If we need to trade our future away I would honestly say no. JT & JB work together really well & giving that up might screw up our 3 ball system & by giving too much we screw over not only JB by sending him to Milwaukee but also screw up JTs potential too.

Giannis isn’t just a “all star big”, he’s a minimum top 3 player in the world, potentially this decade.

Unless Giannis becomes more injury prone, or has a big injury that ruins his athleticism then he is still easily worth every penny. Just two seasons ago people wanted to trade JB for anybody. There isn’t even a “future” anymore, it’s the present. KP, Kornet, Jrue, Horford- all gone. JB is 29 before the season starts.

There are teams like OKC, Houston, or San Antonio who can blow our offer out of the water. I doubt the Bucks trade him to a team in the east, too.

We would have to give up a lot to get him and with JT out next season, it’s not really worth hamstringing our future. Obviously any team should want Giannis; he’s one of the best of the 2020s.

I don’t think he is going to. Earlier in the offseason I said yes, that is one of the few scenarios I could justify it, and it would make some sense for the Bucks (we’re probably not the best situated for that trade but up there).

Honestly though, what I really want is for the Celtics to re-tool the offense a little for this season to hinge around Jaylen in something of a Jordan role and watch him prove all the doubters wrong. But of course Giannis I don’t think you can say no to.

Jaylen is a negative contract that we’re basically stuck with for the next 2 years. That’s fine because Tatum is going to need that to recover, and we can move Jaylen+ our lottery pick for an elite 2 when he’s expiring.

That said, Giannis is an MVP. He basically solves our biggest 2 problems immediately (guy who can rebound/defend well to take the load off of Tatum on that end, and an elite scorer and good passer next to Tatum that can be trusted to run an offense).

I’d honestly be over the moon if Brad solved one of them in exchange for Jaylen’s albatross.
