OK, NOW where is our free agent/off-season tracker? Shit seems to be going off already…

I’m honestly looking forward to Mavs vs Lakers. It’s going to be so spicy with new flame vs old.
I’m doing the whole thing again with Flagg just to get my heart broken again.
What if after losing in the 06 Finals the Dallas Mavericks midway through the 06-07 season traded Dirk Nowitzki to the Detroit Pistons for Rasheed Wallace, Carlos Delfino, and a 1st round pick. For hypothetical reasons, in this timeline they kept Nash somehow. Nash tears his ACL halfway through that same season and Rasheed injures himself through 3 quarters of his first game with the team. They end up missing the playoffs as the #10 seed. The odds are slim but they miraculously win the draft lottery. They take Kevin Durant out of Texas with the number 1 pick.
Number 1 pick getting drafted into this much talent is crazy…Mavs literally have 3 HOFs lol. When does that happen?
I wish I had your optimism. But I do appreciate it.
When theyre all at the twilight of their careers lol

They need more shooting but I like their size.
Super young core, I’m personally a fan of Coby/Giddey/Buzelis.
Essengue seems more raw than Buzelis was last year, so expect him to play primarily in G league the first half of this year.
Vuc is the obvious outlier, need to replace him with a defensive anchor/lob threat
Promising young core.
They need to trade the vets and also Coby because he’s noticeably older and not an ideal fit with his age. He probably wants to contend now. I think him on the Kings could make sense if they want to contend.
They should let the other guys develop.
See which, if any, are worth building around and keep the other guys as supporting casts or look to trade them before their value gets too low, or if it’s low, let them walk.
Not sure why it only got spotlighted this year, but making players wear another team’s hat that traded the pick is so stupid.
Confused the hell out of me to see the ESPN app saying the Rockets picked 10th then talking about how this was good for the sun’s.
Just associate the pick with whoever is actually getting the player.
The production of this whole thing was ass
I’m still incredibly frustrated our FO turned the 31st pick into Rocco and some worthless seconds. I understand the roster and cap implications but a good FO should be able to figure it out when so many talented players are still available.
And we helped conference rivals get high upside players. If we had to trade, we couldn’t send those picks to the East?
In regard to the roster being “full” - you can’t tell me that Josh Minott is worth keeping over anyone picked 31-36.
Can’t believe we gave up a second round pick for something and worthless as multiple second round picks.
Yeah it’s strange after A-Rod and Lore took over.
Phoenix trade made some sense and there were still good players at 36 namely the one they gave to lakers. giving up that pick for just cash feels short sighted
I can certainly see a case for the Phoenix trade, even if I disagree with it. The Lakers trade feels like a lazy move at best, and a bad look for the new ownership group at worst.
So what is the exact rules/reasons teams can’t trade after 2pm or whatever the time is. Why cant team on the clock trade the pick like NFL does. So confusing to watch this. 😂
Aussies named Toohey and Furphy in the NBA. Classic.
Well one more draft passed and still I haven’t seen coming the next really great SG after MJ and Kobe.
That’s next year with Peterson
Darryn Peterson. I like from the little I watched. Still I don’t know if he has the athleticism to do the unreal reverse lay ups and circus shots which MJ did especially at the late 80’s early 90’s
PG/Sg means nothing. It’s on ball or off ball at this point. Is SGA any different than MJ or Kobe?
Not he is not close to them. His less athletic and his post game is not close to them. He is not even close as a defender to them. He is not cluth like them. He has not the same shooting style like them. Similar but not same. He has not the aura of them. He is just as good as ball handler like them.
Kobe modeled his game after MJ. It’s the modern era also so gone are the days of the midrange mostly. Sounds like you’re expecting an MJ carbon copy to pop up talking about stuff like shooting style lol. Rules have changed so you can’t defend the same way.
I mean, SGA does basically the same stuff MJ did even if he’s called a PG
Really? Have you ever watched Michael Jordan? Have you ever watched 88-93 MJ or even 95-98 MJ?
I’m not saying he’s as good, I’m saying he’s essentially a SG and therefore is the next great SG
Steph is technically a PG but plays like a SG
He’s already here.
Not even close
Devin Booker been here
Is this a joke? I said MJ and Kobe. Devin who? A talent like MJ and Kobe unfo didn’t exist yet
Really optimistic about our draft this year.
I didn’t think we’d reach for Kon at 4 but I went into the draft thinking he’d be one of the best players when all is said and done.
Mcneeley was a huge recruit out of high school who I thought showed a lot of flashes at UCONN and fits the NBA well right now so I think he’s a steal at 29.
Sion could be a really solid role player.
I don’t know much about the Creighton big but we needed one and he was productive.
I think these pieces will help Ball and Miller a lot. We should be plucky next year. Could be one of the best young teams in the league. Almost every key player is under 24 and I’m stoked about it
Creighton big played in drop coverage all 4 years and mostly stood in the paint don’t know how he’ll handle nba offensive schemes
Yang Gang we here
I believe Amari Williams was drafted during an ad break, so by draft rules he is the next Nikola Jokic.
