1000%, what’s wild is in the NHL, at the trade deadline, every team is looking for that veteran who can win face-offs play defense to match up against the other team’s stars and antagonize the shit out of them and throw them off of their game.

And teams will overpay for that player every time. I am not at all surprised he’s Canadian, he knows exactly what’s up with his game and how valuable it is. He’s a type of player, everybody hates his ass, but if he plays for your squad, you absolutely love him.

I credit Brooks for a lot of the hard nose defense everyone was playing last year. Hard not to give effort when you’re playing with him. He helped build the culture

It’s offseason so people are back to being mostly reasonable, Brooks is definitely going to be missed more in the vacuum of this trade over Green.

I’ve seen people discuss how Green will be sorely missed and that losing your lead scorer is nothing to sneeze at but it’s overstated when he was jacking up an average of 17.5 FGA per game. With KD those shots found their home, with him out you can smooth them out over the many mouths on the Rockets without worrying “is Green hot or cold tonight?”

While this article sucks, I think getting Green, Maluach, Fleming, and Brooks ended up being a better haul than I expected. They got lucky with Maluach and Fleming dropping. They still got a bunch of other seconds (which prob won’t amount to shit).

But flip Brooks and one of your shooting guards and it is a good start imo

He is still an absolute bucket, but he will need to be used differently than he was in phoenix in my opinion. His agility on offense has gone down drastically since Brooklyn so he can’t initiate from the post and get to the basket anymore. So teams have figured out you can send two at him and capitalize on his worst trait which is passing and turnovers. I think at this point of his career he needs to be a play finisher and not a play initiator anymore

Oh I agree lol, I think he’s probably going to be a perfect fit and would have them 2nd or 3rd in the west next year. But at his age, you never know which year will be the one where he quite doesn’t look like KD anymore. But yea regardless of that, they didn’t even give up any of their real trade assets, so it’s literally a zero risk 100% profit move.

Offense is literally the only thing Houston is missing, even if he’s a negative on defense (he won’t be) they have the talent to make up for it. So silly to think Phoenix is fleecing anyone. I don’t think he’s regressed, his defense has improved a ton and I’d put him at above average. He was asked to be the #1 option on offense and is just not ready for it, teams are able to scheme him out of the game relatively easily.

I could see him doing well with an actual PG. But yeah, he hasn’t shown as much improvement offensively as we would have liked, has not been improving at the same rate as our other guys.
