[Injury] Ant leaves the floor after going down with an apparent ankle injury
By the end of the series we’re gonna be getting Podz vs Conley first option hoops
seeing Kevin Knox out there is already surreal
Kerr fucking out Kit out there lol
Anyone going to the next game pls wear a full kit jersey with shorts. Maybe Steve Kerr will play you
the geriatric bowl
Ah yes, 22 year old journeyman Podziemski
You’re saying that like it’s a bad thing
The grittiness will be off the charts
Whoever wins is gonna get dove at first play by Dort in the next round
FREE TSJ
It’s only called hoops if you score
Who is ready for Jackson Rowe v. Leonard Miller minutes??
A Conley legacy game.
You think we’ll still be seeing that kind of star power?
He’ll be back in 5 minutes, not moved until i see bone
That’s what I hope. He’s done it so many times after I thought he had a season ending injury. But every time I’m terrified
First 15 times yeah i shit bricks but its ant at this point its routine
He is young which is good, but is concerning that he get those that much
he should talk to Steph about those, Steph used to have glass ankles too and then did all these things to strengthen and stabilize them
I mean to be fair it almost never actually causes him to miss games. He looks like he’s done for the season like every other game and then miraculously returns a few minutes later
Lebron taught him how to tie his shoes during the Olympics
idk what kind of stabilization exercises prepares you for 250lbs stepping down on you
They pile up tho, he’s already been favoring his leg. Shout-out uncle alc for spotting that, athletic alchemy on yt, GS specialist but great listen in general.
It’s funny to see everyone panicking but Wolves fans. Don’t get me wrong I’m a little nervous, but based on his track record this is likely no big deal.
On the one hand, Ant’s ankles seem to be made of easily bendable but unbreakable rubber.
On the other hand, I’ve been a Minnesota sports fan long enough to know how this eventually ends.
This is like LeBron getting hurt, then touching it out, except everyone calls him over dramatic
Especially when he was younger, tie his shoes tighter and play on
One downside to ant shooting poorly is he has to drive more now
Of course this is a freak injury, but just makes it more likely when he’s barreling into traffic
Idk he got stepped on this time, he did not look great walking down the tunnel.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen Ant go down give me a mini heart attack before he jogs back onto the floor a few minutes later, I’d have enough money to pay for this bar tab
This is like Tyreek Hill and Darius Slay in the NFL. Every game they get injured, sometimes go to the locker room and come back out a few minutes later
I believe in the boy, I swear I have seen him come back from so many sketch falls. Tbh if we have enough of a lead tho i dont think we should rush him back in
Ant is like AD where he goes down with what looks like a major injury every game and is fine 2 minutes later.
Lmfao what? AD is definitely not “fine” every time he goes down. He gets injured a fuck ton. He just LOOKS like he got injured literally every single game.
He’s being hyperbolic. Of course AD gets injured a lot more than Ant but the number of times AD goes down and seems really hurt vs is actually really hurt are low compared to guys who go down less.
Exactly
LeBron does it too. And I love him for it I think it’s funny
I’m just glad it was clearly an ankle because it got landed on. Too many times he goes down with getting hit and it freaks me out that he like tore something.
I was gonna say this haha. Ant goes to the locker room and returns more than AD these days
He does this a lot so hopefully it’s nothing bad, but that did look a little concerning-
This guy knows
Lol you were right.
He’s a lot like AD in that he always looks like he’s out for the season then he’s fine 5 mins later . lol
Narrator: He wasn’t
He’s warming now
mazzulla is that you?
He’s sustained what appears to be a serious injury several times throughout the year, but then returns after a short rest.
Hoping for the best, expecting the worst
Maybe we should’ve reserved mini Bron for Ant instead of Eric fuckin Bledsoe lol
Eric Bledsoe was built like mini LeBron at least with those boulder shoulders
But yeah wtf kind of unfair nickname is that to give before he has even started!
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not
What is the most cursed year for the playoffs
Last year and 2021 were both awful for injuries.
2021 is probably the all time worst.
We were the one team to escape healthy and we’ve been paying for it ever since then
Technically even Giannis got injured too. Adds more to the absurdness of that season.