They extended the draft to two days and STILL players were drafted during ad breaks? What a joke.
If I had a dime for every european big that’s an excellent passer who got drafted during an ad break in the 2nd round…
He is
the rich get richer
I can’t be the only one who thinks ESPN’s draft coverage this year was absolutely horrible. Spending 20 minutes covering Flagg then pretty much segmenting to “oh yeah, the Spurs drafted Dylan Harper, now back to Flagg,” that alone told me what we were getting this year.
It was fucking atrocious i was so fed up with the shouting that i watched the rest of the draft on mute
It makes more sense when you realize the majority of ESPN viewers are in airports, restaurants and bars.
by espn nba draft standards, it felt fine. the bar is so low for their coverage.
I can’t be the only one who thinks ESPNs draft coverage this year was absolutely horrible
Adou Thiero seems like such a freaking steal for the Lakers, and they traded up like 20 spots solely for cash
I’m still so fucking incensed we picked Broome
OK we are going to develop this Taelon Peter into an All-Star in the future.
My Suns kinda cooked this draft not gonna lie. I think we’ll be fun to watch next year, hoping we bring back CP3 as a bench option
Interesting variety of nationalities in this year’s draft board. Never thought I’d see an English player on the list, congrats to him.
Proud of the four Aussies who got drafted today.
> Moncia McNutt
stoked with spurs draft to be able to draft harper and then get with a bit of luck Bryant at number 14 pick in the draft as well. awesome to see 4 Aussie players get drafted as well .
FYI I’ve got a roster tracker here. I’d like some people to look it over to see if everything looks correct for their favorite teams after the draft.
I’d consider Blake Wesley more of a PG than SG, though of course positions don’t matter these days nearly what they used to.
Micic has already signed with an overseas team. Hornets are waiving him asap
Celtics is accurate
Winner: Australia
Awesome to see 4 Aussies get drafted, hopefully they get a chance to contribute.
Hope Rocco can find his way into the Wolves rotation in a year or 2. Between Flagg and Wemby and all the other generational big men running around we’re gonna need him!
Yeah i can see Rocco having a role in his second year.
Out of all 4 i believe that Proctor and Toohey have the highest chance of making a contribution in their 1st season.
Dixon not getting drafted is criminal. Especially for teams like the Knicks reaching down taking an 80+ projected pick w 5ppg. Dude was the leading scorer in all of college basketball and would fit right in with the Nova guys
Hope he is a rotational NBA player. Love the Thiero and Dixon picks.
Add Dink Pate to the list of players that Adam Silver owes an apology to for lying that the G League route would be better than going to college.
An apology + millions of dollars in lost income
He’s made quite a bit of money with his G-League contract (supposedly) and that Reebok contract. It’s also very possible he struggles in college too, that happens every year. I know guys who opt to the G-League instead of college isn’t looking great, but it’s still a small sample size all things considered.
Why did RJ Luis declare for the draft lmao
Came here for this
@GoodmanHoops
One guy that probably should have done another year in college is former St. John’s forward RJ Luis. Went undrafted - and could have commanded at least 2 million on the NIL market.
One guy that probably should have done another year in college is former St. John’s forward RJ Luis.

He’s broke. And unemployed.
He rage quit college basketball for no reason
well the reason was he got benched in the most important game of the year lol
Could have made bank in the portal though.
Pelicans and Nets really looking like losers.
At the same time I’m rooting for their players to work out bc if they do hit they’ll be really fun, entertaining characters in the NBA
Pels simultaneously got great value at 13 while also coming out as a loser. Trading an unprotected first for the next season is just bonkers. If they had more of a rounded roster, I’d be confident but they have literally no identity right now with that roster
It’s not great value at all when it cost what it did. Plus there’s a pretty good chance the player they got ends up a bad pick. A C with limited range size and athleticism and will never be a rim protector? He’s smooth moving and has shown flashes of touch but it’s incredibly rare to be great as a non paint defending big. For that trade to be great value he would need to be the new Jokic. He’s already thick too so not sure how well he’s going to age.
Hes sengun 2.0
No bigs have had success after a combine like him and I think Queen is at best a Sabonis lite type player. He’s not a guy you trade unprotected 1st for. How is an unathletic big with no range or rim protection going to work out? Even if he is Sengun or Sabonis 2.0, building a winning team around guys like that is hard. That archetype is best served as a 2nd unit piece. Not to mention that’s a terrible fit with Fears and Zion. There’s a very real chance that pick ends up high lottery and they end up missing out on what looks like a much better top of draft next year
That pick will end up in the 18-24 range
It’s a best of Nola-Bucks pick. If Giannis is traded/ hurt? No way. The pels also likely taking a step back and Zion has shown 0 ability to stay on the floor. If Zion is out you’re looking at Fears Queen and Poole sharing a court lol. That’s a terrible defense with 2 guys offering no spacing. I think it’s more likely they pick high again than not.
