04 Malone is remembered as being washed but he was actually still incredible for his age. Was rolling with LA then got a bad knee injury but then came back by April and almost single-handedly shut down KG AND Duncan in back to back series. Yes, I’m serious, roll the tapes. He demolished them both.

If he doesn’t hurt his knee again in the finals I bet they win. I can’t stand him as a person but the guy is one of the best ever, he’s sort of like the Barry Bonds of basketball in a way.

Yeah Malone destroyed KG and Duncan, it was awesome.

What fucked him, is that he ignored Vitti’s advice to not drain his knee. So he got his knee drained for the Finals and it locked up, making him largely useless.

Glove felt underutilized and mentally quit on the team. Everyone else was exhausted from the 3 title runs or just plain not good enough. So it was just Kobe and Shaq v the Pistons, resulting in either Kobe getting trapped/chucking up a hopeful shot or turning it over trying to get it into Shaq.

Don’t forget pistons made it back the finals in 2005 as well.
