Yeah your game has to evolve. If have perceived weaknesses…the greats put the work in…some train with others to add few things to their game. Footwork, post move or seeing the defense . LeBron studies every teams plays. Even tells opposing players to get in the right spot. You get older too so can’t rely on athletic ability as much..

It is safe to say that Bron did put a lot of work in every aspect of of the game. It seemed like after every post season he came back with a new move.

Dude just about nailed it. Only quibble is the lateral quickness bit… I’m old enough to remember LeBron in high school and that was never a concern. Was a question of defensive fundamentals (he never got down into a proper defensive stance until like his 2nd year in the league) rather than a physical limitation.

I feel like they were critiquing him like he was a guard and not 6’8” 240lbs forward with guard like skills. Sure his speed or lateral quickness wasn’t as good as Allen Iverson’s but if you compared him to other players at his size he was far ahead of them and obviously he only improved where like you said, was able to guard prime D Rose during his physical peak.

When I get basketball content on other social media, no matter what it’s actually about (like, say, the OKC championship) there’s still tons of comments somehow making it about hating LeBron. It’s just…incredibly sad, honestly, that so many people who watch this beautiful game don’t engage with it beyond hating one of the greats.

There are reasons. Like the decision, the celebration in Miami before having won anything, the flopping (although it’s a league wide issue), Space Jam.

He looked like a 5 year vet Andrew Wiggins when Bron was 18. But you could see his frame would fill out easily.

After reading about his strengths you can just tell writing the weaknesses was just a formality. As perfect of a high school player as LBJ was already at that point, they just had to write something up just in case that 0.1% he turns into a bust. The scouts knew they were looking at a generational talent.

There was an article in his second stint in Cleveland about him changing his free-throw routine all the time.

The lateral quickness concern on him wasn’t talked about a lot but it’s (preparing for downvotes) partially true. Even if it means he’s ⁹⁄₁₀ there instead of ¹⁰⁄₁₀. But he’s always been a better help defender than on-ball defender.