Giannis won’t be traded and east is easier this year than last when the bucks were fifth seed
Pels when fully healthy with zion missing games were the 8th seed
Poole is a slight downgrade from CJ. He’s inefficient and worse defensively. They were a 21 win team however you want to spin it and their best player has played 30 or less games in 4⁄6 seasons. Their 2 bigs are terrible fits with Zion and the Pg they just drafted will be a liability on defense and has no range so not a great Zion fit either.
The west is brutal and that team isn’t very good if fully healthy. Teams usually play top 10 picks a good amount and they seem to love Queen. Youth heavy teams usually struggle. There’s very little to suggest it’s more likely they’re a playoff team instead of a high lottery pick. And the Bucks are basically just Giannis after Dame got hurt. If he misses any extended time that team is fighting for worst record.
Two guys who need the ball in their hands to contribute and absolutely will struggle to adjust to the NBA immediately as well… I feel like they just gave away a top 10 pick for no reason
I don’t think fears is bad. His FT% suggest there’s a good shooter in there. He was elite drawing fouls and getting to the rim as well. It’s a bad fit if they can’t figure out what’s wrong with the jumper though between Zion, Herb and Queen also being there.
I don’t think Fears is bad, but god do I hate that pick for the Pels.
My Hornets actually cooked I can’t believe it
Loved the value on the final 3 picks. Excited for summer league too, they’ll all play together
I still have zero idea what your plan is Lamelo wise but hopefully they are back to league pass darlings again
The picks to me indicate they are keeping him.
Surrounding him and Brandon with tough, hardworking, connective pieces seems like the idea.
I think if you were moving off of him, you probably swing for Tre or Ace.
Think they just wanted a safer pick with day 1 impact potential. East wide open and they swung high last draft.
I’d move on from Melo just for health reasons. Not only him but his brother showed the same. Family just not built for dependability. No idea what a useful return would be player wise though. Convince Suns to go youth and swap Booker for Melo even though Booker not a great passer? Kind of need playmaker back unless you’re comfortable sliding Kon to 3 and Miller to 4 and then finding a PG somewhere so Booker can stay at the 2.
[deleted]
Is he a good big?
Bro he’s amazing. Was college basketball points leader as a center. Has a nice touch from 3, great post moves, bullies down low. His footwork/fundamentals legit sooo good
Julius Randle 2.0
Nuggets clearly won this draft
Who did the Lakers draft?
Now i hope Heat will trade Wiggins to Lakers and ask for Adou, he is a real deal
Adou Thiero at 36, right? Hyper athletic wing that can’t shoot. Project player but tons of upside
Not that much of a project the only project is his shooting
Great defensively, dunk in traffic, and can catch lobs. If he can work on the shooting we are cooking lol. But until that low min rotational player this season but I do see him being used consistently in certain situations.
Now we wait for summer league?
The California classic will take place first.
Idk y the heat r in that but I’m always thankful every year
Is kel el playing this year?
Yep but probably only a couple games
Everyone got some massive steals this draft
Winners:
Losers:
The production of the second round was one of the worst lowest effort productions I’ve ever watched. And that’s saying a lot because it was an ESPN production. This network legitimately does not care about the sport at all. The decision to do the 2nd round on a different day without the full crowd was a complete disaster that made the entire show awkward. I actually liked the panel, though. It’s too bad they didn’t get to the ABC show yesterday.
Perhaps we shall be rueing this day 10 years from now…when we recall how the new superstar of the sport was picked during, like, an Arby’s commercial lol
surprised Tamar Bates, Sion James and to a lesser extent Ryan Nembhard went undrafted
Edit: totally missed sion James going to the hornets, great pickup for them
Not surprised on Dixon?
For sure, I had him mocked in the middle of the 2nd round
Sion James went early 2nd, no?
Sion James was drafted though
sion james was the 33rd pick
Didn’t Sion James go 33
Charlotte took Sion with #33?
hornets drafted sion
Nembhard had to have gotten a promise right?
Pacers gotten sign him to a two Way…. Right? Gotta get baby nemby a chance….
Sion James went #33 to Charlotte
Missed that completely my bad
anyone in the green room was left out ?
all 25 were drafted
Best undrafted?
ERIC DIXON
He’s not the best, but I wanna see someone pick up zakai Ziegler, yeah he’s only 5’8” but was a 2 time defensive player of the year in the SEC
5’8 guys who are mediocre shooters usually don’t make it in the NBA regardless of how good they are at everything else.
Defensive poty? Interesting
Flagg didn’t fall as far as I hoped, but thrilled to have landed Bogoljub
Biggest winner: Atlanta
- Spurs
- Suns
- Heat
- Pelicans
- Nets
yeah i love our picks + mark williams. we needed this
Pelicans man. I can’t help but feel bad for em
