Sources said the Bulls have been receiving calls from teams on two key players: Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

Rival executives have applauded a rejuvenated season from LaVine, who, in his 11th season, is shooting a career high overall (51.4%) and on 3s (45%) while averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists. LaVine has impressed the Bulls with his professionalism and leadership, a year after both sides scanned the market for trade opportunities.

Vucevic, meanwhile, has also had a strong campaign, averaging 20.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. The Warriors are among teams expressing interest in the 6-foot-10 center, sources said. At 34, Vucevic has shown he can age gracefully, particularly in a season where he is shooting career-highs as well: 55.4% from the field and 41.1% from 3.

If the Bull’s beat reporters and Sham are correct, it means the offers are where the Bulls have to include big assets to drop them [where they don’t want to] or take on a lot worse contracts in terms of years. It’ll be interesting if some of the offers start to leak.

Well in the case of Lavine, he’s always been a difficult trade because of injury/contract and defensive woes. No point in Chicago trading him if it actually costs them something to move him.

And if you can’t move Lavine, not much point in moving Vucevic either, as now you’re kind of stuck trying to win.

It’s possible Lavine has finally played himself into a movable asset. But that money is difficult to trade mid-season, so options will be limited. If he goes, I’d expect Vucevic to be out right on his tails.

Technically what we could do is move Pat Connaughton to a team willing to take salary, move Portis and Middleton to Miami for Butler, move Butler to the Suns for Beal, and then move Beal to Chicago for Lavine. There’s a number of picks involved and it depends on Beal waiving his NTC to go the Bulls. But this makes pretty much everyone happy other than Bradley Beal

We’re not competing anytime soon, but looking at these trades and the assets the rumored teams have I’m not sure where those picks come from. Milwaukee and Phoenix don’t have much of anything and it’s not like the salary eating teams are throwing in something for shits and giggles.
