OG is very present in the UK. Some of his family still live in the UK and he often runs basketball camps for the youth.

He said he is still open to playing and has had introductory talks with GB basketball.

It’s just a matter of things coming together (funding is likely the largest issue). I’m pretty certain he’d suit up if there was a commitment to+from our top players.

The reason his stock dropped if because the Jazz asked him to create, specifically off the dribble, and he wasnt great at it. Its not disparaging, its the case of roster construction. Steph needs a 2nd option who can also create their own shot, consistently, if not dictate the game’s pace.

A long time player and coach from the U.K. here……… Kids love basketball in the U.K. and the grass roots level really does good work and thrives. The standard of coaching and players, and effort of all the volunteers is something I’m always proud of. BUT the governing bodies in the U.K. ( or Great Britain which is what we play under) are very poor. Again, the effort by the individuals in the bodies cannot be knocked……. But there is no money invested in them. And when I say no money, it really is shockingly underfunded, considering I believe Basketball is the third most participated sport in England. Our pro league is a shambles due to outside ownership interests/conflicts which is destroying all the momentum it was gaining. GB players get very little support or insurance (from my understanding) when representing their country. GB are the only team who has no TV deal for their games!

It’s so frustrating but like I said at the grass roots to late teens the work that is being done is really good…… the final outlet just isn’t there!

The best thing that can happen to Utah, is if Lauri Markkanen can get back to the player he was his first 2 years in utah instead of the player he was last year. Utah then would be able to move his contract and it wouldn’t be a salary dump they can get real assets.because he is under contract and he is only 28 he would have real trade value again. And if Danny ainge is smart just take a good fair deal and stop trying to Overkill teams on trades.

Absolutely insane performance but jumping to him being one of the best international players is CRAZY.

He’s had a few really really elite games but lets be honest they were against horrible teams. Great Britain’s leading scorer was Luke Nelson of the Polish Basketball League, which not to slander him but he’s 30 and averaging 9.6 ppg in that league. The other crazy performance he had was against Poland who’s best player was Jordan Lloyd, a guy who’s best known for being in a picture wearing a suit instead of playing. It’s also a stark drop off after him
