Literally anything that gets him off the books without costing picks or additional assets.

Personally I think they are going to hold him until the deadline and then look to move him. I think in the Mazzula system he is going to score a lot of points which then might lure some fringe playoff team into a trade that we like. There’s lots of teams that make foolish moves mid year to try to get closer to a second round exit.

Now that I’ve said that I’m sure he’ll be traded by the end of the week since any time I make a basketball take the opposite seems to happen.

My dream scenario would be include Simons and other assets to get a big that would be good enough to be our starter going forward. I realize we won’t get anyone amazing, but just someone solid that is clearly better than our 4 or 5 bigs that we have now. We are going to miss Al and Kornet this year, KP we kind of got used to not playing him. But with no Al and Kornet we are back to “give everyone a shot and hope somebody sticks.” Boucher was actually a really nice signing though (Brad doing his thing as usual), he is better than anyone I thought we would get on a cheap 1 year.

It doesn’t seem like there is much out there. 

Kuzma and Bucks ‘31 pick. Move Kuzma to the Porzingis trade exception and open up a 27M exception for 2026. They move under the 1st apron,  but still need to lose 7M to get under the tax. 

Thats the best I can come up with, and it means eating Kuzma’s salary. 

I’m busy so not gonna scroll through the list of bigs in the nba but… a good big of some kind would make this team interesting THIS YEAR. I daydream about a healthy Timelord someday.

What would I consider to be a good trade involving Anfernee Simons?

Any trade.

At this point I want to see him play. When it first happened people were excited. Let him play and see if he is any good.

He can be a good 6 man for us. He isn’t moving now but I could see the Celtics trading him for a cheaper contract at the deadline.

Zach Collins? I don’t know CHI’s tax/cap/apron situation, but the C’s save about $11m to swap expiring deals. If it’s enough to get the C’s below whatever threshold they want to get below, add all the seconds they own. It might even fill a talent gap for the C’s that permits them to make the playoffs - and get pick #19 rather than pay a tax and get #14.

I’m in the minority of wanting him to stay because of his shot creation with floor spacing could help us out

It would have to be an urgent play off team that needs a scoring guard. The magic come to mind if they decide to go all in but they just got bane so they wouldn’t do anything until the deadline.

I’d like to see him play a bit 1s. Has potential to be a scorer off the bench when JT returns and never know what the change in scenery might do for his defense. Hopefully case scenario is he doesn’t work out and we get 26M coming off the books next year

The hope is he starts the season hot. Another team has an injury or hole in the roster and needs a 6th man scorer. We offload him without giving up any picks. Maybe get a 2nd rounder back.

I think that whatever they do, they need to preserve the salary spot for the 26-27 team. I trust Brad to manage it correctly, but it’s going to be tough.

For me, the perfect outcome would be straight up for some kind of draft pick, and then we re-sign Al Horford while keeping our salary cap target.

Would honestly just hold him and try to re-sign him next summer. He’s going to end up getting paid less on his next deal. His archetype isn’t really getting big money on the open market, there aren’t a ton of teams with cap space and doesn’t have a ton of trade value.

He fits our team pretty well going forward too as a 3rd/4th option that can shoot 3s and create more off the dribble than some of the other options we’ve had. Jays and DWhite can help make up for his defensive inefficiencies.

Don’t think we can realistically replace him with something better.

If we could flip him in some combo to get Jalen Duran, that’d be unreal

Simons as salary + draft equity to get someone good & a good fit- ideally a big who can defend the rim & rebound. 

If The Goal is to get out of the luxury tax, I could see a trade at the deadline where he sent to Brooklyn in return for Mann. It sheds the $12M needed to duck the tax and keeps a salary slot for a future trade to find that center when they look to contend again.

Nic Clayton (Nets) in exchanger for Simons + a fair menagerie of draft picks. Not entirely sure how the salaries compare / match and I’m on my phone… without my dedicated readers 😉

His trade value is non existent. All we can hope for is he goes on a run to increase his value before the dead

Maybe in January, if Joan Beringer is awesome and Rob Dillingham is not the Wolves decide on future flexibility, Sam Hauser, and Simons as their PG instead of Rudy Gobert’s remaining years.

I don’t think we are getting a starting level big for him right now, so I would say someone like Collin Sexton who is similar to Simons, but at a lower salary and still an expiring.

One of the advantages to keeping Simons is that we can see if he is a fit on this team and then re-sign him if we want to. And re-signing him would come a lot cheaper than he is now. I doubt he gets any more than the Full MLE. If he is a good fit, then that is good value for a player of his caliber.

I don’t even need a return. I’d be happy straight dumping that guy.
