I do the make rare part. Not had a single divine drop. I guess I should corrupt as well. Where are my damn divines, I’m running dry.
i open about 1 researcher per 1.5 maps and ive never hit a div, but i usually (every 2-3 boxes) get 1-3 chaos so its quite worth it

Fr those boxes are crazy good, I have all nodes on boxes and shrines while ignoring league mechanics completely, I’m making way more currency this way
I think the only league mechanic worth it is ritual if you really invest into it for like 10+ rerolls per map, expedition is ok if you use the big bomb, breach is meh (and picking splinters is a big time loss), delirium doesn’t exist bcs ppl just instill maps

I got 100% delirious with rarity and quant once and bro that shit was insane, I’m sad that the tablets I used weren’t that good but it still dropped so much loot
How do you get a map 100% delirious?
It dropped that way, I think you can use expensive emotions but it’s not worth it doing it yourself
I run rituals with guilt delirius maps so get +%24 more pack size and farm splinters on the side. Though I never had the chance to spend all my 10+ rerolls, almost never seem to have enough tributes to go through that.
Do you use tablets with % refuced tribute to reroll? You stack them and get rerolled dirty cheap
I prioritize tablets with additional reroll and % omen chance, usually use 1 reroll, 1 omen chance and 1 irradiation (to guarantee every map I run is at least lv80). So unfortunately no.

On the atlas skill tree you can spec for more and you can also spec into 100% more chance for researchers strongboxes. I get roughly 1.5-2 per map. I always fully exalt and vaal. Ive had 4 Divs. I feel like its worth it.
Does the box need to be corrupted? I tried to vaal some researcher boxes but see nothing change, only a “corrupted” line appear.
Yeah I think it doesn’t really change the modifiers but no harm in corrupting researchers as it’s just currency.
I don’t really corrupt since you may get an insane item drop and then you can’t socket, quality or slam it further
That’s why I said researcher’s strongbox as it only drops currency and not gear. Any other strongbox you might not wanna corrupt it.
I was you until yesterday when I decided to get more item rarity on my gear, found two perfects, 3 divine and a trampltoe from strongboxes since.
I don’t think your gear affects anything with strongbox loot. Don’t think map modes do either.
Definitely does something as my loot drops on everything have improved greatly and that was my only change. Could be coincidence but I am sticking with it

Feels like I always go even on researchers fully exalting them. I guess that’s good because it you high roll you’ll be up on currency.
I exalt until I get rarity and item quantity on the box or I cry if I get neither.

What does corrupting the box do? I thought corrupting strongboxes corrupted all the contents.
Vaaling non researchers does corrupt the drops. Which to me, you are trying to RNG on top of RNG. You are hoping an item or jewel or whatever drops, with good rolls, with socket(s) AND hoping the corruption gives a good mod on top of all that.
In my experience, most of the time vaaling bricks all the non-currency drops for me.
Can’t corrupt currency though.

For anything else, yeah I would avoid corrupting. You can end up getting a godly 4 or 5 suffix rare that is corrupted which is feelsbadman

I think he meant quantity. Quality does nothing to currencies. In fact, you should value rarity more as it increases the chance of getting higher-value currencies.

Quality is only decent if you’re low on smithing scraps and whetstone things, because rolling that on an armorers or smiths strongbox can be like 10-15 of those and that’s not bad
I usually just throw an alch at the strongbox and hope it rolls quantity and rarity, guarded by rares isn’t bad either, type of box doesn’t concern me but researchers might get exalts from me if the alch doesn’t give anything good
Well tbf, getting quality on an armorers chest is good imo, you can easily get 10+ scraps with scraps valued around 1ex each

what does corrupting do for research strongboxes? small chance to get higher mod rolls or anything else?
I spec’d completely into strongboxes and researchers specifically and sometimes I get 2 in the same map. I’m not exactly sure, however I get the general feeling that after I started corrupting them they started dropping more vaal and chaos orbs. This is the first time it’s ever dropped a div and for some reason it decided to give me 2 I’m not complaining.
Have you seen the unique gamba box while your atlas is setup like that?

