[Highlight] Nikola Jokic plays futbol while everyone plays basketball as he inbounds the ball with his head
Got to keep himself interested, I suppose
how can i make this easy baby’s game at least a little difficult?
Like when you play with your nieces and nephews, but only you are allowed to shoot with your one non-dominant hand to make it more fair.
I wonder if he sits on the bench, when he’s done for the night, and thinks about new training techniques for his horses.
He actually just listens to Goodbye horses on repeat
Lil Nas X. Old Town Road is a song about horses, right guys? That’s what we told my 6 year old when it was his favourite song.
He’s just like me!
Except he doesn’t tuck his penis
He’s missing out!
Just whispering to guys on the bench “it puts the lotion on the skin. It does this whenever it’s told.”
I’m pretty sure he plays Uma Musume Pretty Derby.
He’s the equivalent of a smart kid acting out in class because he’s bored with the assignment.
I feel like this is one of the weird little side quests he gives himself, like how he’s still fishing for free throws on a full court heave
Or like when Larry played left-handed the whole game
MJ eyes closed free throw
Of note it wasn’t the whole game, just a good bit of it. Like more than usual.
Just to be pedantic perhaps, which is of course the highest ideal in life.
Or his volleyball-style full court shots.
I feel like if Jokic makes 1-2 of those heaves in a row, he might get the whistle on the next one.
Jokic will be hitting a 4 point heave off the top of his head by the time March rolls around
not giving him fts on some of those shots is straight up corrupt bullshit, you dont get to weigh fouls against the probability of the play, either you get fouled on a shot or you dont, and while yes some of them are him clearly fishing there are also ample examples of him anticipating a foul and outplaying the fuck out of his defender and beginning a serious shot before the foul, not to mention the fact that a large majority of them would have been awarded in the key.
The next thing he needs to do is thrust it with his hip inbounds and see if anyone stops him
That’s one pump. So it’s okay. You don’t get in trouble until you get to three.
He’s achievement-hunting to get up to 100%, yup
That shit is his white whale lol.
He’s gonna headbutt the ball into the basket watch
All right, I won my Jokic inbounds the ball with his head prop bet.
Didn’t know this was legal
I was questioning the same shit. Aparently it is lol (that or the refs didnt care to call anything for it, in which casse rare ref W)
Did they tell the refs to not care about uncontested inbounds this year? I swear I see players step on the line while inbounding all time. Which, I don’t care about, but this would track.
Honestly why should they care.
Its the same as travels when players are way ahead of anyone else.
If the defender isnt close by, then there isnt much there to call as they arent doing it to gain an unfair advantage.
I’s argue its way less impactful than even a travel where u think a guy is clear. Could not possibly give a fuck about inbounds etiquette
Chris Paul is watching.
And whining like a little rat
Nah, I don’t agree about the travels on an open finish. You have to follow through on a play properly. If you’re travelling on a layup with no pressure, that’s on you.
Unpressured inbounds are before any play is happening, so I can understand being lax there.
You say that, but being lax here allows for a lot of cool in game dunks that might not happen otherwise. The change here isn’t “players will sometimes get called for travels on uncontested shots,” its “players attempt less cool shots on uncontested drives because the persnickety ref might take two points off the board.” I don’t think that’s in anyone’s interest really.
What a ridiculous thing to say. They should care because rules are rules. It cheapens the game when the refs get to decide when to enforce them or not. Rules are what makes a game a game. They should fucking follow them regardless.
Philosophically for the purity of the game- you’re right.
Pragmatically- when you are presenting a billion dollar product and balancing advertiser needs with commercial breaks, ticket sales from casual fans and player salaries - yeah I see why they don’t want to introduce so much “dead time”
I’d hate to play Uno with you brother
I mean I would love it if there was consistency all the time. A rule is a rule. I think if the refs/NBA did this it would tighten everything up. Right now it must be pretty confusing as a player. There are all these roles that aren’t ever followed, a bunch of rules that are pretty much always followed, and a bunch of rules that are sometimes followed. The players have to “feel” how the rules are being called each game. That’s pretty dumb. I feel like most sports have bias and ambiguity coming from the refs, but basketball is in a league of it’s own.
