I don’t think he’s better than Huff but I dont think he’s worse either, just different types of players. Jock is a better pick and roll player and more physical. He’s a center and a center only. Jay wasn’t really a center in the sense of playing down low. Obviously he is a much better shooter though. I’m assuming Iisalo wanted a more traditional center going forward. Huff barely played in the playoffs.

Huff has a higher ceiling at his best as he’s randomly had rare dominant spurts throughout games, while Landale has a higher floor as a more consistenr, but mediocre traditional C.

I honestly think this slight improvement over Huff for the Grizz, but not because of 1-to-1 player comparisons and more because of what I expect Iisalo to implement as head coach. I think Landale’s skillset as a more traditional big is a better fit overall than Huff in their case.

I dont think this moves any needles tho, but they needed a big for reserves with Jaren and Edey out, and Huff really doesnt fit with what Ive read about Iisalo and what he tends to run.

He’s a mostly mediocre player, but he has shown some promise, as Ayton got benched for him at one point in the 2023 playoffs.

He can be a viable backup C, but he’s ideally a third stringer.
