[Charania] A deal that sends Jimmy Butler to the Phoenix Suns could likely end up requiring a trade involving up to 5 teams.
5 FOs are in the same Zoom call right now
One of them will be silent the whole time only to unmute at the end for a ‘nothing from me thanks’
Ahh the classic “why was I at this meeting” sign off
“This could’ve been an email.”
That’s how you almost end up with a “wrong Brooks” trade
I feel personally attacked.
trade doesn’t go through because pat can’t figure out how to unmute and masai can’t stop sharing his screen
Well if ishbia would just let James Jones talk without backseat gming then maybe this Zoom meeting would get somewhere!
James Jones traded a first for Shamet lol
Well then maybe ishbia should just take his seat lol
It’s easy to armchair gm with hindsight but when you look at the trades individually at the time they’re really not that bad. Trading for KD made sense as their team was pretty much broken by the Mavs and they clearly weren’t real contenders with Mikal as their 2nd best player. Trading for Beal wasn’t that bad seeing as how they were already over the apron and Chris Paul and shamet weren’t worth much. They didn’t have many options to replace those 2 so they swung big with the most talented player they could get. The only trade I think really deserves the criticism everyone wants to give is the Nurk-Ayton swap.
I’m not a cat
Masai’s for sure a fox
Can we somehow get a serviceable big? Ffs
You’ll get Nurk and you’ll like it
He can change light bulbs and reach for stuff on the top shelf. And best of all he can put the star at the top of the Christmas Tree
Presti somehow gets picks
That’s what happened the 1st go around with the heat trading for Jimmy Butler
Shit was a 5 team-er and somehow it resulted in OKC taking the Heat’s 2025 FRP
That was actually a second trade. Clips got Miami’s pick for accepting salary in the S&T, then threw it into the “everything we have for Paul George” pile a couple of days later.
Man’s got a fever
And the only thing that can cure it…is more picks
At some point, I want him to cash in those picks. There’s not enough roster spots to keep those picks
we’re offerring bro a 6’8 forward whos a good defender and averaging 19 on 50/40/90 for literally salary filler and picks and he wont do it
hes never cashing in
We’ll take him.
But he dosnt wanna fk with the current roster’s chemist
Who’s the roster’s chemist? Heisenberg?
Presti, we need to cook
This is my privately owned team and I will not be harassed….BITCH
Might as well yolo it and throw 10 picks at Giannis or Luka.
You guys have 15 first and 17 seconds right now.
If it weren’t for the cap, I’m sure that would be on the table.
Sixers fans are stuck trying to scramble to save their pick going to the Thunder, and Thunder fans are so sick of picks they are desperate to give them away.
I bet so. This could be a convenient trade to upgrade one of our 2025 or 2026 picks for a better one beyond those years.
I feel like this trade is gonna happen at 3am tonight
Basically what happened to KD. lol
was that EST or PST
Every thing with a timestamp is EST
Even during daylight savings time?
Honestly, no idea. I live in the only state where we don’t abide by that blasphemous ideal. But yeah pretty much everything is determined by the current EST
Its a (bad) joke on the “S” in EST
I FUCKING hate savings time. Ya got me lol
YES
I hope it comes down to the wire and they don’t get the paperwork for the last few steps done in time so the first steps happen but the big final moves don’t. Just make a couple teams play out the rest of the season with frankenstein ass rosters.
Ishbia is a madman
watch Suns go on a 10 game winning streak after the trade. jimmy will be more locked in than ever, and KD and Book are healthy and peaking. Then you have Nick Richards jelling….. could get fun
then you wake up
And you reach for your LeDiary. “That wasn’t my usual LeWet dream! What’s happening?!?”
Lol
Great team on paper
As long as Oubre doesn’t get traded to the West before the deadline, the Suns will be well positioned for a nice run. They’re combining a carry teams to the finals merchant with a finals MVP merchant. That’s a deadly combo.