Very technically, the line is out of bounds. When you are in bounds and step on the line, you are out of bounds. When you are out of bounds, the line doesn’t magically become the in bounds line.
they called it on MPJ in the playoffs and he’s been very careful not to repeat it, its not allowed, the refs are just lazy with it, its this kind of stuff that gets clamped in the playoffs and why thugs like embiid cant make it past two rounds.
Thugs? WTF?
Seriously, what is this dog whistle bullshit being upvoted for?
You guys never do a lil circlejerkin?
he clearly meant to type slugs guys
no no i’m pretty sure he meant “shrugs” as in guys who don’t care enough about the game
swear I see players step on the line while inbounding all time.
I have watched for years seen it so many times and I’ve only seen it called once (against the pacers on a crucial possession)
Idk but they called it on us with a Jake Laravia inbound earlier this month and it was uncontested
You should check out the inbounds call by Tony Brothers recently on the Rockets. Even after the review of the play, he still stood by his call.
They didn’t review that play
Oh, sorry. What I meant was that the refs discussed the call among themselves to justify what happened but never explained it to the coaches.
Not sure if it is… don’t think ive ever seen it and the ref probably hasnt either lol
I don’t think there are rules about making contact with the basketball with your head, just the feet or punching the ball with a closer fist. So this should be a legal inbounding of the ball
“Show me where it says a dog can’t play basketball?”
Technically if the ball leaves your hand it should be considered thrown in??
Do you think crabs see fish as birds?
And their fellow crabs who leave the ocean in traps are astronauts
Fish arent real, technically, so theyd be more right than us
Nah. The ball isn’t technically in play until it either touches the court or touches someone who is touching the court.
Nikola could play keep ‘em up’s if he wanted, he just has to make sure he inbounds in time (5 seconds?)
You can toss the ball and catch it.
This was after a score, you can even run around with the ball then pass it in from wherever you want.
I doubt it is because he basically released the ball out of his hands and then he touched it again while he was still out of the bounds.
But considering they don’t call horrible travels, this would be really petty to call.
The ref looked like he wasn’t sure either.
He is bored beyond belief. He wants a real challenge and play in the MLS against messi.
what playing against philly do to a mf
god that would be glorious
Could he do it on a rainy night in Stoke?
If he’s really comfortable with a lead he just starts trying wacky shit lol
up just 13 in the 3rd isn’t even that convincing to me
Against the hospital Sixers I think it might be
Hospital sixers lmaooo brutal but true
bro the sixers aren’t even a real basketball team
their 1st round pick this year is real though 🤤
hahaha
Consider the opponent
I was at the game and was fairly convinced
Jokic with an arm sleeve confused the fucked outta me. I thought Luka came back 4 inches taller lmao
Since he had that elbow injury he’s been wearing one. He was asked why he doesn’t always wear one all the time to avoid all the scratches he gets in game and he said “Trainers need to keep full-time job”. Joker is such a unit
He actually said it’s so he could point to the refs and go “see look at this!” lol
I need to have my ears cleaned, apparently as my grandma says
between that and the shoes, I thought the same thing lol
Why are all of his teammates not even phased by this lmao
Well he is kind alike that a lot during practice lol
Haha that’s what I was kinda figuring
Damn. Sixers is Jsut another practice day?
It must be a fun as fuck for a fan to watch Jokic during practices. I bet he experiments with all sorts of wacky shit and plays and we’re only seeing 10% of his genius on live game days.
Genius @ work
technically it’s not a travel if you manuever around with the ball on your head like a seal, right
In football, it’s been done before successfully
It’s a shame the guy had multiple bad injuries, so we never saw what truly what could have been
thanks for sharing, cool clip. and lol the top comment:
Any tall footballer should be spending hours every day perfecting this skill. You’d be absolutely unstoppable
Wemby get to work!
The problem with that strategy is perfectly illustrated in the video itself. If you attempt this you just get kicked in the chest. Football defenders will absolutely tackle the shit out of you before they let you run past them doing this.
Its a useless skill tho since your eyes have to fixate on the ball. Would be better if he juggles with the shoulder so he can look ahead and avoid incoming defenders ramming into him
What if you got plastic surgery to make the ball fit nicely between your head and your shoulder and you just sprinted around like that.
