One of my best friends is a die hard Mavs fan and in our group chat me and the other homie are Laker fans. The three of us are still trying to process this trade because it dont make sense. We as Laker fans wasnt that excited about it but happy he’s a piece for now and the future. All of that is fine but the trade will always have this oddness to it that will never go away completely. Even as I think about it now its so damn weird that he with us.

I watched that man play on my team this year and had to do a double-take when I saw the post about his billboard in Dallas coz I naturally thought he was still a Maverick.

Still can’t believe he’s a Laker. As a fan, I always wanted him to be but never thought it would happen

Every few weeks I still go “wtf Luka is a Laker lmao” and I’ve seen him play as a Laker in the flesh

i remember it was so late that i was like “why tf am i getting an espn notification?” then read it was something about luka, “ok whatever just some buzz news.. anyways back to my movie” then got another notification and was like “bro wtf? ‘Luka trade details’ HUH!??” i literally had to go talk to someone i ran to my moms room at like 12:30pm and told her something she had zero context of who anyone was, but still listened.

Correct me if I am wrong, in my country, it was Feb 2, a Saturday. I was about to have my breakfast when I saw this photo, AD and Luka swapping places. I left a chuckle.

I was asleep, woke up and saw a bunch of notifications about it. At first I thought it was a joke, then when it became clear it wasn’t a joke, I - like most people probably - thought that Luka HAD to have demanded a trade be done right now and that deal was just there. All the details that came out about it have just made it all even more insane and fever dreamish.

I remember seeing something about it and thinking it was a joke, then going to ESPN and seeing the graphic with Davis in a Mavericks jersey and Doncic in a Lakers jersey and I couldn’t even process it, just seemed like a glitch at first.

On a chair. My mother was on the other side of the room and I went “WTF?!?!?!!” when looking at my phone in the morning (I’m in europe)

yup i was texting my girlfriend at the time (now ex unfortunately) and then once i got a bunch of notifications from espn i was like no way. i told her the situation and she was surprised even if she didn’t know much but due to me at the time showing her a bunch of his highlights bc i was showing her how he was my favorite non spurs player, she got the gist of how bad of a trade it was

and she’s a Lakers hater so she hated it more for me lmao

I was thrilled with our success without AD and with Max Christie’s emergence.

We were a second round exit at best though. We likely would have continued with Bron/AD until Bron retired, then traded AD, and then started rebuilding.

Since the Kobe era what has been the “fail upwards”? LeBron came & then brought AD but what other superstars in the last 10 years? We’re watching a league with superstars bouncing all over & joint other stars. Lakers have been pretty stagnant & no star is begging to play for.
