[Highlight] Giannis Antetokounmpo (35 PTS, 17 REB, 20 AST) becomes the first player in NBA history to record a game with 35+ PTS, 15+ REB and 20+ AST.
Using LeBron’s era adjustment, that equates to 250 points, 142 assists, and 121 rebounds in a 1970s game
Lol itd be more like 275 points lets be real
Obviously Bron is exaggerating but he actually would look like a god in the 70s
Maybe. I say he looks like a god right now
A greek god even
Giannis is by far most effective going downhill. Does he even have a post game?
Welp, in the 70s Bigs were simply not allowed to go downhill.
So lets put Giannis on the block and do post moves all game and see how well he doe against players who are MASTERS at the post.
Giannis is *perfect* for this era. Because he is allowed to dribble above the perimeter, and offenses are designed to get him going downhill.
This would simply *never* be allowed int he 70s. So im not sure sur Giannis posting up would be nearly as good as he is in Todays game.
He would probably be super effective on defense though of course.
Giannis said he doesn’t like comparing eras for your exact reasoning. The only thing we can kinda go off of is his athleticism, his work ethic and above all else, drive to be great. Giannis would succeed in any era
This Giannis guy is pretty good.
“RuN aDN DUnK mAN” hurrrr
I know that man is still shaking and crying about how that went down
He’s Greek, so tariffs should add 20% to all those numbers
Oh no Serbia got 37% tariffs lol
I can’t even follow Canada trade war, more trade drama than trade deadline
The assist are really nice too, not those i need to pass he just happened to shoot.
Yea he was controlling the tempo of the game and making nice reads, good vision and technique, not forcing the issue just taking what the defense gives him, beautiful basketball.
There was a filthy weak hand behind the back pass that an elite PG would be proud of
He could always pass
That was one of the things that stood out about him when he was drafted, his playmaking potential, he looked more fluid with it back then before the additional growth spurt and adding all the muscle mass lol.
The points and boards are something we see from him on what seems to be a nightly basis, but he was dropping some elite dimes tonight.
Giannis’s playmaking ability has been underrated for a minute now imo
His teammates not hitting shots is the only thing preventing Giannis from averaging a triple double
The Bucks have an efg% of 56.5 which is 4th in the NBA?
Bad stat to go off of tbh because Giannis is probably raising it that high by himself, what’s it without him included?
True but that’s gonna be the case for most superstars/MVP level players. Bucks shoot 53.9 EFG% without Giannis.
For reference, OKC shoot 53.8% without SGA.
Denver - 52.6% w/o Jokic.
Dallas - 54.3% w/o Luka (last year)
Golden State - 49.7% w/o Steph 💀
So yea Giannis is amazing but his teammates are not missing shots at an outlier rate or anything
Lmfao
It really has been bro. And he keeps improving so much but you still see in these comments people say “20 assists!?!” He’s BEEN great at passing
That pass to GTJ with 9 minutes left in the second quarter deserves its own post. That was amazing
Giannis passing is so underrated
Bron was wrong, he would average 300 points
250 and 100 assists, the point God.
He would have 45 children in the 30s.
20 assists??
LeBron has never even had a 20-assist game. Giannis having one is impressive.
My king
Run dunk dime man
Run dunk defense middy dime board post man
Add defense and middy to that
God damn Freak, hell of a line
Way better than Jokic’s triple double from the other night that took him two overtimes just to get 10 rebounds as a center in a loss.
Not better than 30 20 20, though
Arguable 5 more points and in 6 less minutes
4pt*, Jokic had 31.
But he also had 4 more rebounds and 2 more assists. Which equates to basically having a double triple double
Both had great games but 30 20 20 >
Again arguable Giannis playing great defence and less time on the court
That’s fine, but he still did it in 45 mins, which is under a full game’s 48.
Giannis hitting threes damn
yeah the last 5 or so games he started taking them again. seems to be working out. I think he went 2 for 3 another game too.
He basically attempts a 3 each game, and keeps shooting them until he misses, love it
One week too late, Giannis. Fantasy league finals was last week :(
Lol same right here 😂😭
20 assists wtf.
The fact this post only has 750 upvotes tells you everything you need to know about this sub. This would have 10,000 upvotes if it was Jokic.
Normally I’d say y’all are just whining, but ngl you’re right.
This is a CRAZY stat line, it should get wayyy more attention
I really like Jokic the player but the discourse from a lot of his fans has just become incredibly toxic.
A lot of ppl are unhinged when it comes to jokic. A lot of things contribute to the phenomenon:
(1) The Embiid-Jokic MVP discourse. Things became extremely toxic during those MVP debates, and as a result many Jokic stans have a certain defensiveness when it comes to ANY jokic criticism.
