Me too. I don’t understand why we can’t have it for inventory either.
Not to be that guy but I think it’s actually appropriate here to look at LE since their endgame, similar to POE2, involves collecting a lot of bases for a recomb-esque type of system.
And this process is extremely streamlined because of 1) stash tab affinities being very specific / customizable and 2) the sort button
Definitely think they should add sort. But also think they should expand on their affinities. POE is the more complex game but our tabs are pretty rudimentary.

There won’t be. Have you seen a stash tabs for gems? That’s GGG’s most modern implementation of sorting.
I am still fascinated by the support gems just chilling in the same slots as skill gems.
I hope at least the uncut will be stackable once 1.0 comes out
You can use regex in search field and it also has some tags, one of them is ilvl, if you want for example to show all ilvl 80 items just type ilvl:80, if it’s a request with spaces in it you need to use double quotes like “item level: ([0-6][0-9]|7[0-5])” to show all items with ilvl<=75 or “increased quantity” to show all waystones with inc quant mod, also you can search by mod tier names, for example flaring will show all weapons with t9 flat phys.

You can use VBA in Excel aswell. But i’m quite sure you prefer using preinstalled functions for convenience
It would be nice to have some basic filtering for convinience, at least basic things like ilvl, rarity, quality, but it’s probably at the lowest level of importance especially how hard is going all this ea stuff with missed timeframe estimation.
Since they are adding QOL like instant crafting for strongboxes i don’t see your point that it is lowlevel of importance to add QOL.
Filtering and sorting stuff isn’t a new kind of magic in the gaming world. In a lot of RPGs it is basically state of the art regarding inventory management.
I think it is just not yet implemented because people aren’t vocal enough about it
I feel like this is something poe 1 players have been complaining about for centuries. You’d think autosort would already be a feature. It’s probably not for friction reasons lol.

You really only need 1 or two good rolls of each charm imo. I mean , I don’t see the use for more 🤷 Now, there’s about a hundred other things I’d love to sort with a button for sure. Maps, tablets, related currency being a notable few
Wish granted. Silverfists’ paw curls up your hole, announcing stash tab with sort function, with option to upgrade existing tabs.
Last epoch just added regex, but they actually included tags for lvl etc so you can properly do search by level etc, I hope ggg follows
