Do you think Joe Mazzulla adds wins to this season’s tally?

I’m not going to make this another expectation post from me. I still am optimistic about the C’s this season vs consensus. It feels like most analysts are down on this team, and the Celtics started at a 43.5 O/U and now it’s 41-42 so not much change, but we’ll see if we do things start trending down more notably as we approach training camp.

There is pessimism but one of the reasons I’m optimistic is because I believe in Mazzulla as a head coach. He’s going to truly be tested this season as the Celtics have on paper had the most/second most talented team in the game on paper the last two years. It’s not just JT’s injury that he’ll have to contend with this season, but there’s also the fact a significant portion of this rotation will be of guys who have very limited (or no) time as a full time rotation player in this association.

This team has less shooting than past seasons on paper as well although between Simons, Scheierman, Boucher/Hauser (whoever doesn’t start), Garza, there should be enough shooting off the bench to not totally sink offensively.

I wanna from hear from Celtics just how much impact you think Mazzulla will have on this season’s bottom line for the C’s this season if any. Do you think he’s a good enough coach to be a floor raiser on his own?

I personally think they’re going to go and try to get a championship but if anytime during the season someone else gets hurts then we definitely start trying to lose. I understand coaches don’t tank, front offices do but I think Mazzulla is the perfect kind of coach for this kind of team. I’m as excited as I ever been fr I think we got some real dogs on this team, it’s gonna take all of em.

i don’t think he adds wins because he’s a tinkerer and an explorer who will experiment a lot even if he knows it will lose him games.

his sights are on a horizon and he very much has a journey is as important as the destination mindset. if he thinks playing some weird player combo and style now despite losing will make the team better five months from now he’ll do it.

No, he’s a coach who got carried by talents like Doc Rivers. He ain’t that guy without his talents and y’all had the guts to compare this guy to the likes of Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Gregg Popovich. Y’all act like he won multiple championships when he’s not on that tier yet.

Our team didn’t change after the chip. We literally ran the same team back and got to watch Thibs out coach Joe.

yes. while I love Joe, do we love Doc? Was Doc Great? Could I have coached the 2008 team to a championship? Yes. I’m not a fan of JoeBall. Can he improve? Maybe. Did he last year? Not really. Joe Ball and end of game isos killed the Celtics. JoeBall killed this team in the playoffs, a couple of times. Do the Celtics win despite Joe? sometimes. Well fuck, already gave him an extension. We’ll see. I would like another coach. just like my opinion man

I’d love to eat my words and be wrong but yea. I definitely feel like the Celtics will overachieve, in the sense that most people don’t think they’ll be great, but the teams this organization have always built rely on dedication, hard work and some scrappiness. Will this be an indictment or prove me wrong is yet to be seen, but I’m pretty sure we will get some answers this year.

Dude the Celtics were injured at the worst time possible Brown partially torn meniscus jrue with a mallet finger injury on his shooting hand KP with whatever sickness he was dealing with them Tatum. And on top of that when the Celtics did lose the first 2 games was from historically bad shooting and they still lost by 1 basket. In no way was any of that on Mazzulla.

We lost to the Knicks in 1990 with a healthy Larry Bird, Robert Parish and Kevin McHale – in the first round, after leading the series 2-0. Shit happens. The idea that it’s Joe’s fault is only reasonable if your brain is made up of the confetti that the Sixers dropped during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semis in 2018.
