MPJ was no longer a potential number 1 after the back injury. If it wasn’t for that injury he might still have gone #1 and led the league in scoring multiple times. That’s more like a Henry (Bill) Walker situation.

Cam’s fall and lack of being value might be a milder version of Chris Taft. But Cam has already shown that he can produce in the NBA. He needs to improve his defense and overall flow within a system, but I think he is going to do well in Washington.

There have been some good ones. Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis were projected top 15 picks but fell due to attitude issues and would easily go top 10 in their redraft.

The thing is when you list out those guys a lot already lost their hype come draft time. Perry Jones was hyped coming out of high school but after 2 college seasons, he wasn’t that high anymore. Skal was number 1 out of high school but based on how bad he was as a freshman, he didn’t deserve to be that high to begin with. Those were mostly performance issues but the attitude issues actually have good outcomes like Arenas.

Imo, it’s a tried and true story of a player overrating their ability.

Cam could be a smaller, supercharged version of MPJ and excel as a play finisher who feasts on C&S 3s and attacking closeouts.

But he obviously believes he’s got more to his game, and I just don’t see it. He doesn’t handle it all that well for a guard, doesn’t really create space for his own shot other than launching a deep 3 off a side step, and his passing vision is horrid, so if he did manage to become a credible self creator, he likely wouldn’t be able to leverage it into good offense for others.

Wish he would have bought into his role with the Rockets, but it may take a few more years before he gets it.

Well he’ll love chucking in DC at least. If it works out, he can get the bag. But I feel like Tre Johnson is more likely to grab that scorer role.

He’s limited as a dribbler and with OTD shooting. At least right now he’s mostly suited to a 3&D play finisher that can attack close outs, but he wants to play like a primary ball handler. He’ll definitely get more minutes in Washington, but I doubt coaches there will let him have his way playing however instead of a defined role with all the other talent there.

And then you had a few decent undrafted players, like Ricky Council IV and Craig Porter Jr.

So he probably goes around where he went in real life. I’d take at least 18 players above him if I wanted to win games, and you could make a case he would go even lower in a redraft.

In terms of pure upside, you could make a case for him above guys like Leonard Miller/Jaylen Clark/Strawther/Andre Jackson (I would) but he has shown very little signs of growth since college, so I don’t have a lot of hope for him