You might be overrating Oubre quite a bit and underrating OKC quite a lot
Screw it, include the other 25 teams.
Suns get Butler
OKC gets a first round pick
Not sure how the Dodgers got involved, but they end up signing Fultz
But do the Dodgers defer more money?!
Mavs get Seth Curry back
And then trade him.
Of course
Somewhere in Oregon Luke Ridnour is going to get a letter telling him he’s been traded and cut from the Suns.
Oregon legend
Fuck Everything, We’re Doing Five Blades
If we can get off of the Zeke Nnaji contract throw us in there baby
lol no shot without picks included
I mean with so many teams involved maybe there’s a player on one of those teams that is worth Nnaji + 2031 FRP to them lol
When the Ishbia goes all in, he goes ALL in. Suns fully in their “balls deep” era.
They have no choice lol. It’s either now or 10 years later.
It’ll be ten years later. Maybe.
Could end up requiring a trade involving up to 19 teams
And somehow in the pandemonium Butler is still a Heat, Beal is still a Sun but OKC trades 2 SRPs for a FRP
I think we got Shaq in a 5 team trade
Nice to hear we’re getting Shaq again
Confirmed by Gambadoro as well: No not imminent. Still working on it can’t say one way or the other if it will happen. If it does, I’m looking at up to 5 teams involved.
Shams vs Gambo; who’s gonna break the news first. lmao
WOJ OUT OF NOWHERE WITH THE CHAIR
Woj randomly breaking this trade would be fucking hilarious and now I want it
I trust Gambo over any national media insider. Dude knows shit and regarding the Suns knows more than anyone
dude was zero’d in on ayton for nurk framework from the start. ill never doubt his sources when it comes to phoenix
Yep, and basically any Suns move for the last decade. It’s not even just the Suns. Dude is plugged in on the MLB and NFL. 5 teams is fucking insane though. When was the last time that happened?
Make it all thirty teams in the association. I want maximum F5.
Give us Lavine
Aren’t yall a 2nd apron team how would that work out
When Jon Horst cooks he doesn’t wear an apron.
Please no, he is a ball-dominant player with middling defense. His $43M cap hit still requires Bob/Khris/Pat to make it happen.
No thank you.
I don’t like the way Shams speaks.
Sounds a little unnatural
He sounds like my local car dealership guy.. that’s not a compliment
Jimmy’s going to the Dodgers isn’t he
Now they’re saying 6 teams might be involved
so spurs u wanna cook up in this trade ;p
freeze frame
So, you’re probably wondering how i ended up here.
Zac Collins and a first for a functioning NBA-quality backup center?
Not sure you want to be spending a first on Jusuf Nurkic.
Please include the Timberwolves
Pistons seem to be the only team with cap. They’d have to be involved right?
Toronto has ~10m in space against the tax and their full MLE to use as a TPE. They also have a bunch of contracts that can be used for matching with Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher, Kelly Olynyk, and Davion Mitchell. I think it’s very very likely Toronto is one of the teams involved here
One would think. Can’t see our GM sending anybody meaningful out though. Tobias and THJ are put into a lot of trade proposals to make up the dollars, but they’re valuable for our team and we’re not set to be sellers.
Glad to see that Timmy is doing well over there.
What about
Phoenix receives: Jimmy Butler
Milwaukee receives: Bradley Beal and Walker Kessler
Miami receives: Khris Middleton
Detroit receives: Brook Lopez
Utah receives: Jalen Duren
I’m not even going to begin to figure out where the picks go in this situation but assume Utah gets most of them here as the 5th facilitating team, but from a salary standpoint, I think this might work?
Get real dude
Unused cap exceptions (like MLE) can now be used as trade exceptions, so several teams can accept salary. The Pistons have both their cap space and their room exception, and can do salary matching on top without worrying about going into the tax, so they have the most salary space to offer as long as it’s split into multiple players.
Shams looks like shit infront of that green screen. Looks off.
