He’s literally played through a bunch of knee injuries in the past when he most likely shouldn’t have. Averaged 30 and 10 in the infamous Hawks series that he gets blamed for while dealing with a torn meniscus. Knicks series last year but you guys paint him as someone who doesn’t want to play.

It’s weird how the comments are just one big pile on the Sixers organization. If you want to blame the Sixers for giving a broken down Embiid a contract extension that’s fair game. I agree with it. But there seems to be a misunderstanding of the issue here.

Embiid and his camp were holding out hope there was going to be some magical surgery out there to fix him and the reality is there isn’t. They’ve seen every specialist on the planet. He ended up getting basic meniscus surgery again which could’ve been done months ago but they were shopping for any medical miracle.

The Sixers wanted him to play because essentially there’s nothing “new” that he’s dealing with or hasn’t already played through. The problem is clearly the pain and maintenance routine isn’t getting any better with age and wear and tear.

Embiid has reached a crossroads in his career. If his body can’t handle it anymore he’s gotta be honest with himself. He’s either taking the Kawhi road, or medical retirement needs to be a consideration.

Every September for years, Embiid reports to camp out of shape and says, “I’ll play myself into game shape.”. He indicated this summer and in training camp that he’d be good to go at the start of the season, which obviously wasn’t true. Embiid has always been cryptic and indignant when asked about his physical condition, so how can anyone take anything he says seriously at this point? We’ve been hearing passive-aggressive loser energy bullshit from him and his camp for years regarding his injury status, physical condition, and more, so this is no surprise.

The thing is.. He had injuries for as long we know and the Sixers 100% knew this, yet they signed him to a deal that took up 35% of the team’s cap space. They better hope that the cap space raise enough in the next few years to migate, but otherwise, that was a bad deal to keep him around.

Once you get a few players taking up about a third of the cap space. It gets harder to build a roster, and if you have players who is constantly injuried. Well then…