I mean I saw that knee. Giannis was just superhuman enough to avoid being kept out too long
Yep. No offseason eliminated a few teams right off the bat and then the playoff injuries to the Nets and Clippers really hurt two contenders.
Not to take anything away from the Buck’s win but that year Giannis’ was essentially the last man standing. All Stars were dropping like flies.
Tbf giannis was also injured. He just got back up
I like how every “all time” thing on reddit is within the past 5 years. Maybe max 10 years lol
So name one from the 20th century which was worse? Or even from the 2000s?
I’m interested in basketball history and have done a lot of research, there really isn’t a year with that many injuries to key stars.
We’re all 20 or 30 somethings let’s be real. The older fans all have kids or a wife or some other dumb waste of time like that to not have time to live react to a basketball game on reddit.
2021 Suns were the luckiest mofos. First round against Lakers, Lakers up 2-1, AD injured. Second round against Nuggets, Murray injured. Conf finals against Clippers, Kawhi injured. All three teams went deep-ish in the bubble. Finally faced real competition against a healthy Giannis and they lost lol.
Suns were up when AD got hurt in that game. Could have gone either way that series.
Suns also had injuries + Booker was clearly hurt in the finals. Plus Suns went up 2 games on healthy bucks and then just collapsed.
Availability is the best ability. 2020 Lakers were lucky that AD was able to rest up a bunch after the pandemic hit. Zero shot he stayed healthy that long in a normal season.
He played a lot of games in Nola, also just played 76 games last season with us. “Zero shot he stayed healthy that long in a normal season” talking out of your ass. You had zero idea what would have happened without Covid. Yes we might have lost in 2020. We also might have eliminated you guys in 2021 and went on to win 2021. AD got a ton of rest in 2020, so did everyone else. There’s a lot of what-ifs. The only thing we know for sure is that 2021 was an injury-riddled season/playoff for many teams and Suns did get lucky in the western conference. There’s nothing wrong with that and it’s happened before 2021 and will happen again.
Every year
I repeat for the 100th time in the last 15 years: 82 game seasons are too much!
edit:
You gotta be a real weirdo to enjoy the whole 82 game regular season. The first half of the season doesn’t really mean shit, and it’s reffed & played accordingly. It’s bad quality basketball that exposes players to unnecessary injury risk. IST is the only fun part and that’s just a few games to win an award that is meaningless.
Yeah yeah, freak accidents happen at all times of the year but the chance of injury increases with more minutes just like the chance of a car crash increases with more time driving. Thus why car insurance gets more expensive the more that people drive.
I’d be okay with a 41 game regular season that starts after the Super Bowl. The NBA can allow willing players play a certain number of off-season games in 3x3 leagues. That + the W can fill the off-season with hoops just fine, while also limiting injury risk and avoiding direct competition with the NFL. It could also make our Olympic 3x3 teams more competitive, which is like a cherry on top.
Steve Kerr has proposed shortening the season to 72 games.
Even that seems like too much but it’s a comprise in the right direction.
Most star players play about 72 games per regular season anyway. 72 games seems to be the number that teams target for minute management purposes.
I think this is the way to go for both basketball and hockey. Cut out 10 games and see if the quality of the product improves before cutting back even more.
I’ve always been curious if games worked on Olympic rules by shortening the quarters.
60 would be ideal imo. Play each team twice. Would add Soo much more gravity to each game
Most sports that require a lot of explosive movements have seasons that are too long nowadays with how much the pace of play has increased
17 game NFL season is crazy. Can’t believe the NFLPA agreed to that.
Thankfully they will fix that by changing it to 18 games soon lol
It’s insanity. I’ve also never been so disinterested in the NFL as I am now. This era of the NFL feels a lot like the era of the NBA where you knew it was going to be the LeBron vs the Warriors in the finals before the season even started.
I’ll probably end up selling a bunch of my season tickets next season because of this. Not because the Colts are mid right now, but because the league has been putting out a mid product.
Yep
It’d be so much better for the quality of basketball too. These guys pretty much never actually practice since everything is just rest and recovery between games every 2-3 days. So dumb.
