to another lawyer, they say “looks good”, and then he signs that shit automatically without looking. By revealing he’s never heard of the brand, he’d essentially be admitting that he doesn’t actually do his job.
Either way, he’s obviously lying, I’m just not totally sure it’s in the direction we’re assuming it is.
Good point.
He’s a lawyer, what do you mean youre confused why he would lie? It’s not lying to them, its just talking
Lawyers dont lie, they manipulate wording and facts in order to argue in favor of something. This is just a lie
Yes and when that’s not enough they lie their ass off.
Lawyers lie all the time
“‘my client is innocent!”- said about a client who was very much not innocent
Just that on its own kinda proves you’re talking total shit. Lawyers aren’t interested in innocence. They’re interested in provable guilt. Its why you don’t plea innocent, you plea not guilty. Saying “you can’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt that my client did this” is not the same thing as saying “my client is innocent”. Stop getting your understanding of the world from TV.
There are also plenty of trials where the defense outright says “yeah, my client did it, but you didn’t prove it.” And they’ll get acquitted.
That’s actually what the jury is SUPPOSED to be doing.
And people really think the Mavs getting Flagg was just luck
People really thinking the Lakers of all teams got a sweetheart deal for Luka was solely due to Nico being a knob
Given everything we know about that it does actually seem highly likely
As a Laker fan 1st NBA fan 2nd, no way someone can convince me that Luka deal was not rigged. Maybe it was about sale of Lakers where the new possible owners would not want to pay premium for a futureless Lakers franchise. I have pretty good knowledge of the NBA history and safe to say this trade is unprecented levels of stupid.
What do you mean, every pro league has 3 borderline playoff teams pick 1 2 and 3 on 1% odds that totally normal and nothing to look into there at all.
So, the draft lottery wound up being nearly as bad an outcome as could have happened for my particular fandom/preferences… but you can literally watch the drawing. Please explain how this was rigged:
https://www.nba.com/watch/video/2025-draft-lottery-watch-the-full-drawing
Somebody threw together the lookup table for all 1000 possible outcomes and there just happened to be a bunch of high numbers in the draw despite the unlikelihood of that happening:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSQXK90GjEU13YXLVxoJA_wiY42_J2wCvKdnvVHTjPqqfwuSzTLqqGuT6_Gt7hE01uiw8CU9V4hOXKb/pubhtml
The league is corrupt in other areas and I’m here for discussion of how David Stern shut down the investigation into ref involvement in gambling… but the lottery is one of those things that it just out in the open (though they do only show the tape after they do their announcement show for fan engagement because the product is less “fun” when it starts with the number 1 pick.)
The draft lottery isn’t rigged. People have been claiming this since 1984. If it was rigged, we’d have evidence by now. There are too many eyes on it. Too many people that would need to be silenced and paid off.
This is yet again a failure of lack of critical thinking. It’s been 40+ years, and not a single shred of credible evidence has ever emerged. There hasn’t been a single disgruntled or former NBA employee bringing it up. There is no single, simple methodology that can be employed to explain how it’s rigged. This should tell you it’s not rigged. Just like how climate change denial constantly needs to invent new “theories” to explain their bullshit, same thing here. Is it frozen envelopes? Is it weighted balls? Is it faked videos? Why can’t anyone seem to agree on the method being used? The great thing about the truth is it is consistent and doesn’t change.
It reminds me of the endless Titanic conspiracy theories. All of them rely on over 15,000 people somehow keeping a secret. All you have to do is watch any true crime channel and see how long it takes for a secret between two people to be given up.
Like I said in another post yesterday: the draft isn’t rigged and never has been. It’s a combation of: perception/world view (“I believe the draft is rigged, therefore it is.”); emotion (“my team didn’t get the pick I wanted!” Etc.); and a general poor understanding of odds, randomness, and RNG. (I play a lot of Pokemon, and you should see how many people are convinced the accuracy is bugged because that 90% move missed once, ignoring the hundreds of times it didn’t miss).
There’s a lottery held in front of executives from every team and also 14 (if I remember correctly) members of the media.
NBA isn’t WWE but it’s clearly closer to WWE than other sports
I’m gettin real tired of this rich assholes
Well, buckle up. It’s not getting any better and I have zero reason to think that trend would change.
Yeah, but I wish they could hide the greed a little more. Same with viewership. Everyone that I know who watches NBA just does it for the gambling.
Pretend you know me then. I watch for the love of my team. I couldn’t care less about gambling and I only watch Cavs games, or playoff games.
Oopsie poopsie
You’d think if you ask Adam Silver about a quote, you’d have the quote in front of you so when he lies to your face, you catch him on it instead of saying “got it.”
Adam: I might or might not have said that depending on the alignment of the sun, moon and the stars
“pluto was in retrograde when I appeared to have said that”…
I mean that’s if you’re an actual journalist. The Pablo thing has shown how many of these people are “access journalists” who really only exist to platform whatever their interviewee wants to say
Can’t believe I’m saying this but he’s worse than Stern. Or at the very least, just as bad.