I don’t know exactly what it does, however since I started corrupting my boxes I believe on average I get more vaal and chaos orb drops than the occaisonal exalt. This is the first time it dropped me a divine and for some reason it gave me 2!

Can you apply currency from your storage on the strongbox or do yiu have to have it with you in your inventory while in a map?
You have to use it from your inventory. But you can just portal back to camp to get it!
i usually kept a stack of “strongbox” currencies on me the entire time.
odds are i would keep them maxed from simply doing maps.
basically, i reserve a column in the inventory to stuff i want on me the entire time (scroll, omen, alchemy orb).
Would be a good QoL if they implemented the usage of your stash since in the endgame you basically only have 1 portal per per map. I wish we’d get back 6 portals.
you don’t use up any portals if you’re just tping back and forth to your hideout. you only lose a portal if you die
No portals only get used if you die. You can freely leave the map and come back as many times as you like, but I just keep a stack of regals, alchemys and exalts in my pack.
That restriction was changed in .2, as others said, you only lose the ability to tp if you fail the map, going back to vendor/stash stuff doesn’t use up portals anymore, they’re merely a visual representation of how many times you can die at this point, idek if it changes when you do die

This is my first league and I’m starting to carry around currency while I map so I can lazy craft and mess around with stuff I find rather than taking it back to the hideout so I leave all the orbs turned on. I use them all. I find bases and just start using orbs maybe something will come of it you never know!
Augs and ruins this league are so annoying. last league I just had a standard never sink but now I’m on that uber strict because after a few 100 hours that just gets old. If I run low on Aug’s and Alc’s they’re really cheap but I’ve haven’t had to get any yet.

Oh that’s what made me the saddest originally is I thought my spec 100% chance for researchers meant the unique one, however it just provides more often it’s the currency box. I’ve ran into several uniques but you’re right it’s been a while since I gamba and I’m up to 4mil coins for now ahaha

Vaal orbs are the only currency I’m always running low on, I use them on so many of my maps fishing for t16 or 10 mod maps.

I said it a few other places as well but honestly I don’t know for sure. I can tell you since I started corrupting all my boxes they seem to be giving me more chaos and vaal orbs. This was the first Divine it gave me and it gave me 2!

Selection bias at its best. Since 0.1, I have juiced 100+ strong boxes with 0 divine drops with 100%+ rarity. You are better off killing other rare mobs for a higher chance of Divine drops.
I don’t think vaaling them even does anything outside of corrupting all the non-item drops. This is a drop you can get from a non-vaaled strongbox after the loot patch anyway.
Just curious based on your other comments and whatnot, what % rarity do you get from gear? I don’t even really know what percents are possible or viable, somewhere around 100% is probably pretty standard I’d guess?
For me it seems better to run 2-3 maps in regular gear, which I can do in the same time it’d take me to run one with rarity gear that makes me have to creep along and try not to die (at least partially because my rarity gear kinda sucks). In that same vein, I just regal the strongboxes at most and have about 50% rarity, and they come out alright. Not two divs per box, but I found like three divs yesterday overall, seems good enough
My gear rarity total is 104% on me at all times. This map was at 15% rarity and the box itself had 94% rarity and 28% quantity of items. I’m capped res, 2100HP 1100ES 72% evade 40% movespeed and all I use is rake, disengage and blood hunt and I flip flop around the map bleeding and exploding everyone idk

Just like anything else you can use currency on it to add mods. The only 3 worth anything is Quality of Items, Quantity of Items, Guarded By Extra X Rare Monsters. I carry currency on me to use on random things in the map as I go. I use up to regals without thinking about it, but only very seldomly will I use exalts. I corrupt all researchers strongbox and any essences. Idk it’s just what I do.

For sure. Theyre nice now, nothing broken though. I think Ronarray did a video (or if he didnt yet he 100% will) about strongboxes post patch and found that they wete much better than before but not as good as a solo strategy compared to some of the other options.
