He’s not a ball handler so I wouldn’t say he should dominate the tournament. That’s exactly what got him in trouble last year. He should dominate defensively. He’ll never be good enough offensively if he’s not producing at an all defensive level. We need to start seeing that from the player who was supposed to be the best defensive player in his draft class.

He’s 21, I give him another 2 years.

This is the same treatment with most of our young guys, including JD Davison, Baylor, Queta, and more. We need to know who can contribute or not when we’re back seriously competing again. Yhis gap year is going to show alot about our team from the cosching and development of our young players. Walsh don’t need to be overly dominate, just hit threes at a good clip, play decent defense, and be able to handle the ball well. Hopefully, over the season, we’ll see him and any other player with an opportunity get better.

The other thing about Walsh’s future, is it sounds like Hugo is a better version of him. So, if Walsh doesn’t start showing flashes of something, then we might have a better version of him ready to go. It sucks, but we’re just at that stage where we gotta see something that tells us he can develop into an NBA role player. We haven’t seen it, but he was extremely raw coming in, we all knew it. We all knew not to expect much progress, and if there was, it was going to be ahead of schedule/miraculous. But, we’re at the point in the project where we need to see some advancement or it’s coming time to cancel the project altogether. It’s now that we need to find out.

We still are up against the 2nd apron, which means someone kind of has to go and I’m pretty sure Walsh’s contract is not fully guaranteed so we can walk away from it, especially if we’re seeing that Hugo is already where Walsh is at right from the start.

Walsh is cheeks man, time to give up the ghost on this one.

Maybe he plays overseas and figures out how to play ball 5-7 years from now, but it’s not happening in a C’s uniform.

Honestly, with JT out we should feel out the first few weeks. Realize we are getting absolutely nowhere this year. And then rotate the young guys in frequently. Let them get good tutelage under JB, DWhite and PP. then when JT is back and we’ve used our tank year on Oscar Wemby… then we should have some strong rotational pieces.

I expect him to play good defense without committing silly reach in fouls, be an energy guy, and be a respectable outside shooter. His game is suited to being a complimentary glue guy. I don’t see him ever exploding on offense.

There’s a clear path to playing time for Walsh and he better seize it or he’s gonna be how we get (back) under the 2nd apron. He’s non-guaranteed. He or Davsion could go. But Davsion’s guaranteed date is in January; Walsh’s is opening night.

He needs to play his best, in SL and in camp. Or he’s cut before real games are played.

That said, Walsh can be the defensive half of a time share with Anfernee Simons, and make sure Simons and Pritchard never play together. 15-24 minutes of defense and hustle and back door cuts.

That’s HUGO’s music! Walsh has to beat Hugo in SL and camp, or he’s cut. If he does, Hugo spends a few months in Maine working on his shooting while Walsh provides defensive depth minutes.

Walsh can make the team and play a role. But he needs to impress. Or he’s an easy cut at the end of camp.

I always thought given the chance he could end up as a nice replacement to Grant Williams. He’s proven to be able to play D and grab rebounds in his limited play. I’d like to see him be more consistent with 3 ball this season. I agree though this feels like his season to either ball or fall. I’m hoping for the former.

His ceiling is Brissett. Yes, ceiling.

The runway is clear for him to seize a rotation spot. We will see.

Very few guys, especially back of the rotation players show anything before 21. Tough thing is his progress hasn’t been linear- he was more confident offensively as a rookie than he was last year. But you never know when a leap could happen. May take a few more years.

If he can develop a three point shot shooting 37-38% he will play for over a decade in the league.