Absolutely.
It absolutely should happen but it won’t. Teams aren’t giving away ten games worth of money, simple as that.
The NBA can absolutely find ways to make up for that revenue (and more) by:
There exists a viable path to radically increase the NBA’s revenue by decreasing the number of NBA games.
____
The real reason why NBA owners won’t cut the schedule is because it might prompt banks to “call” any loans that owners have out on their teams. It’s like getting margin called, but for loans backed with a sports franchise instead of stocks.
Billionaires take out low-interest debt against their sports teams to live lavish lifestyles & get capital for other endeavors without having to cash out assets. Assets like sports teams typically grow fast enough that paying interest on loans is well worth it, especially when you factor in the fact that selling assets typically racks up a tax bill.
More than anything, sports teams are financial instruments rather than revenue generators. Sports franchises enable their owners to pay interest to a bank instead of taxes to the government. Which is more “affordable” for them.
Owners just cannot do anything that banks may perceive as a big risk. This includes drastically changing the schedule. Owners DO NOT want banks to have any reason to call any loans that are taken out against their teams.
Even a very short-term decrease in franchise evaluation can lead a vulnerable owner to have to sell a ton of assets and pay a bunch of taxes, which defeats the purpose of owning a sports team in the first place.
It’s all basically a scam to subsidize billionaires but whatever.
It’s crazy how anyone suggesting anything like more than 1 day rest time between EVERY playoff game during late round 1 - round 2 is hated by commenters. Can’t we at least PROPOSE ideas to lower injury rates?
Given the games per season will likely not change, they should eliminate B2Bs at the very least. Even if it cuts into the players offseason.
Maybe they also give more time off for the ASB.
They could also cut down on travel by playing fewer out of conference games & more games within the same division.
This would also help fuel regional rivalries. The MLS has been raking in money doing that.
Nah there has definitely been worse
We’ve been pretty lucky this year actually. Curry, Ant, Garland, Mobley is a pretty small amount of stars injured compared to past years. And Garland/Mobley/Steph should all return soon hopefully
Doesn’t Ant have a reputation for basically playing dead on the court w/ relatively mild injuries, going to the locker room, then coming back?
Hopefully this is just him doing that again. I pray he’s not actually seriously hurt.
I don’t think it’s usually acting, it probably does genuinely hurt. And he goes back to get treatment/taping or whatever because that’s the best best way to handle it.
another thing might be that he has low pain telrance, I had a teammate like that, every strong fall or minor injury seemed like a career ending one then after 5 mins when the pain gets milder he would be like “ayo coach you can put me back in”
[deleted]
Playing dead implies that he’s acting or exaggerating.
It’s not his fault, he’s part opossum.
this sounds plausible
Hes not really faking them, they usually look brutal like this and super heals
I never once thought that he was a faker. I have no doubt that he’s legitimately in a lot of pain when this happens. Maybe I’m guilty of thinking that it’s a pain tolerance thing or anxiety about serious injury, but he always comes back to the court so I can’t trash him for it.
Although maybe he’s a bit of fiend for painkiller shots from the medical staff. I wouldn’t blame him for that either tbh. I’d do the same shit, swear to god. “I gotta booboo, drug me up so I feel like superman”
does seem like he gets a bad injury every time i watch the wolves and rarely actually has had one
The people wanted Ant vs Steph but instead are getting Draymond vs Randle
Tough hoops 💯
Bully Ball 😤
Not like this
yo fuck these injuries
Postseason traumatic growth
aw fuck off with this shit
He goes down like once every two games with what seems like a scary injury. Unfortunately this one felt different
Not saying he’s ever faking but Ant is definitely a showman
Least injury filled nba postseason
Until we get more info that he’s out for the game I’m not too too worried. He tends to have stuff like this happen and then come back 5 mins later. Obviously hoping for the best for him.
Man let’s hope bro fuck 😭
We good 👍
Jesus at this rate OKC/DEN gonna get a bye to the finals
Everyone Dislikes This
These playoffs have been ridiculous with injuries
Thank bald guy running this league to shit
He’ll be back after a few commercial breaks
Feels like this is on brand with Ant
The dude is WOLVErine. Healed that ankle in 10 mins
Oh no.
