I’ve recently got to end game and have been buying gear to get ready for maps. Most armor cost a single Exalted for a decent rare peace of gear then I go to buy boots and they are a couple Exalted for a common pair? I thought maybe it was only certain commons but Elegant, Lionheart and Vaal greaves all cost around the same price.

Because a good helmet needs life and 3x attributes/resists to be good.

Boots needs life, movement speed and 3x attributes/resists to be good.

Getting one more super specific stat to roll on top of the other requirements other gear also have means that there are probably 20-30 times less of these items on the market, hence the price.

Boots are also almost always rare on every build (93% of builds use rare boots) while other gearslots are sometimes replaced with a unique, so there is less demand for good rares in those slots.

Once you get further along the trend reverses. Boots with 35 move speed and great stats usually go for 1 div while helmets and bodies with great stats go for 10 divs

Buy stuff that is cheap in the beginning of season and will be expensive later. Don’t overhoard, also upgrade your cha accordingly. Nothing worse than sitting on divs but your char cannot clear.

No they’re not. 35 ms boots with 20+ item rarity and 30+ double resists go for 1 div and oftentimes even less. 100 exalts or sometimes even 50 exalts. You can check yourself. If they have chaos resist they’re more, sometimes 2-4 divs but even then you can easily find a few that are only 1 div with a little patience.

They are not very valuable at all. But it’s possible that we have different definitions of what “really good stats” are. I consider 35 ms boots with 20+ item rarity and 30+ on two resistances to be really good stats and those sell for really cheap 1 div or less. If you’re thinking something like 300+ energy shield 35 ms boots then yes those are super expensive but I would consider those to be insane boots and not merely “great stats”

In essence. They have 1 mod they HAVE to have. (This assumes perfectly equal weight for ease to showcase the point)

So of the 6 prefixes for 3 slots, 1 is taken. So we have room for ²⁄₅ remaining. Vs the normal ³⁄₆. Of those, typically people dont want stun threshold%. Down to ²⁄₄. So we’re left with life. Mana. Flat def, and % def. So that means of the rough 50% of boots with the prefixes we all need, another 50% at least won’t be the combination of prefixes we want with it. So that leaves 25% for a given person, on the prefixes, before adjusting for Tiers. Since we all want 30% move. On that mod alone. That’s a drop of 83.3% of remaining bases. Maybe only 66.6% if we will accept 25%.

All this, and we havent even touched the Base (armor sucks. That’s half the bases) not have we touched the 10-11 suffixes, nor their ties. Afterall. What good is a top tier prefixes and t1 suffixes?

Boots in the only slot where it’s all about rare items. Boots is the only slot where you need at least 25% movement speed or the item will not be used.

That’s why. Everyone wants and uses the same items. Makes them expensive

Because of the Movement Speed stat. Every class and ascendency needs thats stat, so it’s highly sought after. So boots with Movement + resistences are “prime real estate”

Commons are selling for 5 exalted. Which may not seem like a lot to people that have been playing since the start of the league but it’s a lot for me.
