All of Alex Sarr’s Career High 5 blocks against the Lakers- the Rookie of the Year frontrunner is averaging 11.6⁄7.8⁄2.2 in January with some strong defensive showings
He obviously has a ton of stuff work on, but I was impressed with how good of a screener he is already, which is something that can be hard to teach guys like that.
I’ve watched about 20 wizards games and that’s his most impressive thing.
Him and Bub are both already making some impressively mature reads off of their actions with each other and they’re both 19.
3 kids 20 or younger in the top 10 on the rookie ladder- future is looking bright for DC for the first time in close to a decade
I’ve watched about 20 wizards game

I like basketball lol!
I watch the replays from nba.com that cuts out all the FTs etc
I haven’t missed a wizards game in a few years, and none of the players are my sons. I love home team basketball, Maryland, Navy, UMBC, Towson on and on.
I stayed up until 12:30 in the morning to watch LeBron and AD turn it on in the 4th and blow us out, this season is for the folks who are messed up in the head
he’s better than wemby is as a screener now tbh
which is crazy cuz he was completely dogshit as a screener before december
Same with his 3 ball, he’s moving fast
Rui such a airhead when he gets in the paint
Have you seen his smile tho
So fucking charming!
The king of getting blocked.
Didn’t realize that Sarr was the leading ROTY race. I could have sworn it would have been Wells from Memphis.
Sarr, Castle and Wells are all really close to each other
With Ware starting to make some noise too. It’s still anyone’s race by all means, but this 3 week stretch from Sarr is the most consistent production we’ve seen from any of the top 5ish so far (barring McCain 😔)
Feel like Ware doesn’t get enough PT consistently to show what he can do. Last 2 games have been a good change tho
Honestly, him getting potential starter minutes tomorrow on a National game(If the Bucks can get out of NO) will do a ton for his stock if he doesn’t foul out guarding Giannis.
He’s only been starting what, the past two games? And this trade deadline is gonna shake things up big for the Heat. I would expect to see a consistently bigger role for him soon
ROY frontrunner?
Kia Rookie Ladder: Alex Sarr stays at No. 1 for 3rd straight week
LMAO, they have Ware as the 44th picked. That’s Pelle Larrson, our 2nd round pick that’s white and very obviously not 7ft tall.
Adam Silver fire your guy and hire my man here
This is definitely one of the least interesting rookie classes in a long time. Even the year Brogdan won it, at least Embiid looked like a star in limited time.
Not if you’re a sicko for defense like me
Also Brogdon dunked on LeBron that year so that was cool
He obviously is, it’s just that nobody watches the Wizards, but the guy has been consistently showing good stuff on both sides over the last few months.
I want it to be castle
Back to back ROYs for the spurs would be cool
I do love Castle but his predraft statements/actions made it pretty clear he was not rocking with us. Not that I could really blame him lol
Wells would average 18-20 on that team
It’s not easy to score on this Wizards team. There’s no spacing and no good playmakers, you have to create a lot for yourself. Then you have Kuzma and Poole chucking shots and killing possessions. You also have the team trying to get shots for all the rookies no matter their fg%.
The only time Poole kills a possession nowadays is when he gets a grenade chucked at him (which is a lot for the other reasons you outlined tho lol)
Kuzma on the other hand 🤢🤢 he’s spent too much time in DC, I don’t need to see him subtweet about RFK jr. anymore
Yeah it’s a bit harsh on Poole as he’s still pretty efficient and does setup teammates sometimes(unlike Kuz). He does take some crazy shots sometimes though he just hits then at a good enough rate.
But if we’re looking at a hypothetical on how many pts Wells would score it doesn’t really matter if Poole makes it or not.
wells is great rookie and neck and neck with sarr for ROTY, but you’re not scoring 20 ppg even on a bad team when your bpm is -1.6 on a stacked grizzlies team lol
Weak Draft Class + Sarr is actually amazing + Jared Mcain injured
He’s got the highest upside on the team. Dude will be scary good in another 2 years.
Him Bilal and Flagg is going to be suffocating
Sarr was the second biggest monster in the building
Rookie of the year front runner is averaging 11.6⁄6.7⁄2.2 on a 6-36 team.. and is 7 feet tall. Are there just no actual good rookies this year. lol
Defense my man, defense
Nice
Is he a superstar in the making? No. But he has some exciting defensive potential and really gives it his all despite being woefully undersized against some of the bigger centers. He will be fun to watch develop.
This is presumptuous as hell. He’s going to be a legit stretch 5, great defensive instinct and switchable, athletic as hell, 7+ feet tall, excellent solid finisher at the rim, shows good passing instinct, has a good attitude, and is only 19 years old. He absolutely can be a super star. literally averaging the same amount of blocks at 19 as Kevin Garnett
Excellent finisher at the rim??? His touch is bad, if it isn’t a dunk he struggles to make it.
I like Sarr and hopefully he can improve in that area but for now he’s a bad finisher at the rim for a big man.
I wouldn’t say excellent but the flashes are there, his highs offensively are very promising. But I do agree that his lows are baffling low for a 7 footer sometimes lmao
Ok hes not excellent at that but his touch isnt bad lol, he is a good finisher. it Doesnt really change my point that he easily has superstar potential and this comment doesnt make sense
I agree his touch isn’t bad, I wish he would recognize left handed players more, him and Bub
He could be an all star maybe, just not a perennial superstar.
Maybe an allstar. Yeah def not a superstar though.
I think it’s far too early to make any kinds of sweeping predictions like this
You can confidently say somebody will not be a superstar, superstars make it know they have that potential from the beginningÂ
Lol, like Giannis and Jokic did?
Yes, Giannis absolutely showed us he had the potential to be a superstar, a giant wing that can jump out of the gym and dunk over you with his long ass arms. Potential. That’s it. Not flashes just the skill set to set himself apart, potentially. Jokic showcased his passing skills before developing into the scorer he is today, but again a passer that height that can see the whole floor is game breaking and he was showing everybody from the beginning that he could potentially be a game breaking player whether everybody he would be or not is irrelevant. You’re seeming to not understand what the word potential is.
Yeah he could show everyone from the beginning why he was a game breaking passer and that’s why he was drafted in the middle of the second round.
You’ve started with this ridiculous premise that every all star player was a known quantity from the drop and now you’ve had to backpedal into shit like “everyone knew Jokic would be an All Star from his rookie year”
Get real
Every single superstar player in the league has come into the league with that potential, was my whole point. Nothing more or less. It’s actually different just being an all star, you can work your ass off to be an all star no matter where you’ve came from, but simply put if you don’t have the skill set or physical attributes to be a superstar coming into the league, then you can’t be. Not backpedaling on anything also your phrasing is hostile you should reevaluate what gets a point across and what doesn’t.Â
Yes, I am the one who should do that.
Sarr is only 19 and his brother is the same height and weighs about 240, I believe he’ll get much stronger. The question is if his finishing at the rim gets a little better or much better.