He’s the worst commish in major sports.
I think he’s surpassed Manfred for that title now
PGA Tour commish who did a secret deal with LIV without telling a single player
As much hate as Roger Goodell gets, he’s been incredible for the NFL. Football has become the undisputed king during his tenure
become?
Goodell is by far the best at being the fall guy for the owners and controlling the narrative. The NFL has controversies too, yet despite being the biggest league in the country, the press usually moves on after a week at most.
The Sacramento A’s? Come on
It’s really simple guys: Before Payment | After Payment
Seriously, fuck all these rich bastards ruining everything
Payment of what lmao? Why in the world would he change his story like that after receiving a payment? Also from who did he get this payment that would want him to change his story like this? Who does this benefit?
I want everybody involved in this taken down as much as anybody but this upvoted comment makes no sense
I am not crazy! I know he lied about those endorsements. I knew it was $48 million. Twenty after Twenty eight . As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn’t prove it. He covered his tracks, he got that idiot at ESPN to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He’s done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to misspeak like that? No! He orchestrated it! Ballmer! He stroked two guys through a sunroof! And I believed him! And I shouldn’t have. I took him into my beloved league! What was I thinking? He’ll never change. He’ll never change! Ever since he was 51, always the same! Couldn’t keep his hands out of the gambling endorsements! But not our Adam! Couldn’t be precious Adam! Stealing them blind! And HE gets to be comssioner? What a sick joke! I should’ve stopped him when I had the chance! …And you, you have to stop him! You
this is amazing
well said Chuck
Ladies and gentleman… we got him
[deleted]
Do what the kid said.
They knew! And they let it happen!
Back back back back back back back back back
We knew it was bogus when he said it. Now he confirms it, but is trying to gaslight us into thinking it was all related to the allegations and not exactly what he said
Frankly, I never heard of the company Aspiration before
The “got it”, with absolutely zero follow-up or pushback, at the end really makes it.
Pablo just pinned tweet of the left clip
He is one interview away of saying “thats AI”
Absolute clown
Dude is busted
Prepping for a presidential run
Adam Silver’s job is to protect all the owners. He’s going to do whatever he can to protect the owners With that typed, gotta keep your lie straight, playboy
I know there’s a dogpile on Adam Silver right now but is there a chance he just forgot? I imagine he has hundreds of e-mails and meetings and it’s easy to forgot a company or two.
He could have just checked his email in between these two clips and realized he had talked in the past to Aspiration either directly or through other employees.
I feel like I’ve been in meetings at work and said I have no idea who the a person is and realized later that day I’ve been e-mailing them back and forth with them on a chain of e-mails with reply all.
I feel like this piece about Adam Silver is kinda overblown. He gains nothing from lying here so why assume it’s a lie?
In which case, he should say in his second interview “ ah yes, I went back to look at my past emails and, indeed, I was told about Aspiration and its deal with the Clippers. It’s been 3 years and I simply forgot.” Instead he chose to gaslight.
This man is ruining the nba
The thing is, words and actions have no consequences anymore, so people with money and power will never be held responsible.
Why does this matter at all
silvers a bum
If I said something wrong, I said it in the context of not being wrong.
Obviously.
What a psychopath.
I mostly like Silver but this is a really bad look for him. He looks like a buffoon.
Dumb post; not a gotcha.
You can be aware of a company and also have no idea about the inner workings of it.
It’s only a lie if you admit to it. If not, it’s people misunderstanding your taken-out-of-context words.
“It’s not a lie, if you believe it.” —Pope Barack Hussein Dwayne Scott Johnson
Did anyone really believe he meant he had no clue who gave the clippers half a billion dollars? Of course there was context to that comment.
Also, he works at the pleasure of the owners. If they don’t want him talking about it then he will obfuscate all day long. Yes he added context to the quote and that’s a perfectly reasonable answer to what he must have thought is obvious until the backlash showed up.
Adam “Donald Trump” Silver.
He is clearly lying.
Release the Epstein files!
Nosferatu be lyin
Bro needs to stop talking
This guy really, really needs to learn when to shut the fuck up.
Shit is embarrassing.
You have to question the motives of a commissioner who would lie about his own knowledge, and then lie again to try and cover his tracks
Adam Silver looks cartoonishly evil.
Like if Dracula and lex Luther had a baby
Clearly AI. Doesn’t even look like a real person
Henry Kissinger would be proud.
IMO he’s telling the truth in the first clip, he doesn’t know Apsiration like he knows Nike, Reebok, UnderArmour, DraftKings, Crypto.com, TD Bank… It’s not a famous brand.
But then he remembered or was reminded that the NBA approved Aspiration’s deal with the Clippers (worth 300 million over 23 years) and now it looks bad that the NBA is approving deal with brands the commissioner doesn’t even know or already forgot.
He wanted to deny it, but when the questions come, it’s hard to deny the truth. I like how the resolution is noted as if that matters one iota.
Does anyone else fucking hate this guy?