Think about it.
What if you use really strong hair product to shape your hair into a bowl into which you place the ball, and then run into goal?
Showboating is a valid strategy if the ref has the minerals to send defenders off for retaliation tackles
I seriously don’t understand why Wemby doesn’t just hold the ball up high then drop step into a dunk. Literally no one in the league bar some insane athlete could stop him from putting the ball in the hoop without fouling.
Duncan used to do it all the time because he had a massive wingspan but would get fouled a lot, Wemby could literally make it work 95% of the time.
Or heck just hold it high from drop off passess from the sky haha. He always keeps the ball down low like a guard taught him how to play in the post and its really infuriating to watch at times.
Duncan should be teaching this to him right?……..
Probably common theory: they are working on his all-around skills still while the Spurs aren’t in contention. Then he whips out all of the post abusing tactics you’re talking about when it matters.
I think there’s no way he isn’t downloading tons and tons of post moves even while he’s doing all this shooting in games. Guy is too much of a student of the game to not
He always keeps the ball down low like a guard taught him how to play in the post and its really infuriating to watch at times.
i remember a report (from Windhorst?) that Wemby’s old coach sat his team in front of a TV and had them watch old school AND1 dribbling mixtapes. and thats how Wemby learned/practiced his dribble. think that’s why he vibes so well with Jamal Crawford, and they apparently trained together this summer.
might explain his guardlike tendencies at times
They’re allowed to just kick him in the chest? 🤣
They aren’t but this is South America. Everything is legal if the referee doesn’t see it.
One of the most popular teams in Argentina, Estudiantes, literally got their nickname “Los Pincharratas” because the coach would ask them to poke their opponents with pins hidden in their socks on corner kicks.
Draymond smiling rn.
That was a foul obviously, I don’t know if a card was shown however
I love how the defenders didn’t know wtf to do so they just fouled the shit out of him
Kerlon was one of a kind. Never seen before, never seen after.
Simplesmente Kerlon little seal
Yeah but there’s no travelling in football.
Yup. This shit WORKS cause the only way to stop it by fouling. Problem is that players feel disrespected and go in full “Cave in chest” mode.
Lebron at 40 dunking on centers
Jokic meanwhile:
This shit is a joke to him 😭😭
What a weird fucking guy. I love it
Foul….no, two fouls!
Semi Pro?
Yessir
Headbol?
He just wants to have fun.
And these bum announcers don’t even acknowledge it
they did it later with a replay from another angle. it’s even funnier since you can’t see the line
If Embid tried this he would probably give himself a concussion somehow.
Injured while inbounding, to be reevaluated in 1-2 weeks.
He should get fined for this, it’s false advertising to call it “basketball”.
I’d bet money he practices trying to head a basketball into the hoop in his free time
He did it once last season I believe
He’s definitely done it during warm-ups
He’s very good at both soccer and water polo too.
You do new stuff on regular 7-5 work to keep yourself motivated, same as Jokic do on that video.
tony brothers feeling a chill in his neck somewhere
If you’ve never watched some Australian Rules Football, check it out.
Learned about it last year as an American. It’s legit amazing.
He a fun guy
twas 1-2 games ago, he picked up a ball with foot. now this. its obvious hes bored with izi wins
Is he allowed to do that? Surely they wouldn’t allow such a game breaking mechanic to be legal…
Just a goofy guy
MVP.
Point me to the people mad about another jokic post but love LeBron posts.
Going for that platinum trophy
He’s just out there casually goofing around while getting a triple double
It seems like a quirky little action, but it’s Jokic. I won’t be surprised if he revolutionizes basketball with header moves.
Meanwhile emflop is ducking joker again 😂

This deserves a mention in the 🍆🚴 HOF
He got a shooting sleeve and now he feeling himself
Wait so I can do a head pass in game?
Futbol? Is he Spanish?
It’s a really really low bar to impress you people.
This dude is magnificent
Should be an out of bounds.
What an innovator
Not really. South american nations call it futbol. Its the right word, unlike soccer
They call it soccer in the U.S so it’s not football. futbol is what other countries call it.