So the largest trade in NBA history in terms of the number of teams involved was a five-team trade that took place in August 2021.
The deal included the following teams: Lakers, Wizards, Pacers, Nets, & Spurs. It was the Westbrook to LA trade.
Klay to the Mavs was 6 teams.
Why stop at 5. Just include whole league!
This shit is not happening. Shams is being way too evasive.
Surely the suns don’t trade that 2031 1st unless they think a trade is happening right?
Exactly. It’s definitely happening.
Jazz already in it. Suns and heat obviously. And 1-2 more. Likely bucks, maybe Toronto. Done.
Detroit has to be added too. Bucks need to offload Connaughton’s contract to get under the second apron so they can aggregate. Then Detroit has to be in the final trade to absorb minimum salaries so the Bucks can match Beal and Butler.
Jimmy to Suns Beal to Bucks Dame to Heat
Just give us all a laugh
Why is everyone bending over backwards to get this guy whatever he wants
Unfortunately, Jimmy got an upper hand because of Beal’s NTC. Without Beal, a Jimmy trade won’t be plausible.
The Nuggets are for sure involved here
Koby gotta sneak in there and cook like he did getting Jarrett Allen in the James Harden trade lmao
Cronin was seen in Miami LOL
When breaking up with your crazy girlfriend requires the help of four of your bros…
Please God some how let Embiid’s knee and Podcast P be a involved in this trade 🙏🏾 Put us out of our misery
Any team that trades for Beal deserves the biggest failure possible
Will there ever be an all 30 team trade?
There will always be teams that don’t want to facilitate their opponents getting better and trans that don’t have shit to trade.
Aight anyone else bored of this? We’re past the halfway point of the season, the ASG is coming up fast. I feel like we can find another relevant storyline until this thing dissipates or comes to fruition.
If you count the picks as a trade team then 5 is possible. If you expect a 5 team trade to ever happen in the NBA in 2024 it isn’t happening. There was the trade recently where a pick and player basically squashed a 4 or 5 team deal because one team didn’t like that they didn’t get the pick or the better player.
This is a classic everyone is giving up the things they dont want trade lol
sorry, with the cba rules being so restrictive for trading and the framework i’m hearing (bucks giving up middleton, portis, and i think connaughton for beal) not making much sense, i’m on the “nothing ever happens” side here
Bucks probably asked for some real assets attached to take on Beal so now the 4 teamer needs to be a 5 teamer with either a new Beal team or more picks going to Milwaukee. It’s probably not happening.
Middleton not really an asset himself
Doesn’t matter. Beals the worst contract in the league and the entire thing hinges on Bucks being on board with absorbing Beal. They need more stuff attached or the Suns can try and find another team for him.
It’s only the worst because of the ntc he isn’t on a minutes restriction and he is coming off 2 surgeries either
Doesn’t matter because the Suns have no other choice. They need to make Milwaukee feel OK taking on Beal or find a new team.
Except reportedly you guys wanted beal for a few years. A beal Giannis Dame played team is scary
I like Beal the PLAYER a lot. He’s a prolific scorer that’s been an awful fit in PHX. He’d be good not great in MIL
But like I said Milwaukee has a ton of leverage here and there’s no reason for them to take on Beal for free.
More!!
Let’s get all 30 teams involved!
You son of a bitch- I’m in!
Please god give me Lillard and Beal as a backcourt, coached by Doc Rivers 😭
Suns still won’t win, these deals never work out anymore
Teams like OKC and Celtics are a cohesive unit with chemistry
People act like Jimmy wasnt winning the public battle with Heat
People just act like it isn’t a players league. Commissioner Silver would have made the Heat trade Butler. The closest we ever got to NBA player versus team was the 76ers. If 76ers didn’t get James Harden we are talking a 100+million lawsuit because Ben Simmons refused to play basketball and 76ers refused to pay him. Have to remember the media for such a hatable basketball player in Ben Simmons was rooting for him to be traded.
I was all for the chaos.
