It’s only “reduced” and not “less” so it is still okay. It results in 95% increased AoE if you include the nodes below it

They are ingrained in other passives. You might want the 3% increased max life, but your definitely don’t want increased armour break or whatever it is combined with

Dont think so. Hollow palm doesnt say that quarterstaff modifiers also apply to you. Only thing that it does is if your main hand and off hand are empty you can use skills with quarterstaff tag.
It says “attack as though using a quaterstaff” if you were using a quaterstaff the quaterstaff nodes would apply to you so it is only a reasonable gues that they apply to unarmed using hollow palm as well.

The point is that they only specify attacks and not anything else, so the quarterstaff tree probably won’t work, else they would use a different wording to make it so you’re treated as having one equipped at all times or something.

Not crazy versed in the poe terminology, but to me that sounds like it would definitely use the nodes? Especially if there’s 0 for unarmed , that wouldn’t make any sense

It means is an attack skill requires a quarterstaff, you can use that same skill unarmed.
Ahh that makes sense, even then I feel like it’ll include passives. Otherwise that is super misleading.
A safe bet with GGG is that unless it’s explicitly stated, then it doesn’t apply.
the “As though” wording has only showed up in one other place in the poe dictionaries iirc, and thats “Inflict Ailment as though dealing X% more damage” which is definitely a case of “pretend you did this much more damage for the hit” so “As though using a quarterstaff” if consistent, could be interpreted as “Pretend you were wielding a quarterstaff when you pressed the attack button” in which case nodes would scale it.
The wording that would definitively mean “doesn’t scale with quarterstaff nodes” would have been “Can use Quarterstaff skills while unarmed” or something along those lines.
Yeah, I really hope that’s how it’s handled, just the PTSD from previous failed league starts have me hesitant and don’t want anyone’s planned starters to feel bad either. But if you try it please let us know how it goes and good luck, may RNG bless all of us.
There’s never been very many weapon specific nodes, there’s plenty of attack, elemental, chaos nodes, etc…
The armor protection for ele damage just from the tree is higher than I was expecting. 11 points for 90% all, 60% all and 90% of 1 is 7 points.
also there are nodes to defend with 200% of armor against all hits and cirts

Same, 11 points is huge. I’ll see if how much normal armour and other benefits it gives but it seems really high for something that’s so low on my death list
This is poe 2, 11 points is absolutely not huge, people already were running out of things to put points into, and 11 points for a major source of defence is really not bad.

I played a banner tactician last season so refractive plating (20% armour applied to ele) and used the soul cores for armour to ele, with 70k armour. It was nice but nothing out of the ordinary, I still was dying mostly to - you guessed it - big physical hits. The only time where I felt that armour to ele vas useful was when I purposely tanked 3 fire comets, the ones you see coming from very far. And even then it was mostly my 86% fire red which took the hit.
The 2 major sources of more armour have been nerfed in 0.3 and to me there’s simply not enough use case for armour to ele, because the hits that kill you, those hits won’t be mitigated enough for it to matter to the point of investing 11 points in it imo. You’ll want enough to tank the ele DMG from mobs on maps but besides that it’s not that useful
Itd be pretty solid if small hits adding up was more of a threat.
I don’t think it’s bad at all, just not as good as evasion/ES.
If tactician can get legitimately good deflect odds, I think armor tactician will be strong as shit, especially since deflect doesn’t care about damage type and apparently will affect dots from hits.
Would tactician go to that side of the tree?

Tactician also gets “gain 20% of armor as deflection rating”, dont think hybrid armor/eva is still worth running but maybe it is on tactician?
I’m honestly feeling like the Tactician play is going up to Stay Light and stacking pure armor. If the enemy accuracy penalty is anything like the one that applies to players, it’s gonna be awesome against offscreening - even 3k deflect rating (from 15k armor) can get you 50% deflect chance if the enemy has a halved accuracy rating due to distance (and it can go to 90%).
More importantly, there are ways to increase the amount of damage prevented by deflection.
but based on the formula they shared, you ain’t ever capping deflection.
They showed a socketable with like 3% or something in the stream but there’s +9 on tree and +15 for crits. Pretty nice.

My guess is it’s a bug, it capped your evasion and armour effectiveness at 50%.
Deflection nodes seem to be relatively fair in stackability. With 124 total points, you’d be able to spec into damage, evasion/energy shield, and deflection comfortably.
They killed unnatural resilience and prism guard…..rip smith :/

Apparently they removed the +1% max fire res per 40% uncapped fire res notable on the bottom left side. Also you can easily get 60% armor applies to elemental dmg, with some additional ones that are elemental specific, one wheel for each element.
They also removed +1% all max res on enhanced barrier and gave it… nothing in return lmao.
If ele hit applies to armor before resistances…this is still completely useless. Ele hits are much bigger and your armor will do absolutely nothing to mitigate any of it lol

We already know that it is before. They clarified that in the ZiggyD interview. They were very clear on it being the “lesser” of the two calculations, which is also why people have lurkwarm expectations for it.

Yeah, but I guess we will have to see. No doubt it will feel nice against small hits, but the way it seems to most people, its going to suffer from the same thing that made armour not too appealing. But we will see.

Pick generic dmg nodes or dmg type specific ones. That still affects hollow palm. Only thing that very likely wont work are all the weapon specific nodes
Theres plenty of attack, elemental, chaos nodes, etc… there’s never been a lot of weapon specific nodes
Not sure, but a lot of nodes don’t have info on them yet so if you’re typing something in and nothing is coming up it may be because of that
I’d almost assuredly bet that + flat damage across gear is what GGG wants you to use to scale damage on hollow palm.
Why? There’s like one wheel for each weapon. Just get the same things you’d get for quarterstaff, minus the quarterstaff wheel.

Follow a guide until you get a handle on it. Towards endgame, start looking up different builds on poeninja and try to figure out why people did different things. Eventually you’ll get the options and basic concept. It’s a build up over time sort of thing.

I think Titan with Hulking Form got a hidden buff. A lot of warrior nodes seem to have spread power down to the small nodes.
The move speed cluster and the 2 clusters at the very bottom next to the stat stacker star will be insane stat value.
Quite a lot of infusion stuff on the tree, though half of the nodes don’t list an effect currently. Do at least have 10% chance to gain an additional infusion of the same type and 10% chance to not consume infusions on cast

Claws were poisoned themed, so not related to Druid. I think claws just got cut from the game for now.
Flails will release with Templar, Swords with Duelist, Axes with Marauder, Daggers with Shadow.

Watchtowers notable has lost it’s +1 to totems. Don’t believe this was mentioned in any of the patch notes or note updates..
There is now +1 melee attacks max totems and +1 ranged ballista max totems.

Banner nodes got gutted, bannerman now is 2 seconds on leaving aura, and they changed - gain 15% of valour when leaving to 15% to not consume valour (useless)

While all other starting nodes have at least one class in Early Access the STR/INT starting point has no class yet as both Templar and Druid are not in the game yet. Once they add them they will add node clusters for their class specific features.

Technically, yes, but you now also get your full weapon stats in demon form so its actually far more usable at a baseline.