(2) Jokic is white. Unfortunately, white players attract fans that aren’t really fans of basketball or who embrace basketball culture. They just like that a white guy is doing well in a sport that is dominated by black players. Similar to how annoying Eminem fans are in how they constantly shit on every other form of rap and idolize the fuck out of Eminem.
(3) Winning the Championship during the season he lost the MVP race. Jokic fans feel a sense of vindication in that Jokic was robbed of MVP 3-peat due to the championship. Beyond jokic fans, NBA fans came to realize just how good Jokic is, so they bent the knee as well. There’s a climate where people feel obligated NOTto downplay jokic (and even overhype him at times) because of the past disrespect people have shown to Jokic.
In general, it feels like the “rubber band” has snapped in the opposite direction. People used to shit on jokic for his defense (too much) –> then he won a chip –> people feel obligated to eat crow and give respect (sometimes in excess) + jokic fans feel empowered to shit on anyone challenging jokic’s supremacy.
If you look at the society we live in you’d be willfully ignorant to just flat out ignore the racial factor. He didn’t articulate it with much nuance but I thought the way the Perk got shouted down for suggesting this a couple of years ago was really unfortunate. The existence of unconscious racial bias is a scientifically verifiable fact. Why is it completely crazy to suggest that it might be at least partially to blame for the way Jokic gets treated by the media and the internet?
Definitely feel you that Jokic stans have PTSD after going toe to toe with Philly fans though. I can’t really blame them for that one lol.
Yeah, I think Perk was stupid as hell for saying Nash and Dirk didn’t deserve their MVPs or that they only won it because they’re white. It’s super reductive to say something like that.
But at the same time, anyone who pretends that people don’t OBSESS over white players that are good, are also delusional. Part of that obsession is due to novelty/uniqueness [white players, and especially Europeans, are not typically able to out-compete Black-American players]. But part of it is also this subtle racism of “jokic plays the right way”, “jokic is actually skilled”, “jokic doesn’t just run and dunk”.
Anyone who’s being honest can admit both: (1) part of the obsession is due to him being white, (2) Jokic is an all-time great player who deserves a shit ton of praise, the vast majority of the praise he gets IS deserved.
Well said.
It’s very easy to envision the “fat, slow, only cares about horses” stuff, which is current said as a form of endearment, being said in a much more negative context if he were a black American player.
That’s not to say that one is right or wrong per se but just to acknowledge that race and national original obviously colors the discourse, so to speak.
He’s so damn good
On his “on” nights, he is legit the best player in the world. I get that we threw a G League team against him last night, but he is unstoppable in ways other guys just aren’t.
What’s the translate in 1970s numbers?
Using 250/100/50 for 1970s numbers and giannis 30/12/6 this season as baselines: 291 points, 141 rebounds, 166 assists
Easy mode activated.
To put that into perspective, I think Jokic had his first 20+ assist game this year. Crazy stuff from Giannis who isn’t known for his assist game.
Somehow Doris Burke will say he’s a second team all star
Dude is actually a freak from Greece like its a little crazy
So this is what it looks like when an NBA star plays against the G League?
thats an ugly ass court
MVP
“I see open people” from the commentator after the cross-court pass to Prince for 3 had me dying
EDIT: at 2:36. Plus Marques Johnson is a gem
I’m confused how he the first when Jokic had a 40 20 20 game.
It was a 31 21 22 game playing 45 minutes due to overtime.
Giannis had a 35 17 20 game in 39 minutes.
If both him and Jokic retire with only 1 ring they will be the best players ever with only 1. Please get this guy out of Milwaukee!
Yeah, every franchise player should always just leave once there’s a hint of mismanagement or adversity. Insufferable clown take.
Jokic does this to contenders though.
Amazing performance! Dislike that some of those were a hand off to a player taking a dribble or 2, side step to shoot. Crazy that counts as an assist.
same thing when you check jokic’s 302020 game
Yeah for sure.
Kind of shows you how crazy Oscar Robertsons stats were. Back then assists were called much more strict.
somehow stockton got many assists for a 5 second long post up
Stockton played in the 80s and 90s, Robertson played in the 60s and 70s. The 60s and 70s were what was especially strict.
I think if big o played today he will be like a big chris paul, his middy was already nice and I have no doubt that he can extend to the 3pt with some training.
I was busy and didn’t watch today, but 17 out of 20 were immediate shots. Like, Giannis never relies on handoffs, he’s the best in the league at passing out of double teams
All good mate, it’s not a Giannis thing. It’s league wide and annoying
What???
Jokic scored 31 in his 22 assist game.
Poor Jokic fans :(
It’s always about you, isn’t it?