Curry and Antman both down, Adam Silver on suicide watch
This series has went from what could have been awesome to meh really fast if he is injured as well
is already meh lol
man this playoffs was so fun so far, this sucks
Brutal.
Post the video of the injury you cowards
There doesn’t seem to be a replay, and unsurprisingly he seems to be completely fine.
MN sports
Noooo
OKC is going to make a killing in the next series.
Aw, shit. Hope he’s OK.
Well fuck
So who’s fault is it that they players have to play every other day?
NBA champion always seems to be the team lucky enough to have no injuries.
I just seen it and he gonna be aight all bro did was step on it but thank god it aint like give out or sum shit but forsure it hurt but get sum ice on that and he probably gonna be coo
That’s a buttersmilk comment if ever heard one.
The stars really aligned for OKC this year.
The NBA Gods giveth and they taketh..
I didn’t want to see the actual play anyways, watching him sit on the ground is the real action.
Please Basketball Gods Don’t let the Prophecys’ journey stop here!
What happened?
This series will have no stars on the floor!
Big oof
That look from Kerr…
Please no. Just no
dude….fuckin injuries
What’s with the injuries man
This makes my eyes rain…
I’d honestly sit him for the rest of the game. No way GSW comes back. This is the worst nba game I’ve seen in a while’s
You must have missed the OKC-Denver game last night.
I watched that game too. Both games were very bad. Okc was just hitting everything and Denver just couldn’t respond. This game. Goodness….talk about a chicken with it head cut off. (No Curry makes GSW look very lost)
Series about interesting. Battle of the role players.
Anthony “Willis Reed” Edwards
Trayce Jackson-davis landed on his ankle and it rolled similarly to what happened to Lebron
Ant is fine, he has the pain tolerance of a little kid
Hope hes okay. Fucking unlucky
Can this injury fella go away?
Please no
Butler is the last star standing.
Damn Trayce, great block terrible landing. Hope it’s not serious, I enjoy watching Ant play…these injuries suck
This is just a reverse of game 1. one offense is straight ass. Winning team loses its star player to injury early on
The Thunder are gonna sleepwalk to a title at this rate
Are we watching the same game? 💀
That’s what happens when you sign with ADIDAS!
Why would you post him sitting on the floor rather than the injury…
Every other day game is not it man. make the first round best of 3, then 2nd round best of 5.
I’ve got an even better idea. Keep the seven game series and just make the flipping playoffs two weeks longer and shorter the regular season by two weeks.
It’s an ankle sprain, questionable to return is crazy talk imo but you never know with Ant
These injuries ruining such good series man
He is done for the year. Just another super star got injured when playing the Warriors…interesting
he’ll be fine i think
He’s back on the court for warmups!
Looks like trippin Peter Griffin
Contact injury. He’ll be fine.
He’s back in the game
god dammit no :(
hope it’s not serious
It’s the lack of anger for the previous rounds.
Being too relaxed somehow makes you more susceptible to injuries.
Did he come back?
Has he tried whipping his dick out?
And he is back. Iron man
I feel like this happens every two or three games
Surely Ant is one of, if not the most durable player in the NBA? I swear I’ve seen him roll his ankle or go down in pain a number of times, then he’s back on the floor the next quarter hitting a smooth step back 3.
Everyone who watches the Twolves knows that ANT has the worlds strongest ankles despite constantly getting crushed at weird ankles
Waiting for him to get wheeled off like Paul Pierce in one of these games. Then miraculously comeback fully healthy
Damn I jokingly said they used all their blood sacrifices on the Lakers… 🤯
Really happy he came back. I love watching Ant.
Might even the series a bit at least
Hope he’s alright. Since my Bucks got bounced I’m pulling for them
I didn’t think he was returning to the game after this , quite impressive
Boy who cries wolf? At least that’s what all the wolves fans were saying about bron. Karma a bitch
^ Lakers fans, this is why so many people hate you.
Because I’m saying the exact same thing the wolves fans said? Ironic
F the Lakers
Adidas basketball shoes…
